Cursed Bonds Fated To The Royals by Magical Pen -
Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Elton’s POV
Alek’s hurried footsteps behind me as I climb the stairs to my study aren’t surprising, but I don’t stop all the same.
“Halt now, Elton!” Alek barks, the echo bouncing off the walls.
I don’t stop.
If there’s anything I have known in our ten years of being friends and then brothers, it’s that Alek would take every one of my tantrums.
“I’m not enjoying this. Elton. Stop while you can,” he continues, and I take the last step to the study.
However, before I can open the door to my study, he’s in there.
In my mind.
“What part of stop is so difficult to understand? Elton Aiken?”
I stiffen at the mention of my last name.
Alek would never call me my last name unless he were very well pissed.
The kind that has him lunging at me the moment he’s on the staircase, too.
“You finally caught up,” I huff, my breath ragged.
He scoffs, opens the door to my study in one kick, and pushes me inside.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” He demands as soon as the door is closed.
“Other than the little princess, you have waltzing the palace and every f**king place?” I shot back and settled into my seat.
Alek’s eyes glowed bright, telling me that I was a few sentences from completely crossing the beast underneath all that regal and royal king.
I didn’t mind, though.
While I wouldn’t say I liked to push him to the edge, I also didn’t mind facing the consequences.
While there wasn’t anyone who could stand up to Alek Kaiser, I was the one person who came close.
Dangerously close.
And I knew he was holding his breath for when I would defeat him.

Not until I could completely block him out of my mind.
The man could make me take a stab at my heart without raising a damned finger.

“You brought her here. Elton,” Alek starts, and I exhale, remembering the worst mistake I had just made.
“You paid every f**king dime with your money.
“And then dumped her with my men.”

that scrutiny.
His voice is a low note now, and he’s watching me with
That look tells me he is itching to pry into my mind and see exactly what’s going on there.
But I know he wouldn’t.
That was one thing we had agreed on–my privacy.
So even if he was in my head for anything, the last thing Alek would do is pry.
It’s why I trusted him.
Why I was still here.
“You had me pick her up, Alek,” I reply, starting with a lie.
“You were the one that brought the folder showing me that you found her, and we needed to save her from The Medallion.”
Alek scoffs, “All I did was show you; I don’t remember giving you the go–ahead to buy her and pick her up like some Prince Charming.”
His eyes, which had travelled everywhere in my study, rested back on me.
“Only that you ran off, you didn’t even meet her…” he paused.
“You were no Prince Charming.
I chuckle, unable to resist. “We both know that I have never been one.”
“I could never be.”
Even if I tried.
Alek doesn’t argue because there’s no lie there.
“You need to start explaining why you went ahead to pick her up, left her there and have been treating her like shit since we met her.”

I was going to need another lic.
Something that would get Alek off my back. Because I could never let him know the real reason.
It would break everything he had been struggling so hard to maintain.
So I do.
“She doesn’t remember me.”
“Not one single bit of familiar gaze,” I lied.
Alek’s brows arch upwards, his eyes on me heavy and searching.
“It’s been years,” he finally said with a soft sigh, settling into the chair opposite me.
My shoulders sagged as I could tell that he had bought my lie.
For now.
Knowing Alek, I knew he would catch on soon enough.
But I had bought myself some time.
“It has nothing to do with her, Elton….”

“I just read through everything she has been through in that forsaken pack, and there’s no way any human should have gone through that
“We have been through worse,” I pointed out, and Alek looked away.
He nodded eventually and dropped the topic.
Good.
I wasn’t planning to sit through some pity party for Irene.
He doesn’t say anything more, and we both sit in silence, each person lost in their thoughts.
I knew Alek was calming his emotions.
He had never been one to talk or act while walking on the edge of losing control.
“The mate bond with Noah,” he started, breaking the silence, and my b*dy stiffened.
There’s no way any of us saw that coming.
“It changes everything,” I confess, and he nodded, agreeing with me.
“But I don’t plan to let it

“There’s no better person to carry our heirs…” he paused, taking a deep breath.
“I don’t trust any of the gifted women around here. Neither do I replace them attractive.”
It was more about the second part. When he had the ability to get into anyone’s mind, the last thing Alek was ever bothered about was trust.
He just couldn’t bear to tolerate either one of those girls.
“Also, I don’t see you having an heir with any of those women, too,” he added.
Not like I was planning on having one with Irene, too, but I nodded.
Alek stands up, his full height hovering just a few inches from the ceiling.
“I’ll continue as planned then. I’ll inform the elders at court, and we can have a conversation with Noah as soon as he gets back from school.”
“You handle both, I won’t be coming to morning court today.”
And I sure as hell don’t plan on having a conversation with Noah.
Alek had spoiled him silly.
The boy could shoot his mouth and throw tantrums even more than I did.
Since Alek wouldn’t let me beat his pampered ass, I would do the both of us a favour and stay the fuck away from him.
