After leaving the Gold Coast Club, Miranda continued to cling ontoLachlan's arm, looking like a woman deeply in love.

Upon hearing his words, Miranda's tone faltered for a moment as shestared at him with wide eyes. Her gaze flickered a few times, revealingan imperceptible hint of grievance from the depths of her eyes

Was it all an act when she had stormed over and slapped Lachlan in afit of anger? It must have been, right? There was no way she could begenuinely worried about this guy!

Taking a deep breath, Miranda composed herself and once again madeherself look emotionless.

"Although you helped my brother today, Mason seems to be suspiciousof you. I'll talk to him about protecting you later. Let's go get ourmarriage license.”

"It doesn't matter if he protects me or not. Are you sure about gettingmarried?" Lachlan asked.

"Don't waste my time! Give me back my money!" Miranda repliedcoldly.

"Well then let's just get married since I don't have any money now,"shrugged Lachlan.

On their way to the civil affairs bureau, Lachlan hesitated for half amoment before tentatively asking, "Ms. Lowe, how do you plan onthanking me for helping your brother today?"

Miranda smirked, "What? You're not trying to ask me for money, areyou?"

"No, no! I just want to take a few days off with you. Once my daughter'ssituation stabilizes, I'll officially take the position. Just a few days!"Lachlan pleaded.

Miranda hesitated for a moment, surprised that this was all Lachlanwanted. Compared to him helping his brother win back 30 milliondollars, this request seemed insignificant.

"Okay! But you better hurry up or someone might miss you,” Mirandasaid with a coy smile.

"Uh, Ms. Lowe... it's just us here now. You don't have to put on an act,”Lachlan sweat profusely.

Miranda snorted and glared at him fiercely. "Get lost! Who do you thinkI am?" This guy was such a bore! He couldn't even please people orcrack jokes; he only thought about his daughter?

"Miranda, you bitch!" A young man's expression turned ferocious afteranswering a phone call.

"Mrs. Morgan, what do you mean?"

The landlady smirked at Lachlan and said sarcastically, "Oh, you'reback? I thought you ran away!"

"Why did you throw my stuff out? I paid my rent this month, didn't 1?"Lachlan asked angrily.

"Why did I throw your stuff out? You're a poor bastard who owes a tonof money for your dead kid's medical bills. Your lease was up and youhad no money to renew it. Should I have waited for someone else tocome along while my property sits empty? Yesterday someone came tolook at the place so I cleaned up early. If anything, consider yourselflucky that I'm refunding the remaining days’ rent! Now get lost!" Thelandlady’s fat jiggled as she spoke in an unpleasant tone.

She then pulled out a hundred-dollar bill from her pocket and threw itdirectly into Lachlan’s face.

Lachlan turned red with anger and asked through gritted teeth, "So youjust threw all of my things outside?"

"What's wrong with throwing them outside? Let me tell you, if youhadn't come back yet, they would've ended up in the trash bin soonenough! It was just some crappy junk anyway that dirtied up mydoorstep.” The landlady sneered arrogantly as she pointed at the pile ofitems on the ground, "Hurry up and pick this garbage up before leavingsince I already gave you your money back!"

"What if I don't leave?"

Lachlan gritted his teeth and asked, glaring at the landlady’s face. Hewanted nothing more than to punch her in the mouth!
