Chapter 18 What if I could cure it?

Lachlan first took Rowan to the hospital to complete Nora's dischargeprocedures, and then brought the little one with him to visit the Wardfamily. With today's incident and his daughter still in the hospital, hewas feeling a bit uneasy.

When Nora heard that her father was taking her to someone else'shouse as a guest, she was quite happy. In reality, at five years old sheshould have already been attending kindergarten, but due to Nora'scondition, she never had the opportunity.

Therefore, Nora often felt lonely and wished for more humaninteraction. Upon arriving at the Ward family’s home, they saw twoelderly men sitting face-to-face playing chess in a courtyard.

On Erik's right side sat the little girl holding a Barbie doll while watchingher great- grandfather play chess. The other elderly man wore anunusual blue mask on his face

Standing behind him was a beautiful young woman in her twenties withan exquisite appearance and an extremely curvaceous figure. AfterLachlan arrived and glanced at the masked elder for a moment beforesettling his gaze on this young woman who caught his attention.

After staring at her for some time with an odd expression on his face, she asked, "What are you looking at?" The young woman noticedLachlan staring at her and immediately raised her eyebrows coldlyrebuking him.

This woman seemed to have quite an attitude problem

"Mr. Willis! You're here!"

Upon seeing Lachlan arrive, Erik stood up to greet him.

Since Rowan was able to replace out where Lachlan lived, it was onlynatural that the Ward family would also know his full name.

The old man with the mask and the young woman were surprised bythis scene.

As someone of Erik's status, why would he be so polite to a youngman?

"Reeva, calm down. This young man seems to be Mr. Ward'sdistinguished guest,” advised the masked old man.

Reeva then let out a soft snort and put away her hostile gaze towardsLachlan. However, in her heart she had already labeled him as afrivolous person because of where he kept staring at.

"Hello there, Mr. Ward," said Lachlan confidently.

"And who might this little one be?" asked Erik as he looked at Nora."She's my daughter. Nora, say hello to grandpa,” replied Lachlan whileholding Nora's small hand.

"Grandpa," Nora called sweetly.

"Hey, come here. I will give you a hug," Erik smiled kindly and croucheddown to pick up Nora.

Seeing this scene, Chloe Ward pouted and glared at Nora withresentment as if her own great-grandfather had been snatched awayfrom her.

After some pleasantries, Erik put down Nora and got straight to thepoint, expressing his gratitude for what happened last time. He pulledout a bank card with 2 million dollars in it and an exclusive blackdiamond card. With this card, Lachlan could enter any of the Wardfamily's business establishments for free.

Lachlan waved his hand dismissively. "Mr. Ward, I don't need thesethings. If you really want to thank me, do you happen to have DragonMarrow Herb? My daughter has leukemia and I only need this herb tocure her."

“Leukemia!” Erik's eyes turned towards Nora with added tendernessupon hearing Lachlan's words.

At the same time, he gained a new appreciation for Lachlan's medicalskills - leukemia was a worldwide problem that even top doctorsstruggled with treating. Yet Lachlan claimed he could cure it?Meanwhile, Chloe - who had been hostile towards Nora earlier -blinked before walking over while holding her Barbie doll out towardsher.

"Here! You can play with it."

Although Chloe was somewhat mischievous at times, she didn't havebad intentions in mind.

"Dragon Marrow Herb? I haven't heard of that, but I have collectedsome precious herbs myself, many of which I can’t even name. Whydon't you go replace it yourself, Mr. Willis?" Erik said uncertainly.

Lachlan hadn't spoken yet when a cold voice rang out, "Mr. Ward, becareful not to be fooled. What does this person do that you keep givinghim things?" Reeva glared at Lachlan with an unfriendly look in her eyesas if she was looking at a rogue or a swindler.

"Forget my manners! Let me introduce you guys. Caelan Bates andReeva Bates, this is Lachlan Willis, the divine doctor who saved my lifewhen I fell ill the other day.”

Clifford also had high praise for Lachlan.

"Oh yeah Caelan, maybe Lachlan can help you with your injury,” Eriksuggested

"It's not an illness; it's an injury that cannot be cured. Besides even if hecould cure me, it would be like taking away my medal!" Caelan wavedhis hand dismissively and continued seriously, "Besides, I've never seensuch a young divine doctor before.”

His words were filled with doubt towards Lachlan.

"A medal?" Lachlan raised his eyebrows as he looked at Caelan

"Yes! When we fought against foreign enemies years ago, Caelan wasinjured in battle. To us old folks here those injuries are medals!Unfortunately... the place where he was injured..." Erik sighed and didn'tcontinue speaking any further.

Caelan's injury was on his face!

Years ago, an enemy bullet pierced through his cheek, leaving himunrecognizable. As a result, Caelan had been wearing a mask for manyyears, living in the shadows

Despite holding a high position and having a thriving family with manydescendants, he never dared to show his true face to anyone. Hispersonality had become increasingly solitary and irritable, unwilling tointeract with others or even communicate with his own familymembers.

Now residing in lylonio for most of the year after leaving Kreanford, thestate behind, Caelan only had his granddaughter Reeva by his side. Theimpact of disfigurement on him was unimaginable!

As Erik finished speaking, Lachlan looked at Caelan with deep respect inhis eyes. An elder generation who had fought bravely on the battlefielddeserved everyone's admiration.

"Mr. Bates," Lachlan said seriously. "I can cure you so that you don'thave to live behind your mask anymore.”

But as soon as he finished speaking came a cold snort, "Get lost! I don'tneed it!" Caelan's irritable personality caused him to curse directly.

His granddaughter Reeva even sneered, "Who do you think you are?You dare make such arrogant remarks without knowing mygrandfather's situation?"

"A bullet piercing through the face causing disfigurement,” Lachlan saidlightly.

"Hmph! Even if you know, what's the use? No matter how many divinedoctors or saints there are, modern advanced plastic surgerytechnology is also helpless. Can a fraud like you cure it?" Reevasneered.

"What if I can cure it?" Lachlan asked in a deep voice.

"Do you like me? If you can cure it, I'll take off my clothes for you tosee! If you can't cure it, then that means you're a fraud and get out ofMr. Ward's house!" Reeva raised her head and said fiercely.

"It's settled then!"

Lachlan also got angry and looked at Caelan. "Mr. Bates, what do youthink?"

Listening to his granddaughters bet with Lachlan, Caelan's face behindthe mask was extremely ugly!

His granddaughter not only made decisions for him but also used herown body as a bet!

It was simply outrageous!

But he had always loved his granddaughter very much and thoughtthat since Lachlan couldn't win anyway.

Then just treat it.

He was already like this anyway; even if he couldn't be cured anymore,he wouldn't get any worse!

In an effort to help out Erik, Caelan decided to expose this fraudster. Hegave Lachlan a cold stare before ultimately standing up.
