Chapter 20 In a little while, I'll make you cry"Reeva, admit defeat! Mr. Ward and I can step aside for now," Caelansaid, giving his granddaughter a deep look before putting on his maskand walking out.

It wasn't just for himself - he was willing to sell even his owngranddaughter. It was because Reeva had made a bet with Lachlan, andone's word should be their bond. Besides, Lachlan seemed interested inReeva - wasn't that a good thing?

"Mr. Willis seems like quite the ladies’ man,” Erik said suggestively as hefollowed Caelan out.

But in reality, Erik was calculating which of the eligible girls from theWard family were pretty enough to introduce to Lachlan.

When people wanted to get close to someone, it was most frighteningwhen they had no desires or expectations.

As Caelan and Erik left one after another, Reeva stood there at a loss forwhat to do next.

"You're already married with child! How shameless can you be?" shegritted her teeth and cursed him out.

The next second, she closed her eyes and looked as if she was about tomake a brave sacrifice.

"Fine! I'll admit defeat. Let's just say I am watched by a dog!" She saidas she began to undo her clothes to fulfill the bet.

However, at that moment, a warm hand grabbed her wrist and stoppedher actions.

"What do you mean? Do you still want to humiliate me?" Reeva askedangrily after being stunned for a moment.

Lachlan chuckled. "Forget it. Actually, I didn't win either. The bet wasthat I could cure your grandfather completely but he's not fully curedyet so let's call it even.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Reeva exclaimed in surprise, "What?"Just when she started having slightly better thoughts about this guy inher heart, Lachlan’s next words almost made her explode with anger."Besides... I'm not interested in seeing all of your thick body hair.”Lachlan sneered.

When Lachlan left the Ward family's house, it was already 8 pm.

Erik insisted on having dinner with him and Nora before sending Rowanto take Lachlan and his daughter home. Unfortunately, Lachlan hadsearched the Ward family's medicine room but didn't replace any DragonMarrow Herb. However, Nora was feeling much better now and wasn'tin a rush.

Two more days passed! During these two days, he mainly helped Noraenroll in school with the help of the Ward family's connections. Shewould be attending the same kindergarten as Chloe.

The two kids had a great time playing together that day when theyfound out that they would be going to school soon and could play withother children.

The next morning after Lachlan dropped off Nora at school, he calledMiranda to let her know he could start working today. She told him tocome directly to the company. When he arrived by taxi at the companyentrance though, security stopped him.

"Hold on there! Who are you?" A security guard gave Lachlan a once-over and asked, "Who are you?"

"I'm the new assistant to Ms. Lowe," Lachlan replied.

"I've never heard of an assistant for Ms. Lowe. Do you have anyidentification? If not, get lost!" the guard said rudely.

Lachlan frowned at his words. Miranda had told him that he was herexclusive driver and assistant from now on, but she hadn't given himany identification to prove it.

Just as he was about to call Miranda to ask her to talk to the guard, abeautiful figure caught his eye.

It was Shelly Parry, Miranda's secretary!

Miranda had told him before coming here that he should replace someonenamed Shelly Parry and she would arrange an office for him.

So when Lachlan saw Shelly's name tag approaching, his eyes lit upwith recognition.

"Are you Shelly Parry?" he called out excitedly. "I'm Ms. Lowe's newassistant and this guard doesn’t know me. Can you explain who I am?"As someone close to Miranda, Lachlan thought that Shelly must knowwhy he was there.

But after giving him a quick glance over her shoulder, Shelly asked in asarcastic tone, "Oh really? Who are you? I don't remember seeing youbefore.”

Lachlan felt anger boiling up inside of him at her mocking expression.He knew that she was deliberately making things difficult for him.

“I am Ms. Lowe's husband, she just called me to come to the company.As her secretary, don't you know?" Lachlan asked coldly.

"Ms. Lowe's husband? That's hilarious! You really think you're herhusband? You're just a dog, a tool for Ms. Lowe! Don't think that justbecause she called you back, you're someone important! Trash!" Shellysaid contemptuously, mercilessly humiliating Lachlan.

As Miranda's personal secretary, of course she knew that Miranda hadfound herself an "fiancé".

Shelly also knew what kind of person this "fiancé" was like and lookeddown on Lachlan even more in her heart.

Lachlan glared at her and suddenly his eyes flashed as he stared at thebeautiful secretary's chest with a cold smile on his lips!
