Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me -
Chapter49 Careful Thought
Wesley's hand crossed the dining table, stopping Harriet hand from a distance which reveled their intimate relationship, but no one dared to say anything as Wesley was big boss.
"Harriet did drink a lot, I will drink for her."
Bryant suddenly reached out his hand.
"It's not necessary for you."
Wesley glanced at Bryant without moving his hand but stop Bryant with his cool staring.
The glass of wine in Harriet's hand eventually returned to the table. No one dared to persuade her to drink more in the feast.
Late in the night, the crew in the restaurant was gradually dispersed.
Harriet and Wesley walked at the end. Bryant looked at them, and asked with a little tentative, "Harriet seems to be drunk. Someone has to send her home."
Wesley gave him a cold look, "Why? Are you going to send her home?"
Bryant was frightened by his words and quickly denied, "I don't mean that. I think Harriet will be home safely with your escort."
After he finished talking, he smiled and turned away quickly.
The black car galloped at high speed in the inner ring, and two figures on the rear seat were printed in the rear-view mirror of the car.
Harriet drank a lot, drunk and dizzy. After the car drove over a steep slope, her head sank and leaned on Wesley's shoulder, with her falling into lethargy. Wesley retracted his gaze at the outside and looked at her.
The crew had ended their shooting which meant that she would return to the apartment for a long period of time before the start of her new movie, as before. "Jack, when will her next show be filmed?"
"About half a month later."
"Speak to the person in charge and postpone it for a month."
Jack froze for a moment, "Boss, what about the loss of postponing a month..."
Seeing Wesley's unpleasant gaze in the rear-view mirror, he closed his mouth silently and stopped talking.
The next morning,
Harriet was dizzy when she woke up. She inexplicably felt familiar as she looked at a glass of water on table beside the bed, and then looked at the pajamas she had changed.
She could not remember how she changed clothes and took a shower as she had been drunk. It was not possible for her to remember to pour herself a glass of water on the bedside for next morning. She took the quilt and sat up, leaning on the bedside and watching the familiar items in the bedroom.
The remnants of the memory overlapped the figure of the person who took care of her last night and the memory of the drinking in the crew.
It was really him, Wesley.
There was a brief warmth flowing in Harriet's heart for the confirmation, but she felt uneasy after the warmth.
She and Wesley used to be a trading relationship, and it had not be changed till now. The only difference was that she used to get the money he gave without any personal feelings, but now she had become attaching to him because of his caring even though she did not know whether he did it unintentionally. She desired his warmth right now.
It was very late when Harriet got up. Harriet adjusted her mood to clean and put on makeup after checking the calendar.
She made an appointment with Colin and would like to accompany him for dinner today. It happened to be Saturday and Colin did not have the self-studying part at night. She could pick him up after school in the afternoon.
5:00 p.m.--
Harriet's car was parked on the side of the road, and she shook half of the window down. She saw a refreshing tall figure coming from a distance. It was Colin, who was chased by a little girl. The girl stopped Colin by stretching her hands in front of Colin.
Harriet pulled her sunglasses down and looked at them curiously.
But there were too many people around them and she could only see the girl's back.
She saw the little girl grabbing Colin's hand and shaking, seeming to be saying something coquettishly. Colin shook her hands away and looked nervously around. Then he talked with the little girl with a serious face.
Harriet could not help laughing out loud at them.
The boy grew up and had a girlfriend without telling her.
They seemed to reach an agreement for a few minutes. The little girl turned around and left. Colin pulled the schoolbag back to his back and went out of the school door.
Harriet rang the horn at him when he passed in front of the car.
Colin stopped to a step at the license plate for a while. His eyes were filled with joy and he quickly ran to the front driver seat. "Harriet!" He cried in surprise.
Harriet waved her hand and motioned him to get in the car.
"Harriet, why do you come to pick me up?"
Colin got on the co-pilot seat and asked her while wearing the seat belt, "Do you finishing your shooting in the crew?"
"The shooting has been ended and I have a lot of free time right now. I am here to check if you go to school on schedule."
Harriet pulled her sunglasses and hung it on the bridge of her nose like a decorated item. She had to pay attention to the traffic lights while preventing her from being recognized. She had been very careful since there were lots of rumors about her last time.
"Also, I have been here for a long time."
Harriet laughed, "I saw that little girl and you..."
"What...what little girl?"
Colin denied.
"Do you still pretend you do not have a girl friend?" Harriet freed her hand to mess up his hair, "Stupid boy, you are here to study and don't fall in love with someone. Make a confession otherwise I will blow your head."
"Harriet, I do not have a girlfriend."
Colin recalled what was happened and said helplessly, "I'm not in love, the girl you said. How could I explain...?"
He scratched his head, felling a little embarrassed,
"She does not study in our school, but she comes to see me these days. I have told her many times to stop her from coming but she didn't listen to me. I have no idea."
"How would she keep waiting for you if you had not done something with her?"
Colin had no choice but to confess how he met the girl, "She has been going to our tutoring class recently. She said it was me who made her fall, so I need to watch movies with her as compensation. I was really speechless to her."
"You are a silly boy."
Harriet laughed and almost fell down from her seat, with her hands holding the steering wheel shaking, "What's in your mind? Dou you fail to perceive the girl's feeling? The girl probably has a crush on you."
"What?"
"Don't be surprised. Do you think that is compensation that she punishes you to watch movies with her? You are really stupid, my brother!"
Harriet said with thrill, "Next time I have the opportunity to pick you up early, I will help you check it out and see how the little girl is. If she is a good girl, you should have a relationship right now."
It seemed to be agree that they could get married together. Colin originally didn't care much about it but he was blushed instead after listening to Harriet.
"Harriet, don't talk about it. We are even not a couple yet."
"She is so active, you have to give some response. Girls at young age are very resilient."
"She is not a little girl as she is about the same age as you."
After hearing this, Harriet was furious. "Hey? Why is it not a little girl when she is about the same age as me? I wonder if you can replace a girlfriend with your emotional intelligence...No girl would like you." Colin sighed helplessly.
Their parents' debating ability probably all inherited to Harriet while he got nothing. He always could not argue with Harriet even though he was right.
Harriet finally calmed down from the joy after driving a while as she thought her silly brother would never attract girls. But she pondered over the details and asked Colin, "Something was wrong. You just said that you met the girl at the bar and you saved her, right? How did you save her?"
Colin originally want to talked about it with some words so that Harriet did not need to check the details but he did not expect that Harriet had such careful thought even though it had been for a while.
