Chapter 21
Dorian sat on the chair and rubbed his aching temples.
The day before, he had been headed to the bathroom when he had heard a piercing scream from a room on the second floor. That was why he had rushed upstairs and kicked the door
open.
Collin had been there when Dorian had gotten into the room. Was he the one who had died?
95 year–old Collin had always been relatively healthy. Aside from the usual issues common among the elderly, he didn’t have any issues with his health. Yet, he had been found dead overnight.
Did Gisele really have something to do with this?
He didn’t think any further and left the room with his phone in hand.
When he reached downstairs, he was greeted by Jessie. “Mr. Dorian, breakfast is almost ready,” she said as she dried her hands. “Do you not want to have some before you go?”
“No need. When the police drop by later, just cooperate with their demands,” he instructed
in return.
Jessie looked shocked. Why would the police come over all of a sudden?
Oblivious and confused, she waited until 10:00 am before the police swarmed into the room
on the second floor.
Then, they transferred the unconscious Gisele to a hospital near the police station. She was to be questioned as soon as she woke up.
Worried, Jessie stopped the last police officer before he left and asked, “Sir, could I know what happened with Madam Gisele? Why are you taking her away?”
The police officer replied professionally, “She is suspected to be involved in a murder. We need to take her back for investigation.”
“W–What do you mean? Madam Gisele is the kindest person
She didn’t get to finish before the officer interrupted her. “Don’t worry, ma’am. If she is innocent, we’ll definitely do her justice.”
“O–Okay!” She stammered in response.
After the police left, Jessie was restless. She realized that this was a serious matter. She

instinctively made a call to Dorlan, but it didn’t go through. Hence, she could only call Jefferson Villa instead.

“Something is wrong, Alfred!” Jessie immediately exclaimed once the call had been picked
- up.
A woman’s arrogant voice rang out from the other end. “What happened, Jessie? You’re yelling before even checking who’s on the other side of the line.”
“Ms–Ms. Jefferson?” Jessie’s brain stopped functioning for a brief moment. Then, she fell silent, unsure if she should continue.
Zayla sat on the couch, admiring her new manicure. “What’s wrong, Jessie? Are What happened?” She urged impatiently. “Or is this news only for Alfred’s ears?”
“No–nothing.” Jessie didn’t know how to respond.
vou mute?
Other than Declan, none of the Jeffersons cared about Gisele. There was no telling what would happen if she told Zayla that Gisele had been taken away by the police.
Despite that, she was also worried about Gisele. So, she mustered up courage and said, Madam Gisele was taken away by the police. She still has a high fever and is unconscious too
”
“Ha! That b*tch has been finally apprehended by the authorities? Serves her right!” Zayla
snickered without a care.
She continued, “Are you sure she’s actually unconscious? And she still had you call the villa when she’s been arrested? Did she get in trouble and want Dad to help her out?”
“No, that’s not it. I called-”
Jessie didn’t get to finish before Zayla interrupted her impatiently. “It’s fine. It doesn’t matter. I understand the situation, and I’ll make sure to inform Dad.”
She hung up immediately after. She leaned on the sofa and narrowed her eyes. Gisele wasn’t even remotely good enough for Dorian. How dare she expect them to help her?
“Was that Jessie, Zayla? Did something happen to Don?” Celeste, who was about to head out, asked as she came downstairs.
Zayla raised a brow and told her why Jessie had called in contempt.
When she was done, she added, Dad can’t know about this, Celeste. That b*tch should go through some hardships, lest she continues to go after things that don’t belong to her!”
“Who should go through hardships now?” Declan’s solemn voice rang out from the door.
