Chapter 68

When Dorian heard the commotion, he ran over to the back of the store without a second thought. Aspen followed closely behind.

Over at the back of the store, Sierra lay disheveled amidst sacks of herbs. One of her ch*eks was swollen, and there were streaks of blood trickling from the corners of her l*ps. Her clean clothes were all dusty, and there was a cut on her arm which bled.

Dorian hurried over and helped Sierra up anxiously.

Then, he turned and pinned an accusatory look on Gisele. “Why are you always at odds with Sierra?”

Gisele, who had a penknife in her hand, was as pale as a sheet. She opened her m*uth ever so slightly. and mumbled incoherently. Nobody could catch what she said. However, seeing her petite frame shaking so badly would make anyone feel bad for her.

Aspen rushed up to her immediately. Then, he took off his jacket and put it on her. “Gigi, are you alright?” he asked gently.

As he asked, he carefully pried the penknife out of her hand.

The moment Gisele lifted her gaze, she met Dorian’s impassive expression. A bitter smile tugged on her

l*ps instantly.

She hadn’t even given an explanation yet, and he’d already decided that she was the one making things difficult for Sierra. Why did he never question whether it was Sierra who was slandering her?

“Don, i–it hurts.” Sierra felt uneasy at the look the couple were exchanging.

When Dorian turned to leave, he glared at Gisele and ordered, “Why are you still standing there like a

statue? Follow up!”

“Hold it right there.”

Aspen reached for Gisele’s hand, stopping her from going with them.

“Don, aren’t you going to replace out what exactly happened? Will you be pushing all the blame on Gigi just because she has the penknife in her hand?”

*Aspen, the weapon was in her hand. Who else could be the assailant if not her?”

Dorian narrowed his eyes. An uncomfortable feeling within grew larger with each passing second.

He didn’t like other people touching, or even thinking, about what belonged to him. But not only had Aspen done both of it, he was even showing it off and challenging him. That made him really furious.

Aspen disagreed, “Whether or not you think it was Gigi who did it, we need to judge based on evidence, don’t we? Even if there aren’t any surveillance cameras around, we can always replace fingerprints on the

penknife.”

Then, he continued with strong conviction, “Gigi has a medical background, I trust that she won’t harm

someone intentionally. Besides, she isn’t a fool. She wouldn’t do that in broad daylight.”

A glint of hope flashed in Gisele’s eyes. Did he really trust that she hadn’t hurt Sierra?

Sierra, however, was shocked. Did Aspen really trust Gisele that much? Or was he infatuated with her?

When she went to the back of the store with Gisele earlier on, Gisole had given no response to whatever she said. It wasn’t until the mention of her unborn bastard that she finally got worked up.

But before Gisele could do anything to her, she gave herself a hard slap and pulled out the penknife she brought along with her to draw a gash on her arm. Then, she pushed the penknife Into Gisele’s hand before finally collapsing into the sacks of herbs, pretending that it was Gisele who had shoved her.

How could her perfect plan be ruined by Aspen?

Sierra cowered as she lifted her gaze to look at Dorlan. The sharp contours of his face seemed cold, and his expression was so unfriendly at that moment that it made one want to stay away from him.

“D–Don, this isn’t Gisele’s fault. I had been careless….” Sierra said with trembling l*ps. Her face was drained

of any color.

Anyone who saw her in that pitiful state would take pity on her.

Dorian comforted her softly as his gaze fell on Aspen.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”

His gentle words brought a victorious smile to Sierra’s l*ps. When Dorian’s attention wasn’t on her, she

smirked and shot Gisele a challenging look.

Gisele sensed the tricks she had up her sleeves, but Aspen wasn’t about to back down. He looked like he

was about to go up against Dorian.

However, Gisele didn’t wish to have innocent people involved, so she asked softly, “So what should I do for you to forget about this?”

“Gigi…” Aspen muttered with his brows furrowed.

Gisele shook her head at him with a bitter smile. Even with surveillance footage as proof, Dorian would

not believe her. So what was the point of explaining?

A look of disappointment flashed in Dorian’s cold eyes. “Since you were the one who hurt Sierra, you will personally treat and take care of her for this period of time.”

Gisele froze up. Had he just ordered her, his legal wife, to take care of his mistress?

“Gigi isn’t free,” Aspen said, trying to help her out of it.

No one noticed when Jett walked in, but when he saw the scene, he asked in horror, “H–h–had someone broken in? Was it a robbery?/

“Don’t be scared, everyone. I’ve got surveillance cameras here. I’ll go get them…

Gisele ignored him and walked up to Dorian. Then, she flashed him the brightest smile she could manage,

and asked, “So what you mean to say is that if I wish to make it up to Ms. McMillan, I’ll have to go take

care of her. Is that right?”
