Chapter 64

1 bolted upright in bed, heart pounding. Ava’s last message was a chilling reminder of how far she was willing to go. She wasn’t just threatening me she was stalking me. I had to talk to someone.

I got out of bed and went to Monica’s bed. She was fast asleep because, of course she was, It was the middle of the night. I knew that Monica loved her beauty sleep. But I had to wake, her I had to tell her about the texts that Ava had been sending me

I leaned over and shook Monica’s shoulders with trembling hands. At first she didn’t make up. She just turned and faced the wall. I shook harder. Monica’s eyes opened then as she turned to look at me

“Ella! What’s wrong?” Monica’s voice was filled with confusion and concern.

“I’m so sorry I had to wake you up, Monica. But It’s Ava. She’s been sending me these insane, terrifying messages, and now she’s sent a photo of us from the Dean’s office. She’s watching us, Monica. She’s not going to stop.”

Monica

was quiet for a second, trying to make sense of everything that I had just told her. And then, finally, she spoke, her voice resolute. “That girl is a complete, fucking, psycho bitch and she needs to be stopped once and for all”

“I know. She’s insane but I don’t know how I’m going to stop her. She just keeps coming for me and I’m just…I’m so exhausted”

Monica pulled me into a hug then, her eyes narrowed with anger

“She’s not just a bully: she’s a psycho. But you don’t have to worry, Ella. You have people who care about you. If Ava tries anything, she’ll have to deal with more than just me.

Monica’s words gave me a sliver of comfort, but the fear sull guwed at me. “But what can we do? She’s always one step ahead”

“We’ll be ready for her. Trust me, Ella, You’re not alone in this,

The next day, I walked into school with a sense of foreboding. My eyes darted around, expecting Ava to jump out at any moment. Han the day passed without anything crazy like that happening..

The next day was normal too and I started to relax a little hit. Maybe Monica was right. Maybe I didn’t have anything to worry about. And then lunch came, and I realized that I had been so wrong

Ava and her thuggish friends were approaching me in the cafeteria. My stomach twisted with fear. I glanced around, hoping to see Monica or Liam. but they were nowhere in sight.

Ava’s friends were all bigger than me, intimidating she wolves who seemed to like all they did all day every day, was fight. They surrounded me in no time.

One of them, a tall girl named Briama, grabbed me by the collar and lifted me off the ground. Her eyes were cold and merciless.

“Looks like you’ve been causing a lot of trouble, Ella,” she sneered

Before I could react, two of Ava’s other friends grabbed my arms, holding me in place. Ava stepped forward, a wicked smile on her face. This is what happens when you mess with me.”

She slapped me hard across the face. Pain exploded in my cheek, and tears sprang to my eyes. Then she punched me in the stomach, and I doubled over in agony, struggling to breathe.

“You think

you can just expose me and get away with it?” Ava hissed, leaning in close. “You’re going to regret ever fucking with

Ella.”

I could barely focus through the pain, but I managed to spit out, “You’re just mad because everyone knows the truth now. You’re nothing but a

fraud.

Ava’s face contorted with rage, and she raised her hand to strike me again. Just as I braced myself for another blow, I heard a shout “Hey! Leave her

alonel”

I looked up through my tears and saw Sarah and a group of the nerdy she–wolves rushing towards us. They weren’t alone. There were dozens of them, all ready to defend me. My heart swelled with gratitude and hope.

What do you think you’re doing?” Sarah demanded, stepping between Ava and me. “You can’t just attack people because you’re mad you got caught

Ava’s face twisted with fury, “Stay out of this, nerd. This is between me and Ella.

“No, it’s not,” Sarah shot back. “You’ve been bullying everyone for years, and we’re sick of it. You’re nothing but a coward and a thief”

The other she–wolves chimed in, shaming and heckling Ava “Lover!” “Pathetic!” “Stealing someone else’s work because you can’t do anything yourself”

Ava’s face turned red with anger and embarrassment. “Shut u

“Shut up! All of you!”

But they didn’t. The crowd of she–wolves closed in, and a huge brawl erupted. I was still held by Brianna and the others, but now they were distracted, trying to fend off the onslaught of my defenders.

Taking advantage of the chaos, I managed to wriggle free from their grasp. Pain radiated through my body, but I forced myself to stay on my feet, The fight raged around me, a blur of fur and claws. I stumbled backward, nearly falling, but a pair of strong hands steadied me.

I turned to see Monica, her eyes blazing with determination. “You’re okay, Ella. We’ve got you.”

1 nodded weakly, too overwhelmed to speak. Monica and I watched as the battle continued, the air filled with growls and shouts. It was chaos, but it that so many people really were willing to rally around me. I couldn’t believe it

Suddenly, there was a loud crash as one of the tables was flipped over. Ava’s minions were starting to lose, their confidence waning in the face of all the other she wolves beating the shit out of them. I saw Brianna being pushed back by two smaller she–wolves who were fighting hard

Ava, realizing that her plan was failing, tried to make a break for it. But before she could get far, she was surrounded by a group of girls who blocked her escape route. They formed a tight circle around her.

Look at her,” one of the girls said, pointing at Ava. “She’s nothing without her goons. Just a scared little girl who got caught cheating.”

Ava’s eyes darted around, desperate for a way ou

a way out. “You’ll all pay for this!” she screamed, but her voice lacked its usual conviction. S defeated

She knew she was

Sarah stepped forward then, her voice calm but firm. “No, Ava. You’re the one who’s going to pay. We’re done being afraid of you. You’re just a

loser.

With that, the she–wolves closed in, and Ava’s screams were drowned out by the sounds of the fight. Ava and her minions were outnumbered. outmatched, and thoroughly humiliated.

Finally, Ava and her minions, backed off, battered and bruised. They knew that they could never try to attack me again because I had genuine supporters who would stand by me. I was so grateful for all the people that had come to support me

The adrenaline that had kept me standing started to fade, and the pain in my body became unbearable. My vision blurred, and the world started to spin. The last thing I heard before everything went black was Monica calling my name in a panic.
