Dead Luna -
Chapter 24
Amelia's POV
I've been in Iron Peak for less than 48 hours, and although the pack itself was impressive in size and in wealth, and the pack members I've met seem friendly enough, I'm not overly impressed. It's all shiny on the surface, but I just can't help feeling that if I looked deeper, I wouldn't like what I replace. These croissants are pretty damn good, though, Ambrosia adds. Apparently a continental style breakfast is typical here, with breads, sliced meats and cheeses, yogurt, muesli, and fruit.
Zachary joins me, his plate loaded with the sliced meats and cheeses on a crispy baguette, a bowl of cantaloupe, and a cup of strong black coffee in hand. It seems like he's in a bit of a hurry, but claims otherwise.
Zachary informs me that he has sent out notice to all the single wolves to come see me sometime during the next 3 mornings in the Luna's office, or to talk to me directly about an alternate time if that doesn't suit. He was planning a date for us this evening, so I'd have the whole afternoon to myself to get "dolled up", as he puts it.
After breakfast, Leo and I head to the Luna office where I replace Luna Veronica has everything organized for my meeting with all the unmated wolves, and "appointments" are to be done in alphabetical order, apparently.
The office is quite lovely, done in French country style (no surprise there), in tones of cream, beige, and pale blue. Her desk looks more ornamental than useful, in cream with gold accents, and Luna Veronica sits in her overstuffed cream wing back armchair. Leo sits in an identical chair that's been pushed into a corner, while I sit on a blue and beige tapestry loveseat with each wolf, starting with Bethany Alexander. The aged Luna is rather excited by the whole thing, and eager to watch.
Everything goes well for the first few wolves, until Zachary's twin brothers show up. They object to having their mother present, for starters. After a bit of heated discussion, the Luna grumbles about being kicked out of her own office, and she goes to wait in the hallway.
"Travis and Shawn Blake, correct?" I ask, only having met them briefly when I arrived, and seen them only in passing at mealtimes. They nod.
Ambrosia comes forward and looks at them a bit longer than she typically does, before making a sound of disgust, grumbling Selene be angry with these two boys! But I blame their brother for this fiasco.
"Umm, any idea why moon goddess might be unhappy with either of you? Did one of you reject your mate?" I ask.
"We both did!" Travis growls.
"Neither one of us was interested in our older brothers cast offs," Shawn interjected.
"We knew who our mates were a couple weeks before they turned 18, and we must have said something that was overheard. Because next thing we know, Zachary is showing interest in them and comes gloating to us about how good in bed they are." Travis tells me, sounding much aggrieved. "And because we knew the girls were our mate, we could feel the pains of betrayal and everything. It was akin to being stabbed in the heart."
"He was making them promises of being Luna, so they weren't exactly thrilled to be our mates anyway." Shawn said, and Travis nods his head in agreement. "We didn't see any other choice but to reject them."
"Don't bother to tell mum, though. She already knows, and says it's Zachary's right to do what he wants with pack members because he's the alpha." Travis continues. "She thinks we ought to have waited for Zachary to grow tired of them and take back the rejection. Who knows how long that'll take, though. He's probably in his room boinking them right now as we speak."
"Who are the girls?" I ask, but I think I may already know.
"Miranda Pringle and Grace Martin."
"Has he had many other girlfriends within the pack, do you know?" I ask, already knowing the answer. "Several." They both answer.
I decide to have an impromptu meeting with Alpha Zachary once I've finished up with Travis and Shawn Blake. Because of the extenuating circumstances regarding the rejection of their mates, Selene has decided to grant them both second chance mates, but only if I can get Zachary to make things right with the she wolves involved.
Leo and I head up to the top floor and open Zachary's bedroom door, to see a scene I had hoped I wouldn't see. Miranda was sitting on Zachary's face while Grace was pumping furiously up and down on his d**k, both girls moaning in pleasure. Not a stitch of clothing on any of them. And none of them noticed us, at first. So I took a seat while I waited for the show to be over.
"Oh, alpha, oh oh OOOH!" Grace came, apparently. Then Miranda was pushing her off and taking Graces place on Zachary's slick d**k.
Grace was the first one to notice me, with a squeal. "How long have you been here?"
"Long enough."
Then Zachary and Miranda are scrambling to cover themselves, and the girls are looking around the room for their clothes.
"Don't stop on my account." I tell them in a bored tone. "I wouldn't want to interrupt your fun."
"It's not what it looks like!" Zachary says in panic, as he tries to look me in the eye and put on his underwear at the same time, with minimal success. I give him a look of disbelief.
"Is that so?"
"Explain yourself, then," Leo scoffs.
Zachary looks around at the chaos in the room, Grace in nothing but a thong and an unbuttoned shirt, while Miranda tries to put on a bra while keeping covered in the bed sheet. He gives up and sits down on the edge of the bed. I tell the girls to sit down as well. "We need to fix things," I explain. "You have messed with several mate bonds, and Moon goddess is quite unhappy with you. There will be punishment, the severity of which will depend on whether you ever show remorse for what you've done to these girls, as well as their fated mates.
Zachary looks shocked. This isn't what he expected to hear at all.
"What do I have to do?" Zachary asks, with some trepidation.
"You have to right the wrongs you've done to your brothers. You stole their mates away with promises that you'd make them both a Luna, isn't that so?" I tell Zachary.
"Wait, he promised to make YOU Luna as well?" Miranda asks Grace, and then they both glare at Zachary. Miranda looks ready to scratch his eyes out.
"You must take both of these girls as your chosen mates."
