Dear Arthur Please Love Me Again by Arthur Clark -
Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Chris knocked on the table.
“We found a large sum of money in your supplementary card. You’ve spent a lot of it over the years, but the amount before you started spending matches precisely with what was lost from your father’s company,” he said.
“So it was your father who planned to run away with the money, and Chloe’s father discovered it, right?”
With Chris laying it all out, Amanda dropped her act.
She sat on the stool, holding her belly, laughing uproariously. After a long laugh, she began to cough violently.
“Three years, and you just figured it out? You’re useless!
“Arthur, you’re useless too! What good does arresting me now do? Can that b**h bet brought back to life?”
Chris asked again.
“Before Edward killed Chloe, he met with you. What did you tell him?”
Amanda ignored Chris’ question, her gaze fixed on the door.
“Don’t forget, Arthur, her death is partly on you!
“You’re the one who hung up her emergency call! You killed her! And that fool Edward, just like you, turned against Chloe after a few words from me. I heard he was cruel to her, wasn’t he?
“And her child with you was…”
Amanda’s words were cut off.
The interrogation room door was slammed open.
Arthur moved quickly.
He rushed to Amanda, grabbing her neck fiercely and lifting her off the stool.
Amanda’s legs kicked wildly in the air.
Arthur squeezed her throat hard, her face quickly turning red.
Arthur’s eyes bulged, his once handsome face now grim and twisted with resentment
and anger.
“You b**h, how could you hurt my Chloe like that?
“The one who should die is you! It’s you!”
Chris was horrified. “Arthur! Let her go!”
Arthur seemed deaf to the outside world, furiously berating Amanda.
I watched all this, and I had a strange feeling in my chest.
Chapter 16
Arthur, what was the point of doing all this now?
Amanda fainted and collapsed to the ground, dropped by Arthur like a dead weight. Arthur was gasping for air, much like a dying goldfish.
His hair was disheveled, his eyes bloodshot, his voice h o r s e and bitter.
“Chloe, is that you? Are you speaking?
“Don’t worry, I’ll avenge you. She deserves to die, she’s the one who should be dead!”
I shook my head.
“Wait for me, just wait, I’m coming to replace you!”
He looked in my direction, tears rolling down his face, his expression one of agony.
A breeze seemed to carry my spirit away.
I slowly faded into the air.
Goodbye, Arthur.
