Dear Ex-wife Marry Me Novel Full Episode -
Chapter 1914
After the dessert was set down, he placed it in front of Zoey.
Zoey suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
"Do you want to head back to Zion City after this? You've lost your memory and aren't familiar with this place. You can just go back to your teaching job, have dinner with Nolan every day, and that's it. I won't push you to do anything else."
Zoey nodded, slowly picking up her spoon to start on her dessert.
After finishing, she followed Fitch downstairs.
When they drove past a supermarket, Fitch went in to buy her some snacks.
"Eat in the car, in case you get hungry."
Zoey always felt overwhelmed when people were nice to her, not knowing why she reacted this way. When someone showed her kindness, she felt an urge to repay it twofold.
The driver glanced back at them, knowing the boss had a bit of a thing about cleanliness, especially eating in the car, which was usually a definite no-go, let alone snacking. No matter the snack, it would leave a scent.
Yet here was Fitch, personally feeding Zoey. Watching her obediently take small bites, his heart felt like it had been punched.
He rarely had such tender moments with Zoey.
Four years ago, he was constantly humiliating her, and their encounters four years later were confrontational. Such warmth was exceedingly rare.
He couldn't even recall when it last happened.
And their child was already over four years old. What a failure.
Or rather, what a failure he was as a husband.
Watching her, he reached over with a tissue to dab at the corner of her mouth.
Zoey tensed up, looking up at him.
Fitch retracted his hand, his tone gentle, "Want some milk? I've heard it's a specialty here. They say the beans grow really well."
Zoey actually felt a bit thirsty and nodded slowly.
As the car passed a quaint shop, Fitch asked the driver to stop. He stepped out, heading towards the shop known for its specialties in Pinewood.
He bought a cup, and noticing some hot dumplings next to it, he picked up a few.
Through the car window, Zoey watched his tall figure standing in front of the modest shop, feeling a bit of a contradiction.
But Fitch's presence was commanding, making anything around him secondary.
He returned quickly, even taking the straw wrapper off and offering it to her. "I got it."
She felt somewhat uncomfortable, taking the cup and drinking a few sips.
Fitch watched her, sensing her unease, and gradually looked away.
With her stomach now settled, after the panic and exhaustion of the previous night, the ride back felt surprisingly light.
After eating and drinking her fill, she started to feel drowsy and eventually fell asleep.
The driver quietly glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing how carefully Fitch adjusted Zoey's head onto his shoulder, his arm around her waist. The atmosphere in the car was tranquil, with no one speaking the entire ride.
Upon reaching the community, Fitch carried her out of the car.
Nolan was waiting in the lobby, his eyes wide as he looked at Zoey in Fitch's arms.
"Daddy, what's...?"
"Nothing's wrong, she's just asleep. Keep your voice down, let her rest."
Nolan nodded, following closely behind.
As Zoey lay in bed, she dreamt.
She dreamt of a bustling party below, with Fitch cornering her, his tone harsh.
The dream felt so real, including the embarrassment of possibly being discovered, her heart felt as if it was being nibbled on.
The scene shifted to a police station.
"I'll marry you, but you have to go inside for a year."
Zoey woke up startled, her heart racing.
