Fitch felt like his blood was boiling, something he hadn't experienced in years. It had been four years since he'd been intimate with a woman, and he'd started to joke that he was on the path to becoming a monk.

To be precise, even before Zoey entered his life, he hadn't been with any other woman. If anyone dared to touch him, he'd have the urge to chop off their hand. Zoey was the first woman to get so close to him. Trying to calm the storm inside, Fitch took a cold shower, but it did little to quell the restlessness. Lying in bed, he felt painfully hard. He got dressed and decided to go for a run instead.

After running a couple of laps, Ozzy, his loyal dog, followed him, wagging its tail. Another shower later, just as he was about to head downstairs for a glass of water, he saw Zoey in the kitchen, wearing a thin nightgown and pouring herself a drink.

The lights were off in the living room, but the kitchen was lit, making her nightgown almost transparent under the light, revealing her silhouette. The calm he had managed to replace was instantly shattered, his body reacting in the blink of an eye.

Oblivious, Zoey took her time drinking her water. It was 1 a.m., and thirst had woken her up. She'd been having nightmares about Mr. Jones the past few nights, and only tonight had she managed to sleep well When she turned and saw Fitch standing not too far away, she almost screamed. "Mr. Haskins, you're up for water?" she asked, once she realized it was him, relief washing over her. Fitch's gaze lingered on her collarbone, noticing how pale and inviting her skin looked, disheveled from sleep. Taking a deep breath, he quickly walked over to adjust her nightgown for her. Zoey was taken aback, only realizing what was happening when her gown was fixed. Being taller, Fitch got a glimpse of more than he bargained for. Zoey had forgotten to wear a bra... Looking down, Zoey noticed a few drops of blood on her nightgown and then saw the blood on Fitch's nose. Her face turned beet red as she covered herself, "Fitch, you have a nosebleed."

Her tone was a mix of embarrassment and irritation, no longer addressing him as formally as before. Fitch, smelling the blood, tried to wipe it away, only making it worse. If someone had told him he'd get a nosebleed over a woman, he would've laughed it off, convinced his body wouldn't react to any woman since the one he cared for was gone. Yet, here he was, a bloody mess.

Zoey went upstairs to put on a thicker coat and found Fitch trying to stop the bleeding when she returned. "Are you okay?" she asked, concern in her voice as she helped him clean up.

Fitch shook his head, embarrassed by the situation. As she leaned in, her scent overwhelmed him, making his head spin, and he instinctively pushed her away. "Keep your distance," he said, a bit too harshly, causing Zoey to nearly fall.

Realizing his reaction, she quickly explained, "Sorry, I wasn't trying to seduce you. I just saw the blood."

The implication stung. In her current state, any man might think she was coming onto them. "I've heard you're not interested in women," she added, her voice heavy with unspoken feelings. After cleaning his face, Fitch looked at her, a question in his eyes. "You think I'm not interested in women?"

Before she could respond, he pulled her towards him, seating her on his lap. His actions were bold, lifting her nightgown, revealing everything. Zoey was petrified, her mind blanking out at his actions. What... what was he doing?
