Maja and Carol thought they were hearing things.

"What did you say?"

Mia, with a smirk, realized her shock value and curled her lip in disdain.

"Looks like my brother kept it ultra-tight, huh? Even you guys are out of the loop. She's hidden in his mansion right now, haha." Maja couldn't sit still any longer. Piecing together that Fitch had been at the mansion for a week, she immediately stood up.

She drove straight to Fitch's mansion, feeling restless until she saw things for herself.

Carol was with her, considering she was also friends with Zoey.

Arriving outside the mansion, Maja's mind was in turmoil.

She rang the doorbell, but no one answered.

She called Fitch, and this time he answered.

"What's up?"

His tone was as indifferent as ever, no different from usual.

"I just ran into your sister. She said Zoey's alive, that you're hiding her in the mansion. Fitch, is it true?"

A shadow of anger flickered through Fitch's eyes. He had planned for Mia to stay in Greenfield for a month, but now it seemed he'd have to send her away within a week.

He stayed silent, and Maja guessed it was probably true. Fitch wasn't good at lying, especially not to friends.

Taking a deep breath, Maja said, "Let me see her."

"Not now."

"Why?"

"She doesn't remember us."

Maja was quick to understand Fitch's strategy. Because Zoey had lost her memory, he hid her away, hoping she'd fall for him again, so deeply that even upon learning the truth, she'd forgive him.

It was a calculated move.

Maja wanted to scold him, but thinking of Nolan, she just felt powerless.

"Fitch, I won't say much. You know how much you wronged her back then. Now that Mia's back, the feud between her and Zoey is a tangled mess. Zoey was lucky to survive the fire back then, but what if history repeats itself? Can you protect her from the Haskins family? If not, hand her over."

She was in a better position now. She had lan, Dylan Sanders, and Beck Sanders, her brothers, and her own entertainment empire, all capable of protecting Zoey.

Fitch's heart clenched at her words.

"I can protect her. You don't need to worry."

Fitch hung up.

Maja felt distressed, remembering the fire that destroyed all evidence, making Zoey's death seem certain. Now, she was alive, without her memories. How had she survived these four years? It was too painful to ponder.

Maja, sweating with anxiety, felt Carol's comforting pat on her shoulder.

"Let's go back. We probably won't see her today."

Fitch definitely wouldn't let Zoey meet anyone familiar now.

Maja glanced at the closed door one last time and sighed.

Meanwhile, Zoey, upstairs with Nolan, was oblivious to the drama below. She opened a nearby cabinet and found two red booklets.

Marriage certificates?

Fitch and his wife's marriage certificates?

It felt intrusive to pry open their privacy, so she closed the cabinet.

Nolan sat nearby, his nose buried in a book.

Curiosity got the better of Zoey, and she reopened the cabinet, just for a quick peek. She was genuinely curious about the woman who gave birth to such a handsome child as Nolan.
