Dear Ex-wife Marry Me Novel Full Episode -
Chapter 1948
Zoey's mind was a whirlwind of emotions, unsure of how to react. It wasn't until Fitch pulled her close, his hands wandering downwards, that she froze, soon replaceing herself sitting in his lap. Pretending to have just woken up, she mumbled, "I don't want to."
Lying on his chest, pressing down on him, he didn't seem to mind at all. "If you don't want to, we can just cuddle and sleep."
Zoey felt a lump in her throat, wondering which side of him was the real one. She didn't want to think about it, just lying there. In the darkness, Fitch whispered, "Babe."
She didn't respond, then felt what he wanted to do, biting back, "I thought we were resting?"
"I can't rest; you smell too good."
Zoey's cheeks flushed with anger and embarrassment. She pinched him, and hearing his yelp, she felt a wave of helplessness.
"What's wrong?"
"You pinched me hard."
He seemed genuinely in pain. Zoey slid off him, lying beside him with mixed feelings. After a silence, Fitch softly asked, "What's wrong?"
Zoey turned away, not wanting to talk. He pulled her close again, "Just kidding, it's fine."
Zoey still didn't want to talk. She had so many questions, yet she felt like she already knew the answers. He tried to seduce her with cheap tricks, but she didn't care.
After all, her parents were having a blast at Hilltop, sending her loads of photos. But the idea that he arranged for Henry to sleep with some random woman was something she couldn't accept. It felt like everyone was just a pawn in his game.
Her spirits sank, feeling a sense of resignation. Fitch held her tightly, "Babe, what's wrong? Are you upset? Hungry?"
Zoey shook her head, then he turned her around to face him. He kissed her forehead, "Tell me if something's bothering you."
Zoey opened her mouth to speak, but he kissed her deeply, leaving them both breathless. She glared at him, noticing a triumphant look in his eyes, her eyes welling up with tears. Fitch could be so unpredictable.
They fell asleep in each other's arms. But the next morning, Fitch noticed Zoey's cold demeanor.
They had been so happy these past few days, he had gotten carried away. Now, seeing her cold expression, he couldn't help feeling anxious.
Did she remember something? Couldn't she accept it? What was it?
Any little thing made him nervous, realizing he had let his guard down, thinking her willingness was a sign of affection. But now, Zoey's feelings were clearly not the same as they were four years ago, unable to bear any risks.
Zoey sat in the garden, looking at the flowers, hearing footsteps behind her but not turning around. Fitch hugged her from behind, "Babe, I messed up."
"Where did you go wrong?"
"I shouldn't have arranged those things."
He had thought it over and felt her change started last night, maybe Zoey had overheard those phone calls. Zoey's tension slowly eased, at least he was willing to be honest.
"You admit it?"
"Yeah, I wanted you too much, I'm sorry."
His quick admission left her at a loss for words. After a minute of silence, he asked, "The thing with Henry and that woman, did you set it up?"
"Not really, I had someone keep an eye on him, but that woman had her sights set on him for a while, drugged him, and my people just didn't help him, that's all."
A lie, it was all his doing. Rivals, of course, had to be nipped in the bud.
