Chapter 637

Meetman’s eyes were bloodshot from rage.

Maja, holding the contract, stood up and said, “Meetman, never forget the insult Harden threw at you.”

“How could I forget!” Meetman got so worked up that he started coughing.

Maja looked around; her nostrils filled with the smell of booze..

“Before you plan your revenge, clean yourself up first. And stop drinking, it’s messing with your judgement.” “I get

it.”

Meetman’s face turned red from the coughing. His life used to be pretty good before the false accusations. Now,

hiding in that grungy alley, even afraid to venture into the main streets for fear of being spotted by Harden’s

people, what’s the point of living? Other than drowning his sorrows in alcohol, he didn’t know what else to do.

Maja scribbled down her number, her eyes firm.

“I’ll let you know what to do next.”

With that, Maja left.

Meetman was stunned for a few seconds, then packed his stuff and followed them,

Stepping out of the alley; Maja finally got a breath of fresh air.

Cheap perfume, garbage, and alcohol lingered in the alley. Had she not seen it with her own eyes, she wouldn’t

have known such a place existed in Greenfield. Zoey drove Maja and Meetman away.

On the way home, Maja’s phone rang. It was from the hospital, saying Laura had woken up and the police had

taken her statement, asking how she wanted to handle it.

“I’m not for settling this out of court. Do what needs to be done.”

After hanging up, Harden called again.

“Ms. Pénnyfeather, do you really not care about Neil’s ashes? Are you not afraid I’ll mix them with pig feed and

feed it to the pigs?”

Maja’s fingers trembled, and then she chuckled, “Ms. Dickens, you said it yourself, I’m not Neil’s daughter. Why

would I care about his ashes? You should’ve figured out by now what kind of person I am.”

Harden was taken aback. Maja really didn’t care about Neil’s ashes?

Neil’s ashes were the only card she had left. If Maja didn’t even care about that, what else could she use to

threaten her?

Harden was fuming, gritting her teeth while Laura’s parents kept on threatening.

“If Laura is convicted, your photos with your assistant will be leaked. So, you better replace a way to get Laura out.”

Harden once brought her lover to the Tuttle family party and got photographed.

She took a deep breath, and said again to Maja on the other end of the phone, “Ms. Penny feather, can we meet

and talk?”

Maja flatly refused.

She wanted Harden to panic. The more panicked she was, the more likely she would slip up.

Seeing that she was hung up on, Harden slammed her hand on the table in fury,

“That bitch!”

Half an hour later, Maja brought Meetman to Rosewood Manor and showed him a tiny device the size of a

fingernail.

Meetman had cleaned himself up by then and had shaved off his beard.

He had a long cut on his chin, probably got distracted while shaving.

“This is a bug. Modern tech is pretty advanced, it can be implanted into your arm, so we need to take you in for

surgery.”

Harden was very cautious, it was hard to get any information out of her, and Maja didn’t want to expose herself.

Meetman took the bug.

Maja continued, “I’ll be putting some pressure on Harden soon. I still have some unfinished business with her. You

can take this opportunity to show your face to her, let her know that you haven’t given up and are still seeking help.

She’ll definitely reach out to you again. But Meetman, you need to be prepared. You might get beat up, but during

all that, you must get Harden to confess to everything she’s done. Then you can release the recording yourself. It’ll

have a much bigger impact than anything else.”

After all, Meetman–was the victim.

Meetman’s hand was trembling slightly. He took a small knife from the side, slit open his arm, and shoved the chip

in. His face was pale as a sheet.

“Alright, stitch it up.”

That was how–resolute he was!

Maja didn’t expect Meetman to be that eager, so she immediately sent him to the hospital.

A call came in from the Pennyfeather family mansion, saying someone was looking for Maja.

Maja drove over. Just as she parked, Harden‘ car came crashing into hers.

While the impact wasn’t severe, it was clearly a warning to Maja.

Harden got out of the car, holding a limited–edition handbag, and rolled her eyes at the sight of Maja’s luxury car.

person.

Maja also got out of the car.

que cam, still driving such a fancy car.”

laura She really looked down on Maja. If it weren’t for this cunning woman refusing to meet her, she wouldn’t have

had to come in
