Chapter 657

Maja didn’t fancy spilling the beans about her relationship with lan, so she just sucked it up.

“Mr Raymond said he’s lost interest in me. I can’t keep him around, so I gotta replace a new path, she admitted,

showing she was well aware that she was getting on

his nerves.

Beck’s eyebrows furrowed, puzzled by the statement. Upon hearing these words, he felt uncomfortable.

Though he himself was a bit of a player, he subconsciously believed that Maja shouldn’t be the kind of person to be

messed around with.

On the contrary, it was more likely she would be the one playing around with others.

“You shouldn’t worry about it. There are plenty of fish in the sea besides lan,” he said.

However, his family had once warned him not to cross paths with lan.

“When lan was in North America, he was burning the midnight oil studying data on Wall Street. Wall Street was the

turf of the big shots, and his sudden appearance as a young guy stirred the pot. They say they tossed lan into an

underground fight club,” he shared.

Maja felt a pang in her heart. She had never seen this so–called underground fight club, but if it was a plaything for

the rich, it must be brutal.

She looked at Beck, waiting for him to continue. But he paused, then turned to look at her.

“Mr. Sanders, what happened next? How did he get out?”

Beck chuckled, tapping his finger on the window frame.

“You know guns are legal in North America, right? So, the real big shots are those rich folks. lan quickly

accumulated wealth there. Now, the whole underground fight club is his turf. They say he got it through some do–

or–die betting.”

Maja’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. She couldn’t believe it.

She knew there was a dark side to lan, but she didn’t expect it to go this far.

Beck spoke lightly, his eyes always carrying a hint of a smile as he looked at people.

“The underground fight club brings in a staggering income daily. Later, lan returned to Wall Street and used that

money for a huge acquisition. Because of this, many people decided to jump off the roof.”

The truly powerful people didn’t break the law, but they used the loopholes in the law to their advantage.

Just like how lan once told her in Crystalbrook Valley, sometimes information asymmetry was a resource.

Beck supported his head with one hand, a hint of a smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

“So, it’s probably for the best that you two broke up peacefully. lan doesn’t seem like the type who’d fall for

someone.”

Maja didn’t say anything more. She had learned enough about lan recently.

The more she knew about him, the deeper she realized the darkness behind lan was.

The car stopped at the front of a five-story mansion. The iron gate slowly opened and someone came to greet

them.

Maja was not the center of attention today, so she followed behind Beck.

The person who came to greet them was very polite to Beck, after all, the Sanders family was a top–tier power in

North America.

Upon entering the hall, Maja immediately spotted a man in his fifties in the center, and sitting next to him was lan.

He sat closest to the chandelier, the cold white light making him appear pale and thin.

Perhaps because the room was too brightly lit, when lan looked at people, it always seemed like there were specks

of light scattering around like golden threads.

Clearly, lan and Beck had the same intention.

Nolan was chatting happily with lan.

When lan turned his head expressionlessly, he saw a man and woman who had just entered.

For some reason, he found the scene a bit dazzling.

Nolan immediately stood up and went to meet them.

“Mr. Sanders, I’ve heard so much about you.”

“Mr. Nolan, long time no see.”

Nolan’s gaze shifted to Maja, “And who might this be?”

“This is a friend of mine from Greenfield.”

“Alright, come on in. I’ll have someone pour you some coffee.”

Maja had heard that Nolan’s course at the Skyrim Film Academy was very popular. Students were scrambling to

take his class. If a script was selected by him, he would also help students connect with investors. Therefore, Nolan

had a good reputation.

Maja’s seat was right next to lan, making her feel a bit uncomfortable.

lan’s gaze also fell on her, so she had to greet him, “Mr. Raymond.”

But lan did not respond.

Maja didn’t feel awkward. After all, this wasn’t the first time he’d done this.

Still, she cursed him in her mind as an annoying man.

After venting in her mind, Maja focused on the conversation between Beck and Nolan.

Beck, the heir to the largest film company in North America, and Nolan, a maestro in the domestic script industry,

their conversation could potentially set the trend for the future
