Chapter 689

His fingers were trembling with anger. He wished he could storm out and deal with her like he did with those guys in

the elevator the night before. But he knew he couldn’t hurt her.

Did he really not like Penny before?

He found it hard to believe.

Half an hour later, Maja called him, “Mr. Raymond, come out and have some porridge.”

Her words now sounded to lan like the wicked queen offering a poisoned apple.

He was still wearing last night’s white shirt. The suit was long gone, and so were his shoes.

Maja brought the porridge to the table, and seeing lan coming out, she smiled slightly.

“Have some porridge.”

He probably hadn’t eaten since he was wining and dining at the hotel last night.

He had a stomach condition, and all they had at home now was porridge.

lan sat down, looking at the bowl of steaming porridge in front of him, noticing she hadn’t eaten.

“Why aren’t you eating?”

“I’m not hungry.”

She really wasn’t hungry.

lan’s aura instantly turned cold; his frosty eyes fixed on her.

There was a hint of red in the corner of his eye, unblinking as if trying to suck her in.

As soon as Maja sat across from him, he scooped up a spoonful of porridge and held it to her lips.

She didn’t hesitate, bowing her head to eat.

But lan suddenly pulled the spoon back.

Maja felt like he was deliberately messing with her, “Are you going to eat or not?”

If not, she could leave now.

“Do you want me to eat?”

“I cooked it especially for you.”

lan’s fingers stirred the porridge slowly. Hearing this, he asked, “Penny, what do you really want?”

Maja was a bit exasperated, pinching her brow, “Mr. Raymond, I want you to eat this porridge now and then leave.”

Looking into his eyes, for some reason, she saw a hint of hurt.

It was just a bowl of porridge. Why did it feel like a death sentence to him?

“Penny, come here.”

His tone was flat.

Maja got up and walked over to him. He suddenly hugged her waist and looked up at her.

“People can’t come back from the dead. You better not regret it.”

Maja was stunned.

Seeing her silence, lan immediately felt disappointed. How could he have thought she liked him?

She didn’t like him at all.

Maja was starting to understand. Did lan not like porridge?

She wasn’t really sure what lan liked.

“If Mr. Raymond doesn’t want to drink it, then don’t.”

After all, Jeff would prepare breakfast for him at the office, and her efforts seemed redundant.

“Really?”

“Yes.”

He sighed in relief, but then, his face turned gloomy again.

Why did he have such thoughts?

Could it be that if she insisted, he would really drink the porridge?

Maja glanced at the clock on the wall, and it was getting a bit late.

“Please have Jeff bring over your clothes.”

She needed to go to the office.

“So what about you becoming my lover?”

“Mr. Raymond,”

Maja untangled her hand from his waist, her tone calm, “1 never told you, but I have someone I like.”

lan’s fingers tightened slightly; he suddenly felt he’d rather quietly drink the porridge.

He felt awkward now, and his voice lowering, “Didn’t you just get divorced not long ago?”

“The reason I divorced my ex–husband is because I didn’t love him. I’ve always had someone else in my heart, he’s

my first love. And the relationship between Mr. Raymond and I wasn’t lovers, I sought your help, you proposed a

ten–time deal, and I accepted. I divorced my ex–husband simply because I didn’t love him, that’s

all.”

She picked up the bag nearby, sometimes thinking lan was even a few months younger than her. He was ruthless in

work, but in terms of romantic relations, he seemed capricious and petty.

lan fell silent, and he had thought she divorced her ex–husband because of him.

But that wasn’t the case.

He was just presumptuous

She had someone she liked.
