Dear Ex-wife Marry Me Novel Full Episode -
Chapter 709
Chapter 709
Maja’s eyes were deep and thoughtful just as the elevator doors slid open.
Murray, with his arm around the lady’s waist, said, “We’re at the top floor now. We might run into the big boss of
this company. Brace yourself. We’re just here to deliver lunch, then we’re out of here.”
Zoey’s workstation was right on this floor. At this moment, all eyes on the floor were on them since it was break
time.
The lady cooled down, vented a few complaints, and followed behind Murray.
Zoey spotted Murray right away and hurried over.
“Murray.”
Just as Murray was about to respond, Zoey turned to Maja.
“Mr. Pennyfeather, I’ve put the documents you need for the afternoon on the conference room table. Once you’ve
reviewed them, I’ll distribute them to upper management.”
Maja nodded, catching a glimpse of the lady’s face turning sour and Murray’s embarrassment.
He frowned nervously, “Zoey, she’s your friend?”
Zoey quickly introduced, “This is our company’s CEO, my direct boss. Murray, did you guys come up together?”
Thinking about the possibility that Maja might have overheard his conversation with his mom and even seeing him
getting cozy with Evelyn at the art exhibition, Murray felt uneasy.
Even the lady felt awkward and stayed silent.
Zoey felt the strange tension and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”
Maja laughed, “Nothing. Zoey, is this your fiancé?”
Zoey nodded sweetly, a bit embarrassed. After all, it was Murray’s first time delivering lunch to her workplace.
“Yes, Mr. Pennyfeather. If they’re bothering anyone, I’ll have them leave right away.”
“No need.”
Maja’s gaze landed on the lady. Her present embarrassment was in stark contrast to her earlier bravado.
She hadn’t expected this young woman to be the CEO of this huge company, and she had even overheard her
belittling Zoey.
She felt a bit uneasy, knowing Zoey was a competent worker, and her son hadn’t completely won over Evelyn yet.
Whether he could become the son–in–law of the Farley family was still up in the air..
So, she decided to keep Zoey on her side, which was why she agreed to accompany them today. She wanted to use
this opportunity to make Zoey more reliant on her son.
But now, with Maja present, her plan couldn’t be carried out, and she wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Maja, however, said, “Let them go to the lounge nearby, don’t stand here. I could use a cup of coffee.”
Zoey immediately led Murray and the lady to the lounge.
As the lady sat down, she couldn’t help but look around.
She was a country girl in her younger years, and it was only when she married a man who was educated in the
countryside that she had the chance to change her destiny and move to Greenfield.
But without proper education, replaceing a job in Greenfield was no easy feat. Though opportunities were plenty, they
were only for those who were capable. Luckily, she had an exceptional son who got into Solstice College.
Their family finally bought a house, having just paid off all the mortgage recently. Everyone was looking forward to
having Zoey join the family. She could help take care of them. However, their son got a promotion and became a
manager, and even met the daughter of his boss.
The lady shifted her gaze, softly asking Murray, “That woman, she heard our conversation. Is that going to be a
problem?”
Murray also felt uncomfortable. He still had feelings for Zoey. He was just a bit shaken, but he never truly wanted to
leave Zoey.
He admitted he was dazzled by the places Evelyn took him to, but every time he faced Zoey, he would feel guilty.
Zoey was a good girl, always up early for school. She was always working, and even doing face masks at the airport
just so they could have a cozy little home.
Sometimes he was ashamed of his wavering but couldn’t resist the allure Evelyn brought.
Now, the presence of Penny was like a ticking time bomb. If Penny disclosed this matter to Zoey, his relationship
with Zoey would definitely end.
And he had already introduced Zoey to his friends. If Zoey made his infidelity public, he would feel embarrassed.
He knew he should feel guilty towards Zoey, but whenever he thought of what Zoey might do, he would feel
irritated.
Meanwhile, Zoey served Maja a cup of coffee, looking a bit embarrassed.
“Mr. Pennyfeather, I’ll go chat with them.”
After all, she was still a young woman, and the man was someone she had been in love with for seven years.
Maja felt a bit sorry for her but could only continue to caution her.
“It seems your future mother–in–law isn’t too fond of you?”
“A bit. Because I used to work too much and didn’t have time to communicate with them, but I’ll change that.”
Her eyes were so bright that Maja couldn’t bear to see them dim.
She opened her mouth, struggling to say, “I saw your fiancé at the art exhibition. He was with another woman.”
She thought Zoey would understand with that hint.
But Zoey just laughed, “That’s his female client. Murray works in sales. He deals with these clients every day,
sometimes he even needs to entertain them to secure orders. It’s just the way it is.”
Love often blinded women.
