Chapter 89

Maja might have just been slow on the uptake, but she was chilled out now. She plastered a polite

smile on her face. 1 just felt I might have accidentally overheard some private stuff about Mr Raymond,

and I was a bit flustered” After all, if this juicy gossip got out to the press, it’d probably be splashed all

over the front pages tomorrow.

Over the past few years, there have been no whispers of him tying the knot. If that got out, it’d be a big

deal.

He was the heir to the Raymond Group and the youngest hotshot in business right now. The dude even

set up his own company in Silicon Valley straight out of school. No wonder his grandpa, Holden, was

so proud.

His private life was bound to attract a lot of attention

lan closed the file on his lap, “Miss Penny isn’t the gossipy type.”

His tone was casual as his gaze landed on the Rosewood Manor mansion outside.

Jeff thought he was going to go in, but he just said, “Let someone bring some of my clothes in there.”

Jeff nodded and made a turn, politely saying to Maja, “Ms. Pennyfeather, I’ll drop you at your

apartment.” Maja’s flat was already sold, and all that was left to do was to sigh the paperwork. It was

perfect timing. “Alright, thanks.”

We should be thanking you, Ms. Pennyfeather.”

The car fell silent. After it stopped at the apartment, the car picking up lan–was already there.

lan left quickly. Maja stood by her car, making sure they were really gone, before she called the agent

to sign the contract.

The agent had been waiting for her call, so the contract was signed in less than half an hour.

Now all Maja had to do was wait for the bank transfer.

She drove back to Rosewood Manor. She couldn’t help but chuckle when she saw Maria waiting

anxiously outside. “Maria.”

Maria craned her neck to check behind her and let out a sigh of relief when she saw no one else

around.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, what’s going on?”

“Nothing was just worried Mr. Raymond might show up. I have some stuff in the car; get someone to

help bring it in.“. Maria was also not used to seeing lan. If he showed up out of the blue, she’d probably

freak out.

Now that he wasn’t coming, she relaxed a bit and went to help unload the car!

After putting the eatables in the fridge, she looked at the high–end bag in her hand, “Ms. Pennyfeather,

what’s this?”

Maja glanced at it and remembered she forgot to return lan’s shirt.

“Give it to me; it’s not mine.”

She took the bag with the shirt and retreated to her room for some rest. After all, traveling could be

tiring..

She slept until the evening. After freshening up and coming downstairs, she remembered lan saying

something about sending his stuff over and instructed Maria, “Maria, get the guest room furthest from

the master bedroom ready. If Mr. Raymond sends his stuff over, it should be put in the master

bedroom.”

Maria looked a bit downcast. She sighed after a while.

Ms. Pennyfeather, maybe I should tell Holden about Ms. Casson’s attitude towards you. Holden has

been asking about you on the phone and thinks you and Mr. Raymond are close. Now that Ms. Casson

won’t let you sleep in the same bed with your husband, isn’t that bullying? Where’s the logic in the wife

living in the guest room?”

Maria couldn’t stand to see this. She was sent by Holden to take care of Maja. Over the years, her

affection for Maja grew deeper, and she saw her as a daughter of her own.

“Maria, it’s okay. Our marriage is bound to end. I don’t want any ties with him before the divorce. So,

sleeping in separate rooms suits me just fine.”

Left with no choice, Maria instructed someone to prepare the room.

Everything belonging to Maja in the master bedroom was moved to the room at the end of the hallway.

Maja didn’t have much stuff, so it was done pretty quickly.

She decided to spend the night in the guest room. Before going to bed, she sent the design to lan. If he

didn’t reply like before, she might have to go with her own design and look for a

construction team.

The next morning, she woke up to lan’s reply,

“Hmm.”

Maja was a bit frustrated. This was her first time dealing with such a nonchalant client.

“Mr. Raymond, do you need a third party to supervise the project?”

Third–party supervision was mainly for the owner to oversee the construction process and report back

to the client in real–time

But it seemed lan was really planning to be a laid–back owner from start to finish, so his reply came a

bit faster this time.

“No need.”

Maja remembered that this house was, after all, designed for his beloved.

Maja pondered for a moment and then dialed his number.
