(Johnnie)

I chewed on my bottom lip anxiously, my hand tapping the steering wheel as I waited for the red light in front of me to turn green.

That's when I heard my phone ring as a small part of me hoped it was Caspian telling me to come back home..but no such luck.. "Hey bestie..today is your first day!! You on your way there yet?" Anna asked excitedly, making me let out a sigh.

"I'm just a few blocks away.." I grumbled.

"Jo..come on, show some f*****g enthusiasm. Caspian and Everett will be fine. I think Moose and Milo are actually meeting up with him and your brother at the park later to hangout." Anna informed me, causing me to gasp. "What?! He didn't tell me about that..what the hell.."

"Did you expect him to stay home all day and mope around until you got back?" She teased.

"Yeah..kind of.." I confessed, making Anna burst into laughter.

"You are just as bad as he is now."

Am I? I mean..I do feel kind of jealous that he is going somewhere without me. I can't help it!! This is our first real summer with Everett. Before he was just a tiny baby so we didn't really go out much. But now he loves to go to the park and play on the swing set. "Jo, just focus on today..I know this is hard for you, but you have to at least give it a try." Anna said calmly, making me grow suspicious.

"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?" I asked, making her scoff. Usually Anna would tell me to just skip and meet her at the bar for a drink instead..so this response was very mature for her.

"Whatever..I'm just saying that this has been your dream since we were kids. I know you have Caspian and Evie now..but you have to do this for yourself. Even that big ape can see that.." She explained, making my heart ache as I let out a shuddering breath. "You're right..thanks Anna.." I whispered, feeling emotional for some reason. I guess in a way..this all seems too good to be true, and I'm scared that the other shoe will drop.

How the hell can my life be going so perfectly? I have a husband who supports me 100%..a son who is perfect in every way possible..my family is closer than ever and now I'm getting the opportunity to intern at my dream job..how did I get so lucky? "Okay, now go in there and rock that s**t and if it completely sucks..then just bail and we can go to the bar and get wasted instead."

Yep..there she is..

"Okay, I love you Anna, I will call you tonight." I said before hanging up and driving the rest of the way to the studio.

After parking the car and texting Capsian that I got there safe, I grabbed my purse and began making my way into the building.

Today I wore a pair of black slacks, a cream colored silk cami, and a black jacket over it..I wasn't sure what to wear exactly..considering this is kind of a professional setting so I opted for this.

I quickly ran my fingers through my long blonde hair and let out a deep breath..

You can do this..you are Johnnie King..and if it doesn't work out, that's fine too.

I nodded to myself once and stepped forward, walking towards the large building and heading for the front doors.

The moment I walked inside, I was met with a security checkpoint, and walked up to it nervously.

My eyes landed on a young man who was standing beside some sort of badge-scanning machine as I nervously began to approach him.

"Um, hello..my name is Johnnie King and it's my first day." I stated, trying not to seem too intimidated.

The man looked me over carefully before glancing back towards a desk to the side.

"Walk over there and speak with Mike, he will get you checked in."

I smiled in response and did what he instructed, walking towards the desk quickly.

"Hello, today is my first day.." I began, speaking to an older man with salt and pepper hair.

"I'm going to need your I.D." He interrupted, making me fish around in my purse and pull out my wallet.

I handed it over, seeing the man study my I.D. before glancing up at me and back down.

"King huh?" He asked, making my eyes widen before I nodded nervously. Oh god..did he know about all the drama with Dave or something? Wouldn't be the first time we ran into someone who was screwed over by Dave King and disgruntled about it. "My boy Evan plays with your husband on the college team." He stated, making my mouth open in surprise as I soon smiled brightly.

"Evan Cooper?" I asked, making Mike nod his head happily.

"Yep, that's the one. He's a pain in my a*s most of the time but when it comes to hockey, it keeps him in line." He laughed, making me join in as we made some more small talk and I was eventually given a badge to enter into the building.

I waved at Mike happily before scanning my badge and walking through the metal detectors. Maybe this won't be so bad after all. At least I seemed to meet someone friendly so far..I hope the rest of my coworkers will be like that.

I rounded a corner, trying to replace my way to where I was supposed to go when I suddenly ran smack dab into someone. The collision caused me to go stumbling back and almost land flat on my ass...but before I could, I felt someone grab onto my waist, stopping me mid-fall.

I glanced up, surprise filling me as a pair of brown eyes were now peering down at me.

"I am so sorry. I didn't see you there." I rushed out, feeling embarrassed as this man continued to hold onto me.

I swear he just stood there...not saying a word for a good thirty seconds.

"Umm..I didn't hurt you did I?" I asked worriedly..hoping Ididn't cause him to hit his head or something..

That's when the man seemed to finally snap out of whatever trance he seemed to be in. His hand loosened from around my waist before he cleared his throat and straightened his back. "What's your name?" The man barked, making me flinch by the tone of his voice.

"Johnnie King." I answered, wondering if I would be let go on my first day already..

That's when I noticed a small red-haired woman step out from behind the rather large man. She was holding a tablet and flashed it to him quickly.

"The new intern." The man mumbled, making me nod once as I tried not to show how nervous I was.

"Sir, the meeting..we don't want to be late." The redhead whispered, her blue eyes snapping towards me before a scowl set on her face.

What was her problem? Not like I did this on purpose..

The man turned his head back towards me, his eyes traveling up and down my body quickly before meeting my gaze.

"Mrs. King, I do hope you watch where you are going in the future..you never know who you might be running into." He said firmly and stepped to the side before walking off.. Okay..that was weird..who was that guy anyway?! He seemed like a freaking jerk.

I scurried down the hall, trying to replace where I was supposed to go when I finally spotted it..thank god..but what I wasn't expecting was seeing a familiar face when I got in there... What the heck was she doing here?!
