Desert Heat Chapter 36

“Everything is fine, they are taking me there so Brandon can fully turn me. Best to be under the watchful eye of the doctor,” Leah told them. They all nodded their heads, and we all went our separate ways.

By the time we got there, Dr. Quinn already had a room ready for Leah. She changed into her hospital gown and laid on the bed. We all took a seat in the room and just waited.

“Good evening Beta Leah, it is a pleasure to finally meet you,” Dr. Quinn said coming in.

“Hello, Doctor, it is a pleasure to meet you as well,” Leah said

“Beta, please take your place, and get ready. Once I have finished writing down her current vitals, we can proceed,” Brandon nodded and sat on Leah’s bed.

“You can do this Leah, it should be a cakewalk for you,” he said and kissed her forehead.

“He is right, Leah. Since you are a hybrid, you should only experience some of the symptoms. It will mostly consist of chills, and fever, and a mild seizure. Since you are half-wolf, it is possible your wolf is only suppressed by your human genes and will surface much faster than the Luna or Gamma,” Dr. Quinn added.

“Lucky hoe,” Sin muttered under her breath. We all just laughed.

“You know that term really doesn’t fit me Sin. How I can be a hoe if I am still a virgin?” Leah snapped at her

“Whatever! Don’t be so technical,” Sin said and stuck out her tongue. I just shook my head and leaned against Dorian.

“Are you tired, baby?” He asked softly, and I nodded my head.

“But I need to stay awake for Leah,”

“Doctor, how long will this take her?” Sin asked

“Honestly, Gamma, it should only take a couple of hours. No more than five,” Dr. Quinn said and placed the IV in Leah’s arm. “Alright, we are set. Beta, whenever you are ready, you may begin,”

“Sweetcheeks, this is going to hurt,” he said as he leaned into her neck. Leah took a deep breath and held onto Brandon’s shoulders. “I love you,” he said and then bit down. A few seconds, Leah started to scream in pain which indicated Brandon’s venom entered her bloodstream.

“Leah, I need you to breathe!” Dr. Quinn said as Leah’s heart rate started to increase and her b***d pressure rise. Leah was taking short rapid breaths and kept her eyes on Brandon. I looked back at Dorian with a worried face.

“She will be fine, there is minimal risk to her because she is a hybrid,” he reassured me. I nodded my head. Leah had quickly become one of my closest friends. When Sin first introduced us, it was over the phone, but I never maintained actual contact with her. I honestly had no reason to, but after finally meeting her, hanging out with her, and actually getting to know her, I felt so drawn to her. She was a good person and an amazing soul.

About an hour later, Leah started to show signs of exhaustion and fatigue. She had a fever, but it wasn’t too bad, compared to what Sin and I had to go through. She didn’t vomit or have any other major symptoms. Unlike what Dr. Quinn had said, she didn’t even experience chills. She was sweating from the fever. She was doing better with the partial transition than anyone had expected. Once Leah was resting, Dr. Quinn had left to go replace Elder Maxwell.

Sin and Mikey had fallen asleep, and so did Dorian. I sat in the chair next to Brandon as we both watched over Leah.

“Allie, you can rest, you don’t have to wait,”

“Yes, I do. You waited for me and Sin. The least I can do is wait for Leah,” I took his hand in mine and kissed his cheek. “Can I tell you something, Brandon?”

“Sure,”

“When I first met you and the guys at the club, and Sin was talking about mates and stuff, I was actually a little bummed it wasn’t you,”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I mean, I love Dorian, even more now that I can feel the bond between us, but when I was human, a little part of me wished it was you,”

“Truth be told, I was a little jealous of Dorian that day too. He was the one that requested you to be the bottle girl,”

“I figured just as much once I found out I was his mate, and how filthy stinking rich he is,”

“When I first saw you though, I thought you were the prettiest human I had ever seen, and you were completely unphased by the dozen hot sexy werewolves that were right in front of you. All your friends had no problem with flirting with us, and of course, Mikey found Sin immediately,”

“My past had a lot to do with it, honestly. I hated men. I hated all men. I felt that all men wanted, was s*x, alcohol, and drugs. When I saw you guys, I thought ‘damn, why can’t all guys look that yummy?’ It was the first dirty thought that I had about the male species in a long time. Then I locked eyes with Dorian. I felt something, but I just thought I was being horny, haha. Then all the s**t with Devin went down and I met you. Your kindness that day is what drew me to you first,”

“Do you regret being mated to Dorian?”

“God no. I love him so much. Between you and me, I want to marry Dorian and spend the rest of my life with him, not just as mates, but as husband and wife,”

“He would be really happy to hear that. I know firsthand how in love he is with you, and I don’t blame him. You are an amazing woman Allie, you bring out the best in people, you’re wicked smart, and have a good head on your shoulders. No one would ever believe the s**t you went through,”

“I appreciate that coming from you, Brandon. Other than Sin and Dorian, you are definitely one of my most favorite people. I love you, Brandon. I love you like a big brother and best friend. I only want what is best for you, and I know that that is Leah,” Brandon kissed my forehead and we watched Leah rest.

{Dorian’s P.O.V.}

I stirred awake when I felt that Allie was no longer next to me, I looked up and saw that she was sitting with Brandon watching over Leah. I overheard their conversation.

“When Sin was talking about mates and stuff, I was actually a little bummed it wasn’t you,” hearing Allie say that felt like a dagger through my heart. Did she regret being with me?

“I love Dorian, even more now that I can feel the bond between us, but when I was human, a little part of me wished it was you,” I felt a little better hearing that, but still. Why would she be telling Brandon all of this? They went back and forth for a little bit, and I felt my heartbreaking. Allie had never had a deep conversation like this with me. I mean, I get that she and Brandon are close, but I still couldn’t help what I felt. Did my mate love Brandon more than me? Did she only love me because of the bond?

“Do you regret being mated to Dorian?” I heard Brandon ask her. I couldn’t bear to hear her answer,

“God no. I love him so much. Between you and me, I want to marry Dorian and spend the rest of my life with him, not just as mates, but as husband and wife,”

Did I hear her right? Allie wants to marry me. My heart started to race, I caught the breath in my throat and gulped. I knew I wanted to marry Allie the day I met her, but this, this moment, hearing her say she wanted to be my wife made me fall even more in love with her, if it was even possible. I made up my mind. On the night of their shift, I was going to propose to Allie in front of the entire pack.

{Brandon’s P.O.V.}

As we waited a little while longer, Leah started to seize,

“s**t!” I immediately shot up and pushed Leah onto her side. “Allie go get Dr. Quinn!” I shouted and Allie ran out of the door. She came back within a minute, and Dr. Quinn plunged the syringe into Leah’s neck. This was Deja vu for all of us. After a minute or so, Leah calmed down and relaxed.

“That didn’t take long did it,” Dr. Quinn asked. I saw Allie look at the clock in the room, and it had only been three hours since I bit Leah. What was up with our mates and transitioning ahead of schedule. I caressed Leah’s cheek and I saw that commotion woke everyone up.

“Leah, sweetheart can you hear me?” her eyes started to flutter open. She looked around the room and then back at me.

“Why do I feel like I was kicked by a horse?” she asked.

“You had a mild seizure Leah, but it’s normal as I stated before. In a few minutes, your wolf will attempt to contact you,” Dr. Quinn said

“Your headache will get worse, so just try and relax,” Allie told her.

Brandon

Yeah, boss?

I heard your conversation with Allie,

Oh, Dorian, it’s not…

I’m not mad, I’m glad I heard it. I got to hear her true feelings.

Dorian, she loves you, man. What she and I have is a close friendship, nothing more.

I understand, and I am glad that she can turn to you as a friend and as a brother. Just like I can.

I’m sure you heard what else she said then?

I did

I smiled. I guess it was not just between Allie and me. If I know Dorian, and I do, he already has a ring picked out for her.

{Leah’s P.O.V.}

Leah?

What?

Leah, wake up

Why?

Because it’s time

Time for what?

For us to meet our sisters

I don’t have any…Wait, who is this?

I shot my eyes open and looked around. I only saw my friends and Brandon.

“What the…”

“What’s wrong sweet cheeks?” I heard Brandon ask.

“I know that look,” Allie said. “Her wolf contacted her,”

“Is that true?” Brandon asked. I just nodded my head. Just then, the doors opened and in walked the doctor and some older man I didn’t know.

“Elder Maxwell, this is Leah, the Beta Female,” the doctor said introducing me.

“Leah, it is a pleasure. Has your wolf contacted you yet?” he asked. I nodded my head.

“Just now actually,” I replied.

“Perfect, has she told you her name yet?” he asked

“Venus?” I said with uncertainty.

You got it. I heard her again.

“Hey, don’t be showing up like that, you’re freaking me out,” I said out loud. Everyone started to laugh.

“She is the one, she is the third blessed wolf,” the elder said. We all smiled and looked at each other. “This calls for a celebration,” he said with a huge smile.

“I already have the logistics planned out,” Dorian chimed in. We all looked at him. “Brandon and Leah still need to mate and we all need to be marked, we will celebrate the future of this pack with Allie’s official Luna Ceremony, our mates will turn, and we will have our pack run,” Dorian said.

“Alpha, when shall we commence the ceremonies?” the elder asked.

“The full moon, it is in eight days,” Dorian responded. We all nodded our heads.

Brandon looked down at me and winked. Oh, my goddess, I was finally going to mate with Brandon.
