Desert Heat Chapter 46

{Allie’s P.O.V.}

Today is the day, or should I say tonight is the night. The girls and I were getting ready in my room, and Dorian was getting ready in Brandon’s room. Eleanor made the final touches to my Luna Dress and brought it to the packhouse.

Amber took care of my hair while I did my own makeup. I wanted to keep it light, but still sophisticated. Amber put my hair into a long braid with flowers mixed in and let some of my natural curls stay loose framing my face. Eleanor refused to let me eat anything and only allowed protein a shake and water until after the ceremony.

Amber was constantly smiling at me in the mirror, and I could not figure out why.

“Amber, what is it?”

“What is what doll?” she asked.

“You keep smiling at me, why?”

“Because you are beautiful, and you are about to have your first shift,” She smiled again and kept working on the final touches to my hair. Something was off about her. “All set,” she said. I smiled at the hairdo she did.

“Alright, Allie, let’s get you in your dress,” I stood up and went into my closet where Sin and Leah were putting on their dresses. Their dresses plain, but still beautiful. They both wore cream-colored dresses. Eleanor pulled out my mint green dress with flecks of emerald. It was an A-line dress with a sweetheart neckline and a long sheer train that started from the waist and flowed out.

“You look like a bride,” Leah said.

“What bride wears mint green?” I asked laughing.

“You look sexy, mama!!” Sin said as her dress was being zipped up by Helena.

“She is right, Allie, you look beautiful in that dress,” Bridget said. I smiled. Once the dress was on, I turned and looked in the mirror. Even though I hated dresses, this didn’t look too bad.

“I don’t want to destroy the dress when I shift though,” I said

“Oh, you won’t darling. All three of you will change into robes, and we will have backups,” we all nodded our heads.

“It’s time you guys,” Amber said. Sin and Leah went down first. Everyone helped me get down the stairs, so I didn’t trip on the dress or get the train caught on anything. Dorian was at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me.

He was wearing a navy blue button-down with the first two buttons open, black slacks, dress shoes, and his signature man-bun. He took one look at me and had the biggest smile across his face. I smiled back. My man looked so f*****g gorgeous when he was dressed up.

“Damn,” he said when he took my hand at the final step. “You look, beautiful baby,”

“Thank you. You look pretty damn beautiful yourself,” I said to him fixing the collar of his shirt.

“You ready?” he asked me, and I nodded. He walked me through the house and into the backyard where the entire pack was waiting. He helped me on stage where Elder Maxwell was waiting. I stood in the middle, while Sin and Leah were to either side. I grabbed onto both of their hands the nerves started to get to me.

“Desert Moon! Tonight, we gather on the night of this full, to commemorate our Luna! She is joined by our new Beta and Gamma females. Our Luna has shown tremendous courage, strength, perseverance, leadership, kindness, dedication, and passion. She upholds our laws to the best of her abilities. She is fair, just, and merciful and had does everything for the sake of our pack!” Everyone started to cheer, and I could feel the tears streaming down my face. I looked over at Sin and Leah, and they are crying too and they both squeeze my hands. “Tonight! Our Luna, Beta, and Gamma will shift into their wolves for the first time. They have been chosen by the moon goddess. They are the blessed Desert Wolves!” more cheers erupted from the crowd.

“Luna, Beta, and Gamma, please step forward,” Another elder instructed. She pulled out the same gold dagger from before and put small cuts on all of our right palms. “Do you, Allison Park, Luna of the Desert Moon, swear and vow to lead us, love us, and protect us. Do you swear and vow to you use your powers for good?”

“I vow to do so,”

“Beta Leah Vo and Gamma Cynthia Perez, do you both swear and vow to assist the Luna to lead us, love us, and protect us. Do you swear and vow to use your powers for good?”

“We vow to do so,” then, they both put their hands in my mine. As soon as our b***d mixed, we all gasped, and I felt a surge of power flow through us. My vision began to cloud over and then my vision glowed gold.

“Their eyes!”

“Look at their eyes!” people were shouting. I looked at Sin, her eyes were crystal blue, and then I looked at Leah, her eyes were red.

“Allie, your eyes are a bright golden yellow, but your irises are red and blue!” Sin said. When the girls removed their hands from mine, I saw their eyes go back to normal, and then saw my vision returning to normal as well.

“Desert Moon! I proudly announce, the Blessed Desert Trio!!” said Elder Maxwell, and then the crowd became so loud we didn’t know what to do. They were so loud I couldn’t hear my own thoughts. I looked at the girls and just smiled.

Mercury!

Almost there. When it’s time, just let go and let me do the work okay?

Okay.

I was so distracted by everything, that I hadn’t realized Dorian came up on stage. I was giving all of my attention to Sin and Leah when their eyes grew wide and their jaws dropped to the floor and the crowd went silent.

“What?” I asked

“Girl,” Sin said

“What?!” I asked again

“Allie, turn around!” Leah said. I dropped their hands and turned around. I didn’t immediately see anything until I looked down and saw Dorian, on one knee, and with a ring in his hands. Immediately tears started to flood my eyes.

“Wha…wha…” I couldn’t form any words. I was completely caught off guard.

“Allison Park, ever since the day I met you, I knew I wanted you to be my wife and my lifelong partner. You are beautiful, kindhearted, loving, compassionate, and everything else amazing in between. I have loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You are the greatest gift of my life. You are the air that I breathe. You are the last thing I want to see when I sleep, and the first thing I want to see when I wake up,” I am trying so hard not to ugly cry because my makeup took an hour and my lashes were going to fall off. “My life had no meaning until I met you, and now that I have you, I never want to let you go. I love you with every fiber of my being. In everyone else’s eyes, you are beautiful, but in my eyes, you are perfect,” I am about to lose it. Damn this man. “Allie, make the happiest man and werewolf in the world, will you marry me?” I am officially ugly crying and can’t see s**t. I let out a small laugh.

“YES!” I finally muster out. I feel him put the ring on my finger. He stands up and pulls me into a deep, romantic, and loving k**s. I hear the crowd cheer, but at that moment, it was just me and him. I look into his eyes and he looks into mine. Moon Goddess, thank you.

You’re welcome. I gasp. Then suddenly a strong gust of wind blows and everyone is lost.

“What is that?” I asked

“I don’t know!” Dorian said and held me close. When the wind died, a small flash of light blinded us, and there stood a woman with long white hair and wearing a crystal blue dress. She was glowing.

“Who are you?” Dorian asked. She just smiled and looked at us.

“My stars, the Moon Goddess!” Elder Maxwell exclaimed. The crowd gasped.

“Hello, my children,” she says with a big happy smile. I gulp audibly.

“You’re the moon goddess?” I asked.

“Yes, but everybody calls me Selene,” I just look up at Dorian who is just as confused as I am. “I am proud of you Allie,” she says to me.’

“For what?”

“For accepting your destiny, of course. For everything that you have been through in your entire life, you never once gave up. Yes, you had breaking moments, but you pushed through them. You became strong and loving. Most people that go through what you went through would have given up, but you never did. The moment you were born, I knew that you would become one of my many children and that I would bless you with Mercury,”

“I don’t understand, how…”

“Could I have known you would become a werewolf? Because it was written in your destiny. Don’t you see Allie, everything that had happened in your life happened for a reason, and that reason is so you could be here, standing on this platform, and becoming of the strongest Luna’s that will ever exist,”

“Everything had to happen for a reason, so my parents dying, my being raped, beaten and violated, all that had to happen?”

“Yes, believe it or not, you have died three times,” I gasped and looked at her in shock. “The day of the accident, the night that Devin beat you and the day that Jessica beat you. I spared your life because I knew what you were capable of, I had seen it,” Hearing that I had died three times, but was saved was too much to handle. I leaned into Dorian and just sobbed.

“Thank you,” I say to her.

“Allie, I know that you think what happened to your parents is unfair, and normally, I would not be able to do anything about that, but for you, I can…” I looked at her and she reached her hand behind her and slowly a figure started to appear. Little by little, a woman appeared in front of me. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had eyes that had to be playing tricks on me.

“Oh my god!” I heard Sin exclaim. “That’s Allie’s mom!”

“Allison,” she calls my name and reaches out to me. I slowly push away from Dorian and reach out my hand. Could I really be able to touch her? After 20 years? I can’t control my tears as they started to come down like a waterfall. The next thing I knew, my fingers interlock with hers and I lose control.

“Umma!!” (Mom!!”) I fall to my knees and she hugs me. “Umma! Umma!” I am crying beyond control. My mother was in front of me, and I could physically touch her. She looked just the picture that I have with her and my dad.

“Ooljeemah Allie yah,” (Don’t cry Allie)

“Umma, uhddukhae?! Uhddukhae nae aphae eeseulsoogah eesuh?!” (Mom, how! How can you be in front of me!?) I can’t believe it. I was still in denial.

“Selene, how?” I heard Dorian ask.

“Someone owed me a favor,” I heard her respond.

“Umma,” I touch her face and sob hysterically.

“Oori ddal, nuhmoo yeapbbeugae jaratgoonah,” (My daughter, you have grown up to be so beautiful) she says as she wipes away my tears.

Oori saekgi, nuhmoo jarang seurupda,” (My baby, I am so proud of you)

Nuhmoo miahn hada knee gyutae mohteesuhsuh,” (I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be by your side)

“Nuhmoo bogo sheepuhsuh,” (I have missed you so much) I say to her while trying to control my breathing. “Jom duh eeljeek ohjee. Nah umma ulmana peeryo haetneundae!” (You should have come sooner. I needed you so much!)

“Nae maeumdaeroh ahn dwaeneungoh yohsuh,” (It wasn’t up to me).

“Umma,” I keep calling to her as if I were inside some kind of dream.

“Allie, stop crying, and get up baby,” she said to me and helped me to my feet. She cups my face and I hold onto her wrists.

“Umma, gahjeemah,” (Mom, don’t go)

“Oh, I don’t want to go baby, but I have to,”

“Please, mommy, don’t go,” I beg her to stay.

“Nuhl hangsang jeekyo bogoeetdah. Jal sarlgoo, bae sohgae knee aegee jal keewuh,” (I’m always watching over you. Live well, and take care of the baby in your belly)

“Bae sohgae aegee?” (The baby in my belly?)

“Saranghae, nae saekgi,” (I love you, my baby) She leaned in and kissed my forehead. I closed my eyes and felt her presence dissipate. I start bawling and keep my eyes closed, knowing that when I opened them, she would no longer be in front of me. After a moment, I open my eyes and replace that both my mom and Selene are gone.

“Thank you, Selene” I whisper.

“Allie,” I feel Dorian embrace me. He holds me tight, holding the back of my head until I calm down. It takes several minutes, but I finally control my breathing, and the tears stop flowing. “Allie?” I look up at Dorian who also has tears in his eyes.

“I’m okay. I got closure,” Dorian leaned in and kissed me. I turn and look to Sin and Leah who are also crying, Mikey and Brandon are crying, all of their parents are crying, even random pack members were crying. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.

“Alpha, do we need to postpone their shift?” Elder Maxwell

“Allie?” Dorian asked me

“No, we don’t need to postpone, but give me a moment please,”

Dr. Quinn?

Yes, Luna

Am I able to shift while pregnant?

Luna, do you suspect…

Yes, my mother said that I am

Yes, Luna, you can shift while pregnant as long as it early on. How far along do you suspect you are?

My heat was three and a half weeks ago, almost four.

You should be fine then Luna.

Thank you, Dr. Quinn. Please, keep this between us for now.

“I’m good, let’s do this,” Dorian smiles and lets me go. I walk over to Sin and Leah and take their hands again.

“You good?” Sin asked

“I’m great,” I respond. “Let’s do this,”

{Dorian’s P.O.V.}

I couldn’t believe that the moon goddess showed herself to our entire pack. I’ve heard of her appearing to select individuals, but never an entire pack. It was all because of Allie. Then she did the extraordinary, she brought Allie’s mom to her. Although it was only for a few minutes, Allie was able to see her mother. Something she has been wanting more than anything. She never got to know parents, and all she had was a photo of them.

In hopes that I could capture this memory for Allie, I took out my phone and snapped a picture. Luckily, the goddess allowed it. I had a solid picture of Allie and her mother together. Her mother kissing her forehead just before she left her again. I wanted to get this printed and framed for Allie.

Allie and the girls went inside to change into their robes before coming back out for their shift. While they were gone, we removed the stage so their wolves would plenty of room and the pack stepped back as far as they could. The moon was bright, and high in the sky. I saw the girls coming back out hand in hand.

I’ve been ready

The girls closed their eyes and immediately I started to hear bones cracking and their screams of pain pierced everyone’s ears. A wolf’s first shift was always the worst.

“Hold on, baby, you’re almost there!” I shouted encouragement to Allie.

“Honey, you got this!” I heard Mikey

“Sweetheart, you can do it!” Brandon shouted.

We watched as little by little, our tiny mates shifted into their wolves. Once they were done, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The girls were small. Our tiny mates were also tiny wolves, but their coloring was so unique. Allie was charcoal grey with white spots all over her, and she had a full white patch over her right eye and her eyes bright golden yellow that glowed as bright as the sun, but her irises were red and crystal blue.

Leah was a golden wolf with a crystal blue tale. She also had a patch over her right eye, but it was only half a circle. Her eyes were red like flaming infernos of fire.

Sin was multicolored. She was a mix of Allie’s charcoal grey, Leah’s gold and blue, and red with burnt orange. Her fur contained the colors of the Desert Moon. She also a patch over her right eye, but it was a crescent moon. I realized then that Allie’s patch was the full moon, and Leah was the half-moon. Sin’s eyes were a bright crystal blue.

Their wolves contained aspects of the others. All three were astonishingly beautiful. I stepped forward and faced them. I looked into the eyes of my mate and smiled.

I took a knee looking at the ground, paused a moment and then looked her into the eyes again,

“LUNA!”
