CATHERINE

My stomach cramps increased abnormally and I had to double over because of the pain.

They were stabbing and I felt like puking my guts out. Ilay wasn't there yet, although he said he'd be right over and Ryan? I didn't want to see his face again for today.

I didn't really know how to help myself, which is why I stood up. Another sharp pain in my abdomen.

"Ahh damn..." I groaned. Sex with Ilay wasn't that hard... On the contrary, it was actually very gentle, except that he spanked my ass. I almost had to giggle at the thought.

Stitch, there was the pain again and I stopped laughing and grabbed my stomach again. I wonder if it was appendicitis? With the symptoms I had, it was quite possible.

I ran to the door and opened the knob. I looked around, but there was only a huge corridor that resembled a royal castle, and not a soul was there to help me.

Achira... I had to look for Achira. She must be the only person in this house who is still sane...

I walked through the corridors and the pain got worse and worse. "Achira?" I half shouted and had to curl up again.

"ACHIRA?" I shouted louder and suddenly heard footsteps echoing throughout the room.

"Oh Catherine? What's wrong?" She asked me and came towards me to support me.

"I-I don't know... I have such a bad stomach ache, I can hardly stand it." I gasped out and held my stomach. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and I was able to stand halfway on my feet.

She looked at me frightened: "Come here, there's a guest room, lie down, I'll get someone to help us." She said and opened a door in the corridor.

"Achira... Please leave Ilay and Ryan where they are... I don't want to see them." I whispered softly. She just nodded and didn't say anything.

She helped me onto the bed and immediately went to get help.

ACHIRA

I. Was. Angry.

Those two men were acting like two dogs.

She had a stomach ache, no wonder with the stress she'd been put under. I knew that stress wouldn't necessarily cause a premature birth, but it wasn't necessary to expose an unborn child to all that cortisone.

I found out she was pregnant through Ilay. As for Ilay, I felt really sorry for him, having waited, like a pile of misery, for years for her and now having to live with her having two mates and apparently not living up to either of them.

That's life sometimes...

I hadn't found my companion yet either. I had given up the search in the meantime and no longer saw any point in torturing myself with it.

'Erol, I need your help, please come to the guest room immediately,' I told our friend and helper.

'Which guest room should I come to? You must have a thousand of them,' said Erol. I hurried into the kitchen and didn't really know what I was looking for myself. Erol was our doctor and was always available when he was called. 'Come into the kitchen,' I finally said. Not seconds later, a black mist appeared and Erol appeared.

"You called me, what's your emergency?" he asked me.

I was already walking with him towards the guest room "Well, a pregnant woman who doesn't even know she's pregnant and is under massive stress and in pain. Now it would be good if you could check her properly and uncover the secret without the two idiots getting into more trouble..." I explained to Erol.

He looked at me in confusion, "Two idiots?"

"Yes, Ilay and Ryan... Ryan is her second mate and she's pregnant by him too..." I explained.

He stopped with his mouth open and looked at me "Ilay has a mate who has a second mate?" he asked me in amazement.

I nodded slightly "Yes, come on now, she's not well..." I demanded and continued walking. I couldn't believe that Erol got his doctorate in medicine. He was the klutz himself and could barely put one foot in front of the other.

Erol was rather a slim guy, not the tallest man in the house at one hundred and fifty-eight centimetres and had brown hair that fell in front of his eyes. He wore black framed glasses and made his blue eyes look even bigger through the thick lenses.

"O-Okay, Achira you need to get me an ultrasound machine." He finally said and we walked into the room.

"Catherine, this is Erol our doctor, he's going to check you for your abdominal pain. I have to get something, then I'll be right back..." I said to her and ran out again.

There was a room here that was equipped with medical extras. I opened the storage unit, which was now completely dusty, and looked for an ultrasound machine. I wondered if it was still fit for purpose. Ilay had had it set up many years ago, but it had never been used and that's what the room looked like.

I had to cough for a moment and wondered why no one had ever dusted, let alone cleaned, the place.

After a few minutes, I finally found the appliance. It was mobile, with small wheels, so I could simply push it out. That was still an advantage. I walked out with it and went back into the guest room, where Catherine and Erol were waiting for me.

"An ultrasound?" Catherine asked, confused. Erol nodded eagerly: "Yes, so that we can rule out inflammation of the organs as quickly as possible." He continued. Clever boy that he was, he didn't mention a possible pregnancy. That was one of many reasons why I liked Erol so much. He quickly understood what he was told and even thought ahead. Yes, that had to be the reason for his well-deserved title.

"May I?" He asked, wanting to lift Catherine's sweater but waiting for her permission. Catherine nodded and let Erol do his work. He took the gel for the ultrasound probe and generously smeared it on Catherine's stomach, who kept wincing in pain.

"Let's have a look then..." said Erol and ran the device over her stomach.

I looked at him and noticed how he kept wiping the smile off his face to make a serious face.

"So, the gallbladder looks good, the pancreas too..." he mumbled to himself "There's the liver, also in good condition and further down here we have your small and large intestine.... Attention, I have to look further down here, for the appendix." He said and moved the ultrasound probe down to scan her lower abdomen.

"Well, the appendix actually looks fine..." he said and continued to scan.

Suddenly he smiled broadly and looked at Catherine. "You're doing wonderfully, Catherine, there's just a little person hiding inside you that's bothering you..." Erol said with a smile. Catherine's eyes widened and she suddenly turned pale. "T-That can't be true..." she whispered quietly and looked uncertainly at the screen.

"So let's get this straight, we're talking about a 3-4 week embryo, which is about the size of a grain... In about one to two weeks, we'll be able to detect a pulse." Erol said.

My heart really warmed and I was so happy for Catherine, but Catherine looked more scared than happy.

She shook her head "I-I can't do this.... I really can't." She said, taking Erol's hand away and wiping her gel with a towel that was lying next to it.

I looked at her with irritation. She had her companions, was in baby bliss and now she said she couldn't? I didn't quite understand Catherine, because this was a dream of many, I wanted children so much and couldn't have any yet because I was waiting for my mate.

"In order for it to be checked properly, you would actually have to have a vaginal ultrasound, but we don't have that kind of setting here. I would suggest you go with Achira to a gynecologist and have a more specific examination." Erol said, biting his lower lip.

Catherine nodded eagerly: "You'll get something antispasmodic for the pain, it's normal and stress-related, some women suffer more from it, some less." He said, shrugging his shoulders.

"W-what if I don't want this child?" Catherine whispered softly. I looked at her open-mouthed and froze.

"What are you talking about, Catherine... Why wouldn't you want a child?" I sat down with her and Erol looked at us seriously too.

She shrugged her shoulders and tears fell down her face.

"I don't think any of this is actually going to work... I can't turn down Ryan or Ilay and as you could see, they were about to rip each other's heads off..." Catherine tried to explain.

I nodded understandingly "Yes, it's a big mess, but it's nothing that can't be sorted out... You need to concentrate on your child now, the two idiots will get their act together somehow." I tried to encourage her and put my hand on her shoulder.

"You need to look after yourself, those two are old enough to look after themselves." I smiled slightly at her and nodded. "Come on, let's go to the kitchen and eat something, you hadn't really had anything to eat today." I said to her and stood up.

Erol nodded in agreement: "Yes, that's necessary. Plenty of rest, enough to eat and drink," he finally said and took care of the tangled cables.

I accompanied Catherine into the kitchen and went to the fridge. I took various vegetables and prepared a vegetable pan with beef. Catherine sat on the chair and looked out of the window, lost.

"Where are we anyway?" she finally asked, looking at me.

"This is the realm of demons, our home," I finally said, smiling gently at her.

She bit her lower lip. Her home was probably everything but this.

After I had finished cooking everything, I ladled it out for both of us and placed the plates on the table. I gave her the matching cutlery and had also prepared a salad.

"What would you like to drink?" I asked her and went over to the fridge. She shrugged her shoulders "Water is fine" she finally said.

I came back with a jug of chilled water and poured her a drink. "You really don't need to be sad... On the contrary, you should be looking forward to such a little gnome. Wait until it arrives for the first time, you'll completely forget about those two idiots," I said and had to grin.

She nodded slightly "I know, but I'm worried about whether I can cope with all this..." she said, shrugging her shoulders and poking at her food.

"We'll help you, you're not alone." I told her and finally started to eat.

'Achira, let's get out of here...' Came from Ilay.

'Nope, we want to eat in peace for now, you can stay in there until then,' I replied.

'Achira... Go on, I want to see how Catherine is doing,' Ilay demanded, apparently annoyed with me.

'I said no, Ilay, we're going to eat and then you can come out of there. Catherine is fine so far, Erol was there and gave her a quick check-up. He did an ultrasound on her and discovered her amniotic cavity and told her she was pregnant. You can thank me for that later, you idiots' I cut my connection to Ilay and continued eating with relish.

'You need to eat something, Catherine...' I said to her.

She finally nodded and had a droopy attitude.

I could understand that she was tired from all the drama, but now it could only go well.

A smile formed on my face at the thought of becoming an aunt. I didn't care who gave her the baby. My anticipation was great.
