Dimi slapped the annoying bug away from her peaceful dreaming sleep and grunted when it laughed mockingly at her. She opened one eye to replace Miklos up on one elbow in their bed, trailing his finger over her jaw and around the whirl of her ear.

“Stop it. You’re so annoying in the morning.”

“And you are beautiful when you wake up looking like I ravaged you hard all night.”

“You did,” she complained and pulled a pillow over her face. “In Puerto Vallarta I was annoyed you disappeared every morning before I woke up but now, I appreciate the joy in waking up alone, at my own speed and without you picking at me.” She slapped at the hands sliding under her sheets to tickle her ribs. “Ugh, what time is it?”

“It’s nine. We’ve been docked for two hours, and our parents have been waiting patiently above deck for you for nearly an hour. Your father wanted to come down here and collect you himself and I took great delight in telling him the marriage has been consummated and seeing you naked in our marital bed might not be something he truly wants to witness. I don’t think he truly understood what he was demanding of me until presented with the very real notion I f****d his daughter.” He was grinning like the devil himself.

She slapped at him in earnest now. “Miklos why are they here and why would you say such things to them?” she sat up clutching the sheet to her chest.

“They are here because your parents missed you. I believe your mother truly believed she would never see you again and has been on her knees in church for days straight.”

“She’s a drama queen.”

“You’re saying you got it from your mama?” he queried with a quirky grin.

“Can’t we just turn the ship back? I truly was not intending to deal with them before breakfast. My father is going to be a pain in my a*s.”

He stroked her cheek, “you knew running would upset him. Even if I came home empty handed and was met with his punishment, he would still have kept searching for you, Dimitra. He would have been far more ruthless than I. You might be my wife, but you are his and your mother’s only child. You are the reason they built the lives they have. Not having you around is not an option for them. As twisted as their love is, they do love you. If I were fed to the fish in the ocean he still would not have stopped searching. We both know this.”

“Fine but, it doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

He kissed the tip of her nose, “now get up before I make you scream like you did last night with your parents right above our heads.”

She rolled off the bed shrieking at him when he pulled the blankets off and whistled at her naked form. “Would you quit it? I can’t think when you ogle me.”

“I’m afraid I have no control over my eyes where you are concerned. My eyes and d**k are pointed in whatever direction you walk.” His eyes roved her body hungrily.

She tossed an infuriated glance over her shoulder at his wicked grin as she kicked the bathroom door partially closed behind her. “Why didn’t you wake me when we first docked? I could have been more prepared.”

“Because as we agreed moments ago, I ravaged you hard on our last night alone on the ship. You were exhausted and needing rest. Now we are home, there will be little time for sleeping in and floating on the ocean. It’s back to work. I should warn you though, according to Ajax, the men have all asked for stress pay and therapy for the way you screamed last night.” His voice carried through the rooms

She paused as she reached for the shower taps, “they have not.”

“Oh, they most assuredly had. Two of them have specifically requested never to work as your personal escort anywhere ever again. It seems the phrase ‘Miklos I’m coming’ is now permanently etched on their brain.”

She yanked the door open and glared at him, “you had best be joking.”

He held his hands open at his chest where he lounged on the bed, his feet crossed at the ankles. “You can ask them yourself but I’m fairly certain they’re never speaking in your presence again.”

“I hate you.” She slammed the door furiously and turned the shower on.

The door pushed open behind her, and he leaned in the open space, “they will also attest to the fact you do not hate but rather love me and my glorious c**k. Was it glorious or stupendous? Not sure which word you used but you screamed it at the top of your lungs.”

“Now I know you’re screwing with me because those words never once left my mouth.” She stepped into the shower shaking her head, “glorious c**k.” She gave a giggle at his words and then returned his smirk, “glorious is far too much of a stretch. Moderately pleasing perhaps.”

He stopped grinning, “excuse me?”

“It’s okay as far as p*****s go but I wouldn’t call it glorious or stupendous. Perhaps the better word is likeable.”

“Likeable?”

“Yes or,” she reached for her body wash, “if I truly must label it for all the boys on board to hear, I could use the descriptor ‘average’ or ‘not hideous.’ If the truth be told, your h**s do most of the work.”

“What?” he was blinking furiously at her now as she spoke candidly while watching him watch the soap trailing over her naked torso.

His eyes followed the bubbles sluicing over her golden skin. She felt the rush of power having such control over him. He was at her mercy and she knew it just by letting her own gaze drop to the tight fly of his trousers.

“No, maybe I’m wrong. I think the best word to describe it would be acceptable.” She gave a flourish of her hand, “it is acceptable.”

Dimi slapped the annoying bug away from her peaceful dreaming sleep and grunted when it laughed mockingly at her. She opened one eye to replace Miklos up on one elbow in their bed, trailing his finger over her jaw and around the whirl of her ear.

“You are lucky your parents are upstairs, or I think I’d throw you back into the bed and show you how average and acceptable I am.”

“My love, I’m not talking about you.” At his frown she grinned even wider, “I’m simply saying you will never hear me screaming from the rafters your c**k is glorious.”

“You’re getting an a*s paddling.”

“Tease,” she mocked him as he stormed out of the bathroom and disappeared from their room.

Twenty minutes later she walked into the living area of the yacht still snickering to herself over Miklos telling her the boys heard her say his c**k was glorious. As if. She hadn’t taken three steps into the room when her mother near bowled her over rushing at her, rocking her back and forth in her arms and crying.

“Mama, I can’t breathe,” she croaked as she felt her ribs crushing under the tight grip of her mother’s arms.

“I didn’t think you would ever come back. I prayed day and night.” She was sobbing. “I prayed God would hear my prayers and bring you back to me in one piece. I was terrified you would be murdered.”

“Not murdered,” she wheezed, “but might be dying now. Really can’t breathe.” Her mother didn’t relinquish her grip in the slightest

She patted her mother’s back as she stared beseechingly at Miklos for help but evidently, he was still mad about the average comment. He kicked his feet up on the table and leaned back into the sofa and smirked with a shrug before putting his hands to his neck mocking her being choked. She flipped him off behind her mother’s back

“Mama, it’s fine. I’m here.” She patted her mother’s back reassuringly.

“You terrified me,” her mother cupped Dimi’s cheeks, tears streaming down her own. “Promise me you will not pull such a thing again. I love you so much. You are my only child. Do not run away again.”

“Leonora, unhand our daughter.” Vasili tried to step closer but the noise her mother made was very much a growl. He backed up with his hands in the air. “I will wait my turn.”

Her mother hugged her tight for several minutes while the other four people in the room watched with amusement. When finally, her mother’s sobbing stopped she leaned away from her daughter. Dimi thought finally she would be released and was stunned when her mother hauled back and delivered a hard slap to her cheek.

Dimi blinked in stunned surprise as she covered her stinging flesh with her hand aware everyone else in the room had jumped up and moved toward her mother in defence of Dimitra, but the woman held her hand out to them all. “Stay back all of you. This is between a mother and daughter, and you will not interfere.”

She shook her finger at Dimitra, “you disrespected me, Dimitra. Too many times to count and most of all on the phone this week, mocking my life choices. You will not do it again. I am your mother and I do not care how old you are, you will give me the respect I deserve. Am I clear?”

She swallowed at the anger in his mother’s eyes, “yes mama.” She met Miklos’ surprised and stunned expression with one she was certain mirrored her own. Her mother had never laid a hand on her in her entire life. She couldn’t remember a time her mother had truly even raised her voice at her. At Vasili, sure but never her. Dimi considered perhaps she had pushed the woman too far this time. She fought a nervous giggle as she rubbed her face.

“My love,” her father spoke gently putting his hands to his wife’s shoulders and pulling her back gently, “may I hug our daughter now?”

“You should take her home to the garage and remind her of her place,” Leonora was evidently still pissed off.

Vasili shot an amused glance at Leonora’s countenance. “I feel there is no need for such drastic measures. She is home now.”

“She should not have left,” Leonora grunted as she paced by a window.

“We did not raise our little girl to be complacent. She had a goal she needed to accomplish, and she met it.” He pulled Dimi into his tight grasp and hugged her, lifting her clear off the floor against his thick chest. He kissed her temple and cheek multiple times, pausing to tenderly rub the mark his wife had left, his blue eyes sparkling with surprise as he grinned at his daughter. “You are perhaps the most ruthless Lykiaos yet. I am proud of you for sticking to your convictions although I admit not liking being on the receiving end. I prefer you torment Miklos over me.”

She giggled against his shoulder as she hugged him back. He might be the world’s biggest cad and possibly the single-worst husband on the planet, but he was still her daddy. She was often torn with hate and love for the man. In this moment he was her Pops and she reveled in his affection.

“I love you my little Dimitra. I am glad you are home to stay. I have missed spending time with you. Perhaps we can restart our chess games?”

She nodded as he kept his tight grip on her, his words warm in her ear. “I would like this.”

“Good.” He set her back on her feet and cupped her cheek pressing a k**s to her forehead. “Miklos says your marriage is a real one.”

She noted he seemed rigid and tense in his comment. Perhaps Miklos had been correct the man had not thought of his little girl being a woman after all. Even his cheeks had color. “It is. Miklos would not have brought me back otherwise. He loved me enough to let me go.” She smiled at her husband who smiled back warmly.

“Why birth control? You know your mother feels strongly birth control should never be used.” He got right to the point with a hard gaze.

“My mother is not the one who suffers with violent menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding,” she put her father uncomfortably in his place. “Until I am ready to begin suffering with it for seven to ten of twenty-eight days each month then I will keep it in place. I want time with my husband. We are learning about each other still and I would prefer to have a close and connected relationship with him before I have a child. I could lie to you and tell you we simply fail each month, but I will not. What we decide for our family is our decision and not yours, Pops. You do not get to dictate my body.”

He looked over his shoulder to Miklos, “you are f****d my son. She has my temper and her mother’s stubbornness. I worry you will never win a battle with her.”

“I relish a lifetime of trying,” Miklos said cockily sitting back on the sofa now Leonora was starting to relax, though admittedly hovering still as if Dimitra would plunge off the boat and swim to another country. He watched as his own parents were anxiously awaiting their turn to hug Dimitra with a grin.

Dimi saw his gaze and shook her head. How had she ever thought they did not love her? They showed it in very strange and weird ways but the love in this room was palpable. Her father clearly did not want to loosen his grip on her but as his friend stepped forward, she moved to greet him.

Giorgio, like her father, peppered warm k****s to her cheeks and hugged her so tightly she was off the floor, “your father can say all he wants about your stubbornness, but I raised the a*****e sitting over there. I know you have your work cut out for you. If anyone can keep him in check though, I am confident in you, Dimitra.” He kissed her forehead, “like your mother however, I do not ever want you to run away again. I was very worried for your safety. There are a lot of crazy people in the world who would do stupid things to get to our family or simply to get to your money. Do not let Miklos get his hands upon it either. You and I should have a sit down and discuss the investing of your new wealth. You shouldn’t just throw it in a savings account somewhere.”

She met his gaze proudly, “I didn’t. My degree is one in computer science and economics and data science. My background for work is mostly in the banking industry and when I worked in London, I worked for an investment banker.” She ignored Miklos grunt at the mention of Ben. He really had a hate on for the guy which had worsened since Jonas had sent him the videos.

“Have you considered going for your PhD?”

Miklos g*****d, “Dad, I just got her. Can you not send her away to school already?”

Dimi chuckled, “We can sit down and discuss what I’ve done with my money thus far and perhaps you can guide me to make changes.” She kissed Giorgio’s cheek warmly.

Nerida came close and wrapped her tight in a hug, “Miklos said you declined my suggestion for a weekend away.” She clicked her tongue, “now is the time to recoup payment for the hell he put you through. A year from now he will no longer feel remorse. He is vulnerable. Strike while the iron is hot.”

She gave a shake of her head. “Nerida, if Miklos and I are going to make our marriage work then we need to stop looking for reasons to punish each other and focus on ways to heal. We have agreed our past remains where it is, and we will not be discussing forms of repayment.”

“But –”

“Nerida,” she cut off the woman with a finger she held up, “not another word. Our marriage is ours. Nobody else gets a say, including you.”

“Fine but I think you’re missing an opportunity.” She huffed and flopped into an armchair frustratedly.

“Your opinion is noted,” she g*****d and moved to sit on the sofa beside Miklos and he tugged her under his arm and kissed her forehead, missing the sweet smiles of the two other couples in the room when she closed her eyes to his tender touch. “Why is everyone here? Why are we not simply meeting at Pops or at the compound?”

“There were things we needed to discuss which could not wait,” Vasili spoke as he took a seat in an armchair.

Dimitra rested her head on Miklos’ shoulder aware suddenly she was hungry. Being in the presence of her parents made her nerves on edge and she needed comfort. As if on cue, one of the crew appeared with a breakfast service and she gave an appreciative g***n at the smell of coffee. The man smiled at her and poured her cup first and held it out to her. She nudged Miklos and whispered, “can’t even look at me, you said?”

“I may have exaggerated somewhat,” he chuckled and nuzzled her neck playfully speaking lowly in her ear. “Though Ajax had come down to our room with one of the men around midnight and heard us. He said he knocked four times, and we didn’t hear a thing.” He nipped her earlobe ignoring the amused glances in the room.

She slapped his leg as her cup jostled in her hand, “don’t make me spill the coffee or I’m going to hurt you.”

When the crew person finished the coffee service, he left the room and closed the doors behind him. The tension in the room amplified with the movement and Miklos looked to his father-in-law, “well, what was so urgent you had a man waiting at the pier to report the minute the yacht docked.”
