Chapter 77: Framed

Chloe felt a laugh bubbling up.

She thought, “He’s this mad because of Lucy.”

“But…”

Chloe yanked her hand back, her demeanor turning icy.

“Get your priorities straight. I’m your wife, and you’re arguing with me over some outsider?

Chloe didn’t do anything wrong, so she’s not taking the fall for

anyone.

“It’s not what you think with Lucy and me.”

“Why yelling at me because of her?”

Chloe was furious. Three years of bottled–up frustration erupted all at once.

She endured it all and even convinced herself to let go, giving Michael and Lucy the freedom to love each other.

Chloe must have been blind back then. No other way she’d have liked Michael for so many years.

Realizing he was gripping too hard, Michael eased up a bit.

a mess..

“Call off your people. Don’t Lucy again.”

He calmed down a bit, so his tone softened.

Chloe had no clue what he was talking about. “Huh?”

“Don’t play dumb.”

Michael’s patience was wearing thin.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Ever since you barged in and grabbed my hand, I’ve been clueless. What does Lucy have to do with any of this?”

Chloe yanked her hand free and took a step back.

Her wrist turned red. She winced in pain, rubbing it gently.

Michael was puzzled. “Lucy just called me. She got a threatening text accusing her of being a mistress.”

Chloe scoffed, “What’s that got to do with me? Maybe someone just wants to play hero.”

“That guy claimed to be your friend and sent Lucy pics of us together.”

“Which friend of mine?”

Since getting married, Chloe hasn’t had many friends. The only one she still keeps in touch with is Candy.

Chapter 77: Framed

Candy doing something like that is totally expected.

But Chloe didn’t think Candy would do something like that out of the blue.

“Chloe, Lucy’s innocent. She got threatening texts and was framed. Tell your friend to apologize, and let’s move on.”

Michael thought his proposal was fair.

Chloe felt he never trusted her. Just because of one comment from Lucy, he believed Chloe was the one harassing Lucy.

“How’d you know it’s my friend? Why do you trust Lucy so much?”

Michael was getting really frustrated with Chloe’s stubborn

expression.

“Which friend? The one who took you to the bar! Her personal life is a mess, and she’s always giving you bad advice. Who else could it be?”

Chloe had no idea Michael hated Candy so much.

“Michael, enough! Lucy has no proof but still blames Candy. You fell for it like a fool. But don’t you dare drag me and my friends

into this.”

Chloe shot Candy a quick call.

Candy listened to Chloe’s story, puzzled.

Finally, Candy started cursing.

“Damn! If it were me, I’d just send her a pic and a verbal warning.”

If it were Candy, she’d end it in one move, leaving no chance for a comeback.

Candy outgrew pranks back in middle school.

Chloe hung up the phone and looked at Michael. “It wasn’t me. And it wasn’t Candy either.”
