"I've laid it all out, Diana. I've done right by you. Don't pin the world's unfairness on anyone else. Sure, I used you, and sure, I owe you, but that debt vanished the moment I handed you five percent of Sartori Corporation."

"You should know, I'm no saint, and loyalty isn't my strong suit. The fact that I've done this much for you is already a stroke of luck on your side."

"Don't push it, or you'll end up with nothing."

Connor turned on his heel, ready to leave.

Diana's fingertips were pressed so hard they turned white. Her nails bit into her palms, drawing blood. She'd already stooped so low. She'd bent over backward for him. Her love for him was so intense, she'd lost herself. All she wanted was a tiny place in his life. Why couldn't he just give her that? Even a little white lie would have sufficed.

She was seething with resentment. Connor, you promised you'd protect me forever. You were the one who came after me first. Now, you're kicking me to the curb like a stray dog after you're done. Fine. Even if I'm a dog, I'll be one that bites back.

"Uncle Connor, if you're going to be heartless and ruthless, then don't blame me."

With that, Diana suddenly tore the hem of her dress, ripping open the feathered collar on her shoulder. She screamed, "Help, someone, save me!"

As soon as her cries rang out, the security door behind Connor burst open. A flood of people surged in, cameras and camcorders in hand, snapping shots like crazy at Connor and Diana.

Diana clutched her dress, shielding her chest, sobbing as if her heart were being torn apart, "No, no, help me, help me..."

A swarm of reporters encircled Diana.

"Diana, what happened?"

"Diana, what were you and Mr. Connor doing alone up here?"

"Diana, what happened to your dress?"

"Diana, did Mr. Connor try to hurt you?"

Some reporters were clearly prepped, ready to pounce. Their questions were sharp and relentless. Diana cried until she was utterly spent, as if she'd just faced a nightmare.

"Diana, don't worry. Whatever happened, the media will make sure justice is served."

Connor, meanwhile, found himself surrounded by reporters too. They all wore that self-righteous look.

"Mr. Connor, why were you and Diana alone on the rooftop?"

"Mr. Connor, what did you do to Diana?"

"Mr. Connor, how do you plan to explain this to your wife?"

Connor's gaze turned cold, like a

More people poured onto the rooftop, and soon it was packed tight. Shock turned to whispers and pointing. Even Claire showed up, though she didn't get close. She stood back, watching like it was just another show. All eyes and cameras focused back on Diana.

"Diana, please, tell us what happened?"

Some reporters, eager for a scoop, even jumped to conclusions.

"Did Mr. Connor attack you?"
