Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover -
Chapter 704
Diego kicked things off, and soon everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Edward, wiping sweat from his brow, nervously stammered, "I, uh, I'm voting for Mr. Connor too."
One by one, others chimed in, "Yeah, I messed up too. My vote's for Mr. Connor."
In a flash, the dynamics flipped completely. Everyone shifted their loyalty to Connor.
"Mr. Connor is young and gifted, and I believe Sartori Corporation will only flourish under his leadership."
"Connor's startup has been soaring on the stock market these days, a real powerhouse. I'm confident he'll steer Sartori into a bright new future."
"The company needs fresh blood, and young minds are best suited for its future."
The flattery was endless and varied.
Diana watched the scene unfold, completely bewildered. She had no idea what was going on. Weren't these old-timers die-hard supporters of Claire? How did a piece of cake turn them around so quickly? Were the cakes enchanted or something? Diana was at a loss. She glanced over at Claire. Claire's expression had darkened. Her eyes, icy and piercing, landed on the shareholders who had suddenly turned coat. They cowered, almost turning away, unable to meet Claire's gaze.
Claire noticed the varied numbers at
the bottom of the bowl. She didn't know what they signified, but she was sure Connor had found their weak spots. That's why they switched sides at the last minute.

Connor was not to be underestimated. Even when
everything seemed set in stone, he managed to pull the rug out from under her.
But Claire realized she had lost this round. No matter what she'd promised these folks, it was all for nothing now. She didn't throw a fit. Instead, she gave Connor a cold smirk, "You've got some sneaky
moves, Connor."
Connor just gave a light smile, "I've been learning from the best since I was a kid. Thanks to my big sister's mentorship."
Claire's face changed at that. Deep down, he was just as sly and shameless. A devil in disguise.
But Claire clung to a flicker of hope. She turned to Jeffery, "Dad, shouldn't we look into this a bit more?"
Jeffery's face was stone cold. "I said today's vote was to settle Ms. Claire's position. No matter how it played out, I only care about the result."
His steely gaze swept the room, "Are you all sure about your decision?"
Nods all around, "We're sure, we back Mr. Connor."
Jeffery stood up and declared, "Then the role of Ms. Claire at Sartori Corporation, along with my 10% stake, goes to Connor. Bring in the lawyer."
Claire knew it was final,
unchangeable. Jeffery had always been distant. She'd foolishly hoped he might feel he owed her for past wrongs. But in truth, he'd hardly ever shown her attention. His focus was always on market share, Sartor's stock, and his record in corporate takeovers. And those chess puzzles he never cracked. Yet now, his obsession with chess seemed to have faded. His demeanor towards his children was equally frosty. If there was a hint of human feeling in him, it was his firm decision to keep Connor in the fold.
