Jacob hobbled over, leaning heavily on his cane. He grabbed Chloe's arm with a firm grip.

"Chloe, how did you become so heartless? Do you really have to take things this far? Now the whole world knows my daughter, my own flesh and blood, is a murderer. Have you thought about what this means for your mother and me, or the impact on our company?" "We might have made mistakes in the past that hurt you, but did you really have to hit back this hard? We raised you, gave you everything you ever needed, and you repay us like this? No matter what Leah did, pushing her to such an end was too much. And now, the Meadows family is almost bankrupt. Does that make you happy? If we end up on the streets, will you feel satisfied? Leah did say one thing right, Chloe, you're completely ungrateful."

Jacob was shaking with anger. He'd been in the hospital twice recently because of the stress, and now, he had to rely on a cane to get around. Deep down, he knew Lisa was a disappointment, wishing he'd never had her as a daughter. But Chloe's unyielding stance was what really infuriated him.

Due to all the scandals, and with Belle Époque already on its last legs, the company was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, and not just bankruptcy-deep debt. If Chloe hadn't interfered, he could've sold his shares to Claire. Then, he'd have had a comfy three billion to retire on.

Hearing Jacob's words felt like a knife twisting in Chloe's heart. She'd known she'd face this backlash the moment she exposed Lisa's crimes. Even though she'd prepared herself, the pain was still like her heart being torn apart.

Connor stepped in, putting a reassuring arm around Chloe's shoulders. His face was firm, showing no mercy.

"Mr. Jacob, this isn't the Meadows household. If you don't want to be shown the door, mind your manners."

"Lisa was found guilty of

premeditated murder, yet you talk as if my wife set her up. Everything was her own doing. Her current situation is due to Mrs. Meadows' endless indulgence, Leah's lack of proper upbringing, and, Mr. Jacob Some seriously poor genetics, none of which are Chloe's fault."

Connor made sure to emphasize "poor genetics" slowly and clearly. Jacob's face turned an alarming shade of purple. He pointed his cane at Commor, his arm shaking, "You... don't let your position make you disrespectful."

Connor remained stone-faced: "I don't care who you are, but in this world, no one has the right to blame Chloe. As parents, have you ever stopped to see things from Chloe's point of view? If Linda hadn't taken that bullet at Linda and Lucas' Wedding, Chloe would be dead."

"You both know how Lisa has tormented Chloe over the years with harassment, drugging, framing, and finally, murder. Doesn't she deserve what she's got coming?"

Connor's voice was ice-cold: "Lisa will definitely get the death penalty. Not even Jesus could save her now."

Leah and Ann were speechless, completely taken aback by Connor's presence. They both knew that Lisa deserved her fate. They also realized that their visit today wasn't going to change a thing.
