Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover -
Chapter 729
Winston finally snapped back to reality, and for a moment, he couldn't quite pin down if he was more excited or just plain shocked. The thought of Cassie suggesting they start dating had never even crossed his mind. Once it finally sank in, a massive wave of joy washed over him. It felt almost surreal, like he was dreaming.
He locked eyes with Cassie, his gaze burning with intensity. Cassie, small as she was, seemed even tinier in front of him. Usually, she was fearless, the kind who wouldn't back down from a fight even against the toughest guys. But right now, she seemed a bit shy, avoiding Winston's fiery stare.
Cassie raised her fist, like she was going for a fist-bump. "Alright then, let's do this for real," she said.
Winston, almost without thinking, extended his hand, made a fist, and bumped it against hers. After that, Cassie took a deep breath, looking like she had a million things to do. "Okay, you get back to your stuff. I'll call you tonight," she said before briskly leaving the room. Winston stood there for a while, still a bit dazed. He looked at his clenched fist, feeling both amused and overjoyed. Did Cassie really get what dating meant? He hoped she didn't just think it was hanging out like friends. But honestly, none of that mattered to him right now. He was over the moon, beyond happy-caught up in a joy that words couldn't quite capture.
Lately, he'd felt trapped, like he was sinking deeper and deeper into a swamp and struggling only made it worse. But now, it was like he'd broken through and bloomed, finally seeing the light again.
Meanwhile, Chloe had left the clubhouse and went looking for Connor. Connor was getting ready to leave Riverbrook, and there were a lot of things to wrap up. Thankfully, the holiday resort's construction was on track, with half of it already done despite the two-year timeline.
Connor returned from a meeting around 4 PM to replace Chloe on the phone in his office. When she saw him, she hung up and walked over from the balcony.
"Who was that?" Connor asked, casually.
"A friend," Chloe replied.
Connor's face stayed neutral, but his eyebrows shot up a bit. "What did he want?"
"I'm planning to join QUEEN when we get to Eldridge City," Chloe said.
Connor paused for a couple of seconds before asking, "As a designer?"
Chloe nodded. "QUEEN's market is booming. It's no longer just a
high-end niche brand. There'sl
эле
work, and my friend wants me to help out."
Connor didn't say anything because he knew that no matter what he
might say, it wouldn't change anything. Chloe was determined, and once she set her mind on something, she wouldn't be easily swayed. Plus, Connor knew this was the right move for her. She was the dazzling MISSY, with talent and skill that shone brightly. QUEEN was the perfect stage for her, and of course, he'd back her up.
Still, the idea of her working closely with that ambitious, sharp-edged guy made Connor feel like he'd bitten into a lemon. Without another word, he grabbed his coat from the couch. "Let's go," he said.
Chloe looked surprised. "Where to?"
"I'm taking you somewhere," Connor replied.
Chloe hadn't expected the destination to be Paradise Resort.
