Connor knew Chloe was just across the way. Her office lights were still glowing brightly. Even though they were only a hundred meters apart, it felt like two completely different worlds. Connor had to admit to himself, he missed her a lot.

He tossed aside a mountain of paperwork and headed straight downstairs to the QUEEN headquarters building. He didn't give Chloe a heads-up. He was just curious. Chloe had been too busy to reach out lately, and he wondered what was keeping her so occupied. Getting in was surprisingly easy. The security guard and receptionist at the entrance recognized him as the new Ms. Claire from Sartori Corporation. He made his way to the elevator without any hassle. He knew Chloe's office was on the top floor, so he hit the button for the top floor without hesitation.

Before long, Connor was at Chloe's office door. It was closed, with a clear glass sign that read: Design Director Chloe. Seeing her name, Connor couldn't help but grin. He wanted to catch Chloe by surprise, so he didn't bother knocking, just pushed the door open.

The moment he stepped inside, he froze. He had already taken a step in, but his hand lingered on the doorknob, tightening involuntarily, his fingertips turning pale. Chloe was there, but she wasn't alone.

Chloe was seated in her office chair, pencil in hand, seemingly engrossed in a design sketch. She was so absorbed that she hadn't noticed the door opening. The sound of her pencil scribbling was particularly crisp in the quiet office.

Next to her was Grant. He was leaning slightly forward, one hand resting on the back of Chloe's chair, completely focused on Chloe's work. His expression was serious and intense. They were so engrossed, their faces were almost touching.

Even though everything looked perfectly normal, strictly

professional, Connor felt a pang of jealousy. Maybe it was because their interaction seemed so natural. Maybe it was because, to an outsider, they looked like they

shared an open and innocentel

rapport. Even with their cheeks

nearly brushing, there wa

no hint of

anything inappropriate. Grant appeared too serious, too aloof, like

someone incapable of love. But

Connor knew all too well that

beneath that icy exterior lay a fire just waiting to ignite.

Perhaps it was the noise at the door that alerted them. Grant looked up, saw Connor, and straightened up. He lightly tapped his fingers on. desk. Chloe, puzzled, glanced up and saw Connor at the door. Her eyes lit up like fireworks.

"Connor, what brings you here?" Chloe exclaimed, standing up with obvious surprise.

Connor walked in, his voice steady, revealing nothing: "What are you working on?"

Chloe, hearing his question, seemed to remember something. She quickly gathered all the papers on her desk and stashed them in a drawer, putting on an air of mystery. "I can't tell you just yet," she teased.
