Chapter 4
I devoted ten years of my life to that man, but in the end, all I got in return was “I will never forgive you“.
The sorrow was like a flood, overwhelming me instantly.
Looking at the mess in the house, I hardened my heart and called a repairman, who used a sledgehammer and smashed the house beyond recognition.
Then, I returned to my grandfather’s house. Three days later, I received a call from the cemetery
manager.
I was told that someone was interested in my grandfather’s graveyard and paid a high price to make them relocate my grandfather.
These words were like a bolt from the blue, breaking my heart.
My grandfather was a teacher before retirement. He had always been kind to people and loved me dearly.
After I donated my liver to save Timothy, he had always been worried about my health. He said he would pray to God and exchange his remaining life for my peace and happiness.
Therefore, before he died, my grandfather told me not to set up a tombstone or engrave any words on it. He told me he was willing to die.
I rushed to the cemetery. As soon as I entered the gate, I saw Mia and Timothy.
They noticed me, too.
“You’re following me?”
Most people wouldn’t come to a cemetery for no reason. Seeing me panting, Timothy subconsciously thought that I was following him in order to win him back.
But I was too anxious and had no time to talk to him.
Mia stood in front of Timothy, like a hen protecting her baby chick, and warned me,
“Evie, Timothy is my husband now. Why don’t you stop coveting other people’s husbands?”
There was evident pride and provocation in her tone.
Timothy frowned. “Evie, I know it’s hard for you to accept the change. Can you wait a little longer?”
I was tired and really didn’t want to waste time with them.
“Just get over yourself, alright?
“You two are both shameless. So, you deserve each other! I wish you both die in the same month and year!”
I passed by Timothy without even looking at him and strode inside.
Seeing that I didn’t badger him, Timothy couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment.
Then, he caught up with me and softened his tone,
“You’re still mad?”
He made it sound like I was being unreasonable, and our wedding seemed insignificant to him. Feeling ignored, Timothy started to explain,
“The doctor said Mia’s condition isn’t promising. I was worried that she would hurt herself, so I left to replace her.
“I never thought of abandoning you. It’s just one year. I will marry you after Mia…”
I loved Timothy for ten years, but it only took me a few days to get over him. So, I didn’t really need
him.
“That’s unnecessary.”
Seeing that I was not moved, Timothy sighed and grabbed my arm.
“I admit that I was impulsive and not thoughtful enough this time. Your grandpa has always been very kind to me. He will surely understand me and forgive me.
“Evie, stop being mad at me and patiently wait for me to marry you, okay?”
Timothy finally lowered his attitude and came to coax me.
If it were in the past, I would definitely be pleased by his attitude.
But it was too late. Everything was too late.
I paused, stared into Timothy’s eyes, and spoke calmly,
“Timothy, I won’t marry you again!
“So, please stop bothering me!”
My calmness and detachment made Timothy feel like losing control of something.
He took out his phone and called his secretary.
“Help me replace two best sandalwood bracelets. Grandpa Joe likes them the most. I will bring them to him in person to apologize in a few days.”
