Eager Nanny, Reluctant Wife -
Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Before Josephine could answer, he continued, “It’s too late! Just once or twice won’t necessarily make you pregnant.”
Even if she happened to become pregnant, it was not a big deal at all.
The Levine family could afford to raise as many children as they could. In fact, they were more worried about having too few
children.
“No!”
Josephine was irate. “My period is here! I need you to buy me something that women need every month. I need sanitary pads!” she blurted.
However, she instantly felt remorseful when she saw Ragnar’s face turn gloomy. She added, “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect my period to be so inconsiderate. It never behaves and doesn’t come at a specific time.”
Josephine looked really innocent.
She looked at Ragnar imploringly and pleaded, “Help me out, please? Otherwise, I’ll have to spend the whole night sitting on the toilet in the bathroom.”
With his dark orbs, Ragnar glared fiercely at Josephine’s head that was peeking out.
He was so tempted to yank her out.
At last, he put on his clothes and left with a scowl.
He headed straight to the convenience store nearby that was open 24 hours a day and stood at the entrance. His striking brows furrowed, and he wondered, “Why do I have to buy that stuff for her? I’m a man. How am I supposed to go in and buy it? Besides, what’s wrong with me tonight? Why do I feel like I’m under a spell? I want her so badly…”
The image of their kiss lingered in Ragnar’s mind.
From Josephine’s initial reluctance to acceptance, surrender, and eventual response to him, all these memories started to preoccupy Ragnar’s thoughts..
“Humph!”
He sneered in a low voice, thinking, “She acts so convincingly on usual days, but she’s actually just like any other woman who wants my body!”
Ragnar’s gaze fell upon the convenience store before him, and he couldn’t help but scrunch up his face at the idea of going in to buy that thing for Josephine.
He snorted pridefully again, not wanting to go in. At that moment, he felt an impulse to leave her sitting on the toilet for an entire night.
Despite his thoughts, he still walked in.
The female store clerk’s eyes lit up when she saw Ragnar, and she greeted him warmly, asking, “Sir, what can I help you with?”
Ragnar remained silent.
He went to the rows of shelves to replace what he was looking for.
However, he didn’t know what a sanitary pad looked like since he wasn’t acquainted with it. Despite searching for quite some time, he was unable to locate them.
The clerk hurried over with the same warm smile and inquired, “Sir, what would you like to buy? I can replace it for you.”
Ragnar frowned.
“What a hassle!” he thought. With a dark expression, he forced out the words, “Sanitary pads.”
The clerk was momentarily stunned, and a tinge of disappointment crossed her eyes. “Of course such a handsome man is already taken,” she pondered. Nonetheless, that did not affect her admiration for someone good–looking as she eagerly said, “Come with me, sir.”
The clerk led Ragnar to a shelf. “You can replace them here.”

Ragnar gazed at the vast array of products on the shelves and was about to grab one randomly.
“Allow me to recommend something, sir,” the store clerk offered.
She picked a product from the shelf and started to present it to Ragnar. “This is a great brand that sells well, and it’s very comfortable to use. Your partner will be delighted if you buy this. Also, it’s advisable to go for the longer ones to provide extra protection since it’s nighttime now.”
Hearing her words, Ragnar took one pack.
The clerk inquired enthusiastically, “Sir, does your partner experience menstrual cramps? If she does, you might need to buy some ginger tea too.”
With that, a box of ginger tea was added to Ragnar’s shopping cart.
After paying for his items, Ragnar walked toward the convenience store’s door.
Suddenly, he turned around and looked at what was boiling in a big electric cooker. “What is this?”
“This? It’s fish stew. It’s a favorite among girls! Sir, you can get some for your partner,” the clerk suggested.
Ragnar listened to her and purchased some fish stew.
Five minutes later, he returned to the apartment carrying the items and gave the sanitary pads to Josephine, who was still waiting for him in the bathroom.
Thereafter, he went to the kitchen and boiled some water to make ginger tea for Josephine.
Upontidying herself up. Josephine emerged from the bathroom and noticed the fish stew and steaming ginger tea on the table.
“According to the convenience store clerk, you girls like fish stew. I was also told that ginger tea helps with menstrual cramps,” Ragnar explained to her.
It never occurred to Josephine that he would buy these things for her.
She sipped on the ginger tea.
The steaming hot and spicy ginger tea warmed her stomach instantly, making her feel all warm and cozy.
“Thank you, Ragnar,” Josephine expressed her gratitude.
Snorting, Ragnar looked at Josephine with his dark eyes and questioned, “How are you going to thank me?”
Josephine froze for a moment.
Then, she grinned and told Ragnar, “I will take extra good care of Danny and Manny!”
Ragnar hummed in acknowledgment before looking at Josephine and retorting, “That is your duty!”
Josephine was dumbfounded.
“I should just eat the fish stew,” she thought.
Josephine was already starving, having not eaten anything that night. She took the fish stew and ate it with a contented expression.
Seeing her carefree demeanor, Ragnar felt annoyed.
He approached Josephine, suddenly getting close and towering over her. “Tell me honestly. Did you do it on purpose?”
“No.” Josephine replied.
She could swear that she genuinely didn’t do it on purpose.
Gnashing his teeth, Ragnar muttered, “What a letdown!”
Josephine fell speechless.
She stopped talking and quietly savored the fish stew.
However, Ragnar’s persistent gaze was making her uneasy. “Do you want some?” Josephine handed over the fish stew to him as she spoke
Ragnar turned her down
Chapter 54
“I never eat these things. They’re unsanitary!” he said with a disgusted expression.
“Oh,” answered Josephine.
Josephine continued to eat, but Ragnar seemed to have no plan to tear his gaze away from her.
The stress Josephine felt from his gaze was building up.
To ease the awkwardness and discomfort, Josephine tried to start a conversation. “Are we still going back?”
Ragnar’s tone was unpleasant as he replied, “I’ve already informed Grandma we’re not going back, so why bother returning?”
“Oh,” answered Josephine again.
With a solemn and penetrating gaze, Ragnar watched as Josephine ate contentedly and happily. It seemed that the food really was scrumptious. There was a scorching hot fish ball in Josephine’s mouth, but she did not want to spit it out. Instead, she held it between her teeth and blew softly to cool it down.
“Is it really that good?” Ragnar couldn’t help but ask.
“Yes,” she replied.
Josephine picked up a fishcake with a fork and went on, “It’s really good! Want to try some?”
To his own surprise, Ragnar leaned in and gobbled up the fishcake without any forethought.
It was a peculiar taste that he had never experienced before.
Although Ragnar considered it junk food, it tasted surprisingly good.
“Tastes good, right?”
deve
Next, Josephine speared a piece of fish fillet with the fork and fervently recommended, “Try this one too. It’s also good!”

Ragnar leaned over, grabbed her hand, and ate the fish fillet she gave him.
The fish fillet was relatively large.
He kept eating one bite after another while retaining his posture.
Then he looked at Josephine and responded, “It’s quite good!”
Josephine was speechless.
She did not think there was anything wrong before, but at that moment, she felt something strange between them, as if there was an ambiguous feeling in the air.
After finishing the fish stew, Ragnar carried Josephine and placed her on the huge bed.
The atmosphere was quite intimate, and Ragnar’s dark pupils made Josephine a little scared of him.
She did not really want to go to bed. She felt that that was a dangerous place to be in now.
“Mr. Levine, why don’t you sleep first? I’m not very sleepy.”
Josephine was coming up with a good plan, thinking she would sleep on the couch outside the room once Ragnar fell asleep.
However, Ragnar saw through her thoughts.
He looked at her with his dark eyes. “Don’t worry. I won’t do anything to you in your situation. Yes, I do have feelings for you, but I’m not a beast.” Ragnar kept his word.
He then carried Josephine back to bed, and the most he did was kiss her. After that, he pulled her into his embrace. “Let’s sleep.”
Josephine was speechless once again.
Ragnar was hugging her quite tightly.
She could not sleep when she could smell Ragnar’s scent, thinking that he might have the urge to do something indecent..
She moved and tried to get out of Ragnar’s embrace.
“Don’t you want to sleep?”
Ragnar’s voice was hoarse.
He looked at Josephine and continued, “Or what do you want to do something more for me?”
Josephine was stunned. She shook her head instinctively, feeling that danger was lurking.
“I’ll sleep.”
She quickly closed her eyes and did not dare to move again. Her body was now stiff as she was held in Ragnar’s embrace. Josephine thought she would not be able to sleep, but perhaps she had gotten used to his scent and temperature and gotten used to sleeping on the same bed as him.
It was not long before Josephine fell asleep.
However, Ragnar was unable to sleep.
In the dark night, he opened his eyes while Josephine was sleeping in his arms, but he could not sleep at all.
Every cell in his body was raging, wanting him to do something.
“What is wrong with me? Is it because I haven’t felt anything like this before in the 28 years I’ve lived? Could it be that I’ve been stagnant for too long, and now my body is craving some action?” Ragnar thought.
In the end, Ragnar closed his eyes.
He told himself not to think too much and forced himself to fall asleep.
However, Josephine, who had fallen asleep, began to move around again.
