A blood-curdling growl reverberated through the dark woods that could wilt the beautiful blossoms of the woods. The humongous black creature veered to his left and disappeared into the wild bushes. Trudging through them, he took a big puff of fresh air that swatted his face but still, it wasn’t strong enough to extinguish the fire in his heart. His thick, shiny brown fur sparkled in the moonlight like embers.

The beast’s large ears perked up by the rustling of leaves. His eyes darkened in rage when he stared at the lavish vegetation of the forest. A sick thought to ravage them crossed his mind. His golden eyes teeming with raw madness glared at them as if he could burn them alive. The cynical monster pounced on one of them and started pushing it with his massive height. The poor tree could no longer stand in front of his hulk and succumbed to death. And eventually, that tree joined a pile as the beast soon started demolishing the greenery of the forest.

He was unstoppable, unrelenting, and brutal.

“DAMIEN!!”

A thunderous growl seized his bestial acts. Panting hard, he turned behind only to be met with a pair of green eyes trained on him. Closing his orbs, he curled in a ball, and soon the sound of bone-cracking echoed in that eerie forest.

“What do you want, Zion?”, Damien rasped, his voice evincing his frustration. The man of swarthy complexion slowly approached him while skimming his forest orbs at the destruction his Alpha had created.

“Do you even realize what have you done? I know your temper issues but you need to control your anger, Damien. By the way, what got you so riled up?”

Damien closed his eyes and curled his fingers in a deadly fist after hearing his beta’s words. He tried to shut down the voices but failed every time as they kept pounding in his head, reminding him of the brutal humiliation he had ever faced in his life.

“What could be expected from a rich asshole like you?”

“You may be rich Mr. Knight but don’t mistake me for girls who would sleep her way to the top.”

“Such a pity that a business mogul is blessed with such a cheap mentality. I feel bad for your employees that they got a sectarian Boss.”

“Bloody manwhore, let me make it clear to you. Don’t you ever disrespect me or else I will pull your tongue out of your mouth and wrap it around your neck.”

“Don’t you ever come in front of me or I won’t be responsible for my action.”

“Here” *throws a white paper on his face* “take my resignation letter. I would pay you the money for infringing the contract but I won’t work for a bastard!!”

“You should be ashamed of yourself, Damien Knight.”

“You are a blot in the name of a man”.

“URGG!!!”

Damien growled thunderously which even shocked Zion. But his eyes turned to the size of saucers when Damien started punching the dead log with all his force, reducing it into woodchips.

“ALPHA!! CONTROL YOURSELF!!”

Zion shouted and grabbed his bicep but Damien pushed him back and continued pummeling the trees, unleashing his wrath.

Never in his life had someone dared to raise their voice in front of him but the girl of her dreams not only humiliated him but also questioned his masculinity. A big dent in a male ego. She called him names, and the look of hatred and revulsion in her eyes tore him apart. The worst part of the whole scenario was that he was offended by the girl to whom he lost his heart.

Emma was the first girl who introduced Damien to this euphoric feeling. His wolf Scar was also hurt as she left no stone unturned in humiliating him. He wanted to make her a part of his life but Emma destroyed all his hopes.

Her bitter words kept ringing in his ears. He continued raining punches on the ground as he had broken all the logs by now.

“You should be ashamed of yourself, Damien Knight.”

“You are a blot in the name of a man”.

His knuckles were bleeding by now. The pain of anger and indignation was too much but he kept going like a rabid dog. Drenched in sweat, Damien continued draining his body. Zion kept watching his madness like an onlooker. Exhaling loudly, Damien then sagged to the ground in exhaustion and that’s when Zion came into action.

“You done?”

Damien didn’t reply to him and continued catching his breath. Zion then picked him up by his shoulders and helped him get in his car and drove him to his penthouse.

Time skips

Wrenching the door open, Zion entered while supporting an injured Damien on his shoulders and closed the door. But he flinched when Damien slapped his hands away and staggered his way inside the lounge. Zion stared at the haggard Alpha with pity as he sat on the sofa with a thud, staining the expensive leather with his blood.

Damien had a major weakness. Despite being a werewolf, he takes time to heal, unlike others. Zion and Xander were too worried for him and that’s why they always kept him away from fights. Other than that Damien had major anger issues. Together they form a beneficial combo for his enemies that’s why his gamma and beta always stayed near Damien like shields. But because of his mission, they had to keep an eye on him from afar.

Zion took out a vial from his jacket and handed it to Damien before disappearing into the kitchen. Groaning in pain, Damien simply attached that vial to his lips and poured that golden liquid down his throat. Throwing the vial away, he then rested his head on the headrest and closed his eyes.

Hearing the sound of glass shattering, Zion immediately jogged back to the lounge with a glass of water in his hands only to see broken pieces of glasses crowded around his Alpha’s feet who was relaxing with closed eyes. Shaking his head, he then focused his attention on Damien’s arms and feet. His lips stretched in a smile watching his wounds heal leaving no scars behind. That golden liquid was the magical portion that was given to Damien to heal his injuries quickly, like an antidote. It was just a temporal solution as the hunt for a permanent recourse was still going on.

Taking a seat beside him, Zion inhaled sharply before speaking, “I know you won’t tell me the reason behind your anger but you should understand that nothing is more important than our mission, Alpha.” He spoke firmly earning a nod from Damien who was still in a daze.

Damien then tilted his neck and looked at Zion, “You are right. I lost my cool. You know it’s so hard to deal with humans. These fucking mortals don’t even have an idea that we can break their neck in two within a snap of our fingers.” He growled making Zion snort.

“Anyways, why are you here? Got any updates?” Damien spoke casually while taking the glass from his hands.

Zion nodded, “Yeah. Our spies had finally dug that Edward’s daughter’s name.”

Damien gestured for him to go on while sipping the water. Zion then fished out a photograph from the left pocket of his denim jacket and extended it to him.

Frowning, Damien looked at it only to choke on the water the moment his grey eyes fell on the familiar pair of blue hues. With the speed of lightning, he looked at Zion in shock who kept watching him with a straight face.

“T-This?”

“Yeah, she is Edward’s daughter. Emmaline Richard Dawson.”
