Chapter 22

Ethan thought that it was impossible because he had full confidence in his judgment—this woman wasno pushover. On the contrary, she was a sly little fox and may even be a ferocious little wolf.

Therefore, he highly anticipated what would unfold next.

“Mr. Knight, the wedding will continue. Aren’t you going to do anything?” Isn’t he suspicious that MissWoland could be the woman that night? Even if it’s just a guess, he can’t let her marry Bruce Yeagerjust like this! “Mr. Knight, should I just wreak havoc at this venue?”

Caleb felt that it was about time to make a mess of things. Even if Alice wasn’t the person Ethan waslooking for, he thought that the pitiful Alice shouldn’t marry the heartless Bruce, not to mention the factthat everyone in the Yeager Family was rotten to the core.

“You don’t have to do it.” Ethan chuckled. If his guess was right on the money, a good show was aboutto begin.

I don’t have to do it? Is Mr. Knight going to do it himself? While Caleb was pondering over this, a mobsuddenly burst into the grand hall on the second floor.

It was an actual mob of people, and a massive one at that, consisting of about ninety people from allwalks of life. There were journalists from X-tra Network and other media companies, a few peoplelooking like business owners, some construction workers, and quite a few women, elderly people, andchildren. Anyone with more than a single brain cell could tell that they brought their family with them to‘attend’ the wedding.

The scene looked a little scary when such a big crowd of people exploded into the weddingunannounced. In addition, these people were clearly furious, as though they were here for revenge, and their presence quickly frightened the guests in attendance.

Everyone else was utterly shocked by the turn of events. What was happening?

“Mr. Knight, who are these people?” Caleb gulped nervously. Earlier, Ethan had said that there was noneed for him to wreck the wedding… Did he hire these people to cause a scene?

But this wasn’t his style!

The look on Thomas’ face turned incredibly sullen at the sight of the mob that had barged into thevenue. “What are you guys doing? Who are you people? How can you barge in here as you wish?Security, throw them all out!”

A group of journalists rushed forward, brushing off his warnings. “We’re from X-tra news station.”

“And we’re the reporters from News Wind.”

“We’re…”

The journalists started to introduce themselves, and they all hailed from influential media companies. There were even some of which the Yeager Family intended to invite but failed to do so.

Thomas’ face turned grimmer with each introduction.

“Mr. Yeager, Yeager Corp invested in Moonlight Bay and is fully responsible for it, right?”

When the reporter mentioned the name ‘Moonlight Bay’, his heart skipped a beat, and he had a badpremonition about their line of questioning.

On the other hand, the journalists bombarded him with razor-sharp questions one after the other whenhe didn’t answer promptly.

“Mr. Yeager, since the Yeager Corp is responsible for Moonlight Bay, is it true that an accident occurredon May 13th, 2020?”

“Who are you people? Why are you here to ruin our wedding? I’m going to get my lawyer to—”

Although he was worried, he wasn’t afraid. Since he could suppress this matter back then, it went toshow that he had already taken care of all the loose ends. Hence, he was confident that no one couldreplace out what had really happened back then.

Unfortunately, the journalist cut him off mid-sentence.

“We received a tip that a severe accident happened at Moonlight Bay on 13th May 2020, where elevensite workers completely disappeared. From the surveillance we received dated the same day, theseeleven workers started showing up for work at the Moonlight Bay construction site on the said day at6.30AM, and the accident took place at 9.00AM. Between that, the eleven workers never once left thesite, and neither did they appear anymore after that. After the accident, the families of the site workerswere told that the workers had passed away in a road accident and received 100,000 as compensation. We did an investigation with the witnesses who were present during the accident and confirmed thatthese eleven workers died in the accident. However, based on our replaceings, the Yeager Corp didn’t takeany rescue measures despite knowing that eleven workers were buried underground in order to hidethe truth. Mr. Yeager, please give everyone an explanation and justice for the victim’s families!”

Thomas’ eyes, which were usually deep and conniving, were filled with shock and fear at thejournalist’s short yet piercing announcement. His face twisted into an expression of disbelief and terror. The confident individual speaking with authority just a second ago had disappeared, and if one lookedclosely, one could see that he was trembling.

He knew all too well the severity and damage of the Moonlight Bay accident being exposed sosuddenly and during the wedding, no less.

How did this happen? Who? Who’s the one that wanted to do me in?

Clearly, the other party came prepared—hitting him right at his fatal spot and catching him completelyoff-guard. Moreover, they didn’t lie nor exaggerate the accident as it truly was severe, and he didn’teven dare to think of the consequences of this incident being exposed.

Meanwhile, Ethan’s brows raised in amusement. Although he expected her to surprise him, he didn’tthink that it would be so exciting.

The place became a brutal battlefield the moment the reporter’s words registered in everyone’s minds!

Even though no blood was spilled, every verbal lashing was lethal, and he also felt rather caught off-guard.

On the other hand, Caleb was in utter shock. “This is a really ruthless and brutal move. As the sayinggoes, hit the snake at its vitals, seven inches beneath its head. Every strike from this strategy is fatal!Who did this? Nothing of the accident at Moonlight Bay was leaked out back then, and there wasn’teven a relevant report about it. This goes to show that Thomas Yeager had used all his connections tosuppress this matter…” Caleb paused mid-sentence. After years of working alongside Ethan, he knewhow devastating this could be for Thomas and the people on his payroll. “That’s eleven lives, and itconcerns the future and fate of so many people. Since he succeeded in suppressing it, everyone musthave been cautious and covered up each other’s tracks. But now, someone actually exposedeverything and even invited Mr. Langdon, the impartial journalist who only speaks the truth. There is noturning back for this matter now. Who exactly is this?”

Right now, Caleb was filled with admiration for this person’s strategy!

Ethan merely smiled in response as he thought, Yes, it is very impressive!

“Return my husband to me!”

“I want my father back!”

“My son died a horrible death!”

The ones who showed up as a family were none other than the victims’ families, and they lunged atThomas with a vengeance. Each one was rightfully bitter and vindictive as they couldn’t wait to tear himto pieces.

A gloomy Thomas couldn’t say a word in the face of their accusation. It’s impossible to hide this matterunder such circumstances. The only way is to divert this.

Therefore, he quickly took a few steps to Bruce’s side and whispered, “Let Alice admit to this, sayingthat she was the person in charge of Moonlight Bay at that time.”

Thomas knew how severe this matter was and intended for Alice to take the rap for it.

After all, she would be married into the Yeager Family and was their future daughter-in-law. So if hemanipulated some facts afterward, it seemed reasonable for Alice to take the blow for her future father-in-law’s sake. His tactic was perfect!
