Chapter 522

Chapter 522 Willing to Spare No Expense for My Wife

As Jason listened to the other party’s barrage of reprimands, he rubbed his temples and found itsomewhat amusing. “No… but why are you in such a hurry about this?”

The old man said, “What hurry? Don’t you understand the rules of propriety? Isn’t Aletta worth the mostgrandiose treatment from you?”

“Naturally, she is,” Jason responded firmly.

“Then why are you wasting time talking?” the old man’s tone carried clear disdain.

After some consideration, Jason replied, “It’s not that I don’t want to, but it’s not convenient for Aletta atthe moment. She’s still recovering and it will take some time before we can go through all of this.”

The old man wasn’t buying it. “Having a meal with both families won’t tire her out. Once she’s feelingbetter, we should be well-prepared for the engagement ceremony!”

Upon hearing this, Jason thought the argument made sense.

So he made arrangements, “We’ll be going abroad in a few days, so let’s do it tomorrow… We’llpresent the betrothal gifts first, and then prepare for the engagement ceremony when Aletta is wellenough.”

Hearing his methodical words, the old man finally seemed satisfied. “I think that will work! I’ll go informthem, and then we can have a meal together with both families!”

Before Jason could react, the old man couldn’t wait and hung up the phone.

Who knows, one might think it’s him getting married!

Because of Old Mr. Hill’s involvement in this matter, Jason finished work early today.

In the evening, he went to the old mansion ahead of time.

When he arrived, he saw the spacious hall filled with various expensive betrothal gifts.

From antique vases and calligraphy to jade and gemstones, as well as top-grade bird’s nest, ginseng, and medicinal herbs, all sorts of rare treasures…

Jason could tell that many of them were treasures that the old man had collected over the years.

He raised an eyebrow, glanced at Old Mr. Hill who was still directing the servants to move things out,and said, “Quite extravagant, old man. Are you willing to spend so much?”

Old Mr. Hill had noticed Jason when he entered the room, but he didn’t bother to pay attention to him.

Now, upon hearing his words, he reluctantly responded, “What’s there to be unwilling about? I’m willingto spare no expense for Aletta!”

His tone was filled with deep affection for Aletta, his granddaughter-in-law.

Jason didn’t feel the need to compete with him over being the actual grandson. After all, hisgrandfather was right, this was for his wife, so he was willing to spare no expense!

As they were talking, Jay and Jenny also arrived.

Jay had his usual calm expression, while Jenny seemed unwilling, her expression showing herreluctance.

She seemed to have been forced to come!

Jason frowned but ignored her.

Jay didn’t pay attention to her either and, engrossed in discussing gift arrangements with Old Mr. Hill,he said, “Are these enough? If not, I have many collectibles that I can have brought over as well.”

When Jay mentioned it, he remembered something. “Aletta is studying medicine, and I have top-qualitysnow lotus and Lingzhi mushrooms in my collection. She’ll definitely like them!”

Upon hearing this, Old Mr. Hill didn’t hesitate, “Sure, sure. Find a time to bring them over. Our girl willsurely love them.”

The father and son were deep in discussion, completely ignoring Jason on the side.

Jason felt somewhat helpless and couldn’t help but speak up, “Who’s actually getting engaged here? Itseems like the two of you are more enthusiastic about this than I am. You’ve taken care of everything,so what am I supposed to do?”

Hearing his son’s words, Jay chuckled, “Your grandfather and I are just concerned because we finallymanaged to coax back a daughter-in-law for you. As elders, how can we not worry?”

Old Mr. Hill directly expressed his disdain, “We give what we can give as representatives of the Hills. It’s the gesture from us to our girl. Don’t you also prepare something on your own?”

Jenny, witnessing the three generations enthusiastically discussing, was filled with anger!

These three people, they act as if she doesn’t exist, and yet they’re discussing getting married soenthusiastically!

As the thought of Aletta crossed Jenny’s mind, her expression grew increasingly unpleasant.

Old Mr. Hill noticed and immediately expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, “Why the long face? Whoare you trying to impress with that gloomy expression?”

Recalling Jenny’s past foolish actions, the old man began to scold her.

“If you don’t want to be involved in Jason and Aletta’s marriage, I won’t force you. But Jenny, let mewarn you, Jason and Aletta have come a long way, and if you dare to ruin it, you’ll have to deal withme!”

Jenny was already feeling unhappy, and upon hearing Old Mr. Hill’s words, her expression worsened.

She confidently expressed her discontent, saying, “After all, I am the lady of the Hills. Yet, everyone isso lively about this matter, without even asking for my opinion!”

Old Mr. Hill sneered, “You? What opinion do you have? Is your opinion important? Besides causingtrouble, what else can you do?”

Jenny was aware that her past actions had caused displeasure among the others, but she didn’t thinkshe had done anything wrong.

Feeling even more indignant after being spoken to this way by Old Mr. Hill, she protested with a hint ofgrievance, “I’m also considering Jason’s happiness!”

Old Mr. Hill’s voice grew stern as he retorted, “The best consideration you can give him is to notinterfere!”

He looked at Jenny, not concealing his dissatisfaction with her, and warned her once again, “I’ll say itagain, either be a good wealthy wife and live a good life with Jay, or get out of the Hills!”

His words echoed loudly in the ears of everyone present.

Including the servants of the old mansion!

Jenny felt stifled inside and found it hard to bear.

Old Mr. Hill wasn’t done yet.

He coldly stated, “Aletta’s entrance into this family is for the sake of living a good life with Jason. You,as the mother-in- law, better not show her any displeasure! You know what you’ve done to her in thepast, and don’t expect Aletta to treat you respectfully. She is herself, and you are yourself, got it?”

Jenny’s face was full of frustration, and she couldn’t help but look at her husband and son.

But both father and son were equally indifferent, and no one came to her aid…

In the end, she could only grit her teeth and say, “I understand!”

Seeing that his mother had settled down, Jason couldn’t be bothered to say anything.

Afterward, together with Old Mr. Hill, they checked a few things and confirmed sending them to theRogers Family.

Once the matters here were arranged, Jason and Eaton returned to the Hill Villa’s collection room. They selected several items for Eaton to take to the old mansion to be sent together later.

After dealing with the engagement matters, Jason glanced through some documents. Just as hefinished his work, Aletta called.

“What are you up to? Haven’t finished yet?” Aletta asked. She had stayed at the research institute afterher examination by Walt during the day, and she wasn’t particularly busy, just looking at research datato pass the time.

Speaking gently, Jason replied, “I’m done. I’ll come to pick you up for dinner later!”

Upon hearing that he was coming, Aletta responded, “Okay, I’ll wait for you at the research institute!”

Hanging up the phone, Jason set off.

The weather outside was gloomy, and when he arrived, there was a light rain falling from the sky.

Aletta opened an umbrella and got into the car, her hands feeling icy cold.

“So cold!” Aletta shivered, putting the umbrella away, and without hesitation, she slipped her hands intoJason’s embrace, saying, “Warm!”
