Chapter 27

We feed the babes then head to the throne room to meet with the guards. Thankfully no one destroyed this room and the bassinets are still set up by the thrones. I will have to thank Fenrir for thinking ahead. Once we have set the babes down and sat the guards all pile in to the throne room. They look confused at first but do not say anything. Theo walks forward and hands me two folders. I thank him and he stands off to the side. I see Keith in attendance even though I did not think he would be here.

I look through all of the reports and notice that some of the guards have family in the cells. Theo has been extremely thorough in his replaceings. I hand over the files for the guys to look over. While they are looking them over I start observing the guards. None of them seem nervous except Keith, but I notice that he keeps glancing at the little one in my lap. The little one starts cooing while looking at Keith.

“Keith come forward.” I address him finally.

As Keith walked forward both the guys whipped there heads up and stared at him. He stumbled slightly at the movement but composed him self quickly. Suddenly I had two voices in my head and it was giving me a migraine. I shut them both out and gave the guys a pointed look. They quickly sat back and let me do what was needed. Keith stopped in front of the thrones and bowed.

“Rise Kieth.” I said.

“Tell me what has been going on here in the castle since we have met.” I say.

“My dad has been arrested and no one will tell me why but I do know that he was very secretive and disappeared from home for days at a time. So I figure if he is in jail he finally got his butt caught. I have taken care of my mom and siblings since I moved out of my home at 18. My dad beat my mom when she threatened to have him investigated because he refused to tell her what he was doing especially how he wouldn’t come home with money for the family. After that there has been a rise in crimes because of people’s family members being arrested. We have been kept pretty busy between people causing issues to trying to break people out of jail.” He explained. “There have been strange people coming and going into the castle as well. I caught one, one night and managed to get them into lock up. But because I do not know who it was that let them in I am unsure if they are still in the jail or have been released.” He said through mind-link.

“Keith I know you have been through a lot and I thank you for trusting us and not trying to break your father out. I understand not having a reason given to you can be challenging but you will get your reason very soon.” I say to him. “I will need to sift through your memories to replace out who these people are so we can get to the bottom of all this. Who did you tell that you brought someone down to the jail?” I say through mind-link.

“Thank you. May I ask are these your babes?” He says. “You may, I will do anything to help you. Also I told Theo. He was mad that someone was sneaking people in to the castle. We have been secretly trying to get to the bottom of it. I am sorry someone made it to your apartments. I am thankful none of you were there when it happened.” He said through mind-link.

“Yes and no Keith. This little bundle of joy is yours. Before you go to object, I want you to listen to me. Isobel’s WOLF gave her life to protect my babes, and in the process showed that she truly should have a second chance. The Gods and Goddesses placed this little one in my womb to give to you. So not only do you get a child back but Isobel’s WOLF has her second chance. They did not do this lightly. They know you were drugged when your other pup was conceived and you never knew. This is their way of trying to right the wrongs done to you. I can not raise her. She is a WOLF. My mates can not even touch her because it could kill her. So Keith are you going to accept this gift?” I explain. “She is not a normal WOLF she is special and needs to keep her powers hidden and she needs to be kept safe. Your mate will accept her I am sure of it.” I say through mind-link.

Keith has silent tears falling down his face. “I was wondering what was going on when Cleo mind-linked me saying that my pups body had disappeared, but she said the Moon Goddess had come to her and told her not to fret and all would be ok again.” He said now fully crying.

I stood up and approached him with the little one snuggled in my arms. I put my hand on his face and started sifting through his memories and was startled when I saw that he had caught Alpha Jameson. But I continued through his memories and pulled up the one about Cleo contacting him. He truly did seem happy about this. I take my hand from his face, cleaning tears from him. I make him look at me and have him hold out his arms. I show him how to properly hold her before I set his pup in his arms. Instantly they both seem at ease and the pup instantly falls asleep.

“We did not name her because that is not our right. So we have just been calling her little one. She may be small but do not let that fool you.” I say to Keith before going and sitting back down.

“She is not joking Keith. That little girl of yours has the lungs of a banshee.” Hydrus says laughing, “But she is precious and will have you wrapped right around her little finger.”

I giggle and shake my head, then say, “Theo, Keith may go now. Please let him take some time to get things situated for the little one and his family.”

“Keith you heard her Majesty. Take the time you need and if you need help I am here as well as the rest of the dads here should you ask.” Theo says.

Keith leaves and we start calling up all the names that are related to ones that have been arrested. I sift through their memories while the guys question them. This process did not take very long because I would not let the guys keep questioning them if their memories were fine. We were down to the last three people that are related and we hit the jackpot with all three. I sifted through their memories and they were part of the scheme but not just that they were involved with the other people who have been either sentenced or jailed. So as not to raise any red flags we mind-link Theo to have those three followed by trusted and already interviewed guards. Once they are away from everyone’s view, they are to arrest them and jail them as well.

We then move on to the ones who are not related and we only hit a few bumps along the way. There were a few who’s memories were tampered with, but we found they were not involved just caught people and the information we found was good. The whole process took about two hours but we came away with culprits and a lot of information.

“Theo, Thank you for bringing everyone in to see us today. Once we have compiled everything we will have you come and have a meeting with us. I want you to bring your most trusted people with you to this meeting.” I say to Theo, “Oh, I also want you to have the guards that helped me with the Fae present as well. They deserve this after everything they have done.”

“I will do anything to protect this Kingdom my Queen. I look forward to the meeting and I will put a lot of thought in to who should be in the meeting.” Theo said then asks, “which guards were those?”

I hand Theo the files of the guards that helped me. Theo looks at them and smiles. He then turns and leaves with the doors closing behind him.

We had a small break and I was getting hungry so I asked the guys if they would like to go eat. They both seemed like they wanted to say yes but something was holding them back.

“What is making you not want to eat?” I ask.

“Well with the food and drinks being poisoned I am not sure if we should eat or drink anything from this realm.” AnLeon said.

“Why don’t we go and make the food so we know it will not be poisoned.” I said.

They both agreed so we picked up the babes and went to look for the kitchen. After about five minutes of wandering we found the kitchen. We stepped through the kitchen door and all noise and people stopped what they are doing and looked at us. An elderly lady came rushing over to us and bowed.

“Your Majesty what can I do for you?” the elderly lady said while bowing.

I sifted through her memories quickly before replying, “What is your name ma’am?”

“My name is Everly.” She replied immediately.

“Everly you may rise.” I said, “The rest of you may leave the kitchen While I discuss some meal choices with Everly. I will only take about thirty minutes and then you can return. I will be having a meeting later with different sectors of the castle people to discuss the needs over the next few days. When you are called upon you will be required to be there.”

Everyone left after my little speech. Once the last person left and AnLeon checked the kitchen and hall for stragglers I stepped up to a stool and took a seat.

“Everly why don’t you come have a seat with me while Hydrus and AnLeon cook something for us to eat.” I said.

At first she was hesitant but decided to listen. We were both seated on a stool at an island. Hydrus handed me the other babe and went to join AnLeon to cook.

“Now Everly, can you tell me if there are any staff members in the kitchen that are new or related to anyone that has been arrested or killed?” I asked.

“Your Majesty why are you asking me questions like this. You should have all the paperwork on all of the staff members. I also know you went through my memories but do not know why.” She replied, “But now that you ask I will answer. We have had a few new people over the last several weeks and I was really confused on how they were hired when they have no experience and I have a lot of food waste because of them. There are a couple people that work in the kitchen that are related to the ones that were murdered but none that were arrested.”

“Thank you Everly. Were the new ones hired before or after I showed up?” I asked

“Just after your Majesty. It was really weird actually. I did not even need the help in the kitchen but the hiring magistrate did not want to hear what I had to say. He just told me to shut up and train them. I went to Theo once because I was starting to get suspicious of their behavior and he told me just to watch them and write everything down in detail. So that is what I did. He also told me not to trust anyone but him and the Majesties with the information. I am assuming there is something bad happening and that’s why you are here?” She said.

“You are very wise and knowledgeable about the goings on in the Castle Everly. I appreciate your wisdom. But you should know that those people were placed here to poison and kill the King and his mates. While the King is on leave we as his mates are trying to get to the bottom of everything. I need you to be very very careful. Oh and we are having a banquet but it will not be til the Kings return. We are only using it as a ruse to question people without suspicion. So I will have Hydrus give you the list of foods we need prepared before we leave but you do not have to make them til I tell you we need them.” I explain.

Hydrus sets plates in front of us and then the guys sit across from us. Hydrus slides a piece of paper across the island to Everly and she looks it over and nods her head.

“Now lets eat this scrumptious meal these two prepared for us.” I say.

We all dig in and eat the meal the guys made. It was really good and I could tell it was very nutritious. As we were eating I could feel my energy coming back. Everly seemed to notice this as well. She even seemed to look younger. I looked up at the guys and they did not say anything though, so I went back to eating. Once we were done eating the kitchen staff started to filter back in to the Kitchen. I told Everly I would be back in a few days to finish discussing the fine details of the food we wanted. She bowed and went back to work. We left the kitchen feeling full but I was really thirsty and the babes needed to feed. Hydrus produced bottles for the babes and drinks for us when we returned to the throne room. We all had our fill of drinks and then fed the babes. Once the babes were all done feeding I mind-linked Theo to come to the Throne room for the meeting.
