Chapter 61
- I can’t!” I declared.
My words were followed by a loud gunshot.
My breath hitched and my heart sank in the pit of my stomach. The first thought that came to my head was that Nathaniel has shot Luciano because this is from which direction the sound came. Instinctively, my gaze darted towards the source of the sound, my eyes widening in horror as I beheld a scene straight out of my worst nightmares.
But
My eyes widened but before I could react the hall boomed with another gunshot which was followed by another man collapsing on the floor. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as I struggled to make sense of the chaos unfolding around me. amidst the confusion and the fear, a glimmer of relief flickered within me, knowing that it wasn’t Luciano who was hurt.
What confused me more was the fact that the men who were holding Clara shot the men holding Luciano,
Even Nathaniel seemed taken aback by the turn of events, his expression a mask of confusion and disbelief as he struggled to make sense of the situation.
“Do you think I am fool Nathaniel?” Luciano asked him with a smirk playing across hist lips “When you sought security for your wedding, I ensured that my men were the ones you hired. And now, you reap the consequences of your own folly.”
Luciano laughed and this time the color of Nathaniel’s face drained. But soon his real face came out. He was fuming in raw primal rage. With a guttural growl, he seized me by the arm, his grip like a vice as he dragged me towards him with a violence that sent shards of pain shooting through my body. I could feel a forceful tug at my belly which made me worried about my child.
“You dare defy me?” he snarled, his voice a low, menacing growl that sent shivers down my spine.
His fingers closed around the handle of the gun, the cold metal pressing against my temple with a chilling finality. This time he dug it deeper which shot pain in my forehead.
Panic surged through me as I stared into his eyes, I found them dark with fury and madness. In that moment, I knew that he was serious, that he was ready to kill me.

“Let her go, Nathaniell Luciano’s voice rang out as he stepped forward, his eyes ablaze with pure anger.
But Nathaniel only laughed, a cruel sound that reverberated through the hall like a death knell.
“You think you can stop me, Luciano?” he sneered, his grip on the gun tightening with each passing second. “Think again.”
With a savage snarl, he turned the gun towards Luciano, the barrel gleaming ominously in the dim light.
“One move, and she dies,” he spat, his voice dripping with venom as he moved the gun between me and Luciano.
My heart hammered in my chest like a drumbeat, my body paralyzed by fear and uncertainty.
“Is she can’t be mine than I will not let her to be anyone else’s as well” Nathaniel snarled.
“You will regret your mere existence!” Luciano threatened him, targeting the gun towards Nathaniel.
“I don’t give a flying fuck Luciano!” Nathaniel came back “She is my life, and if I can’t have her, then I will be damned if I let her belong to anyone else. I would rather die than see her with another man. I would rest in peace knowing that she was always
fine!”
With trembling hands, I reached up, grasping Nathaniel’s wrist with a strength born of desperation.
“I am not an object that you could claim, Nathaniel! I was never yours. I was blind that I stayed in relationship with you even when you were treating me like a trash, beating met and saying abusing words. I was swayed away by your fake love that you used to show for a few minutes. I was never yours and I could never be. Just throw this thought out of your head!” The words poured forth from me like a dam bursting, years of pent–up frustration and resentment spilling out into the open.
Nathaniel’s face contorted with rage as my words struck a nerve, his eyes narrowing into slits of fury.
“You are an ungrateful bitch!” he spat, his voice dripping with venom. “You were nothing without me, Vanessa. Nothing! Your uncle and aunt used to treat you like trash.

It was just because of me that they treated you well. It was all because of me you could get such a beautiful life and…”
But before he could utter another word, before his next breath could even escape his lips, I acted on instinct, fueled by a primal surge of adrenaline and anger. With a swift movement, I turned around, brought my knee up and kicked him where the sun doesn’t shines.
A loud growl of pain escaped his mouth and he crumpled on the ground with a sudden and forceful attack.
I wasted no time in seizing my chance for escape and sprinted towards Luciano, my heart pounding in my chest as I ran towards him.
As I rushed towards Luciano, a loud bang echoed through the room. Suddenly, Luciano grabbed me and spun us around, just in time to dodge the bullet by a hair’s breadth. We stumbled backward and fell to the ground in a jumble of limbs.
Breathing heavily, I clung to Luciano, feeling the pounding of his heart match mine.
“Are you okay?” he asked
I wasn’t able to even nod my head when Luciano’s eyes flicked to Nathaniel. They widened and his body once again became alert.
I heard another gun shot, but Luciano acted on time and tossed our bodies on the ground, saving us from yet another shot.
Out of anger, Nathaniel directed the gun towards Clara, but before he could pull the trigger Luciano shot his arm.
With a loud bang, Luciano’s bullet struck Nathaniel’s arm, causing him to cry out in pain as he stumbled backwards, his grip on the gun faltering. But Luciano wasn’t finished. With determination etched on his face, he fired again, this time targeting Nathaniel’s leg. Another cry of agony filled the room as Nathaniel crumpled to the ground, his body wracked with pain.
Luciano stood up while I stayed on the ground. My heart pounding in my chest, my
while I stayed on the ground. My heart legs too weak to stand on their own.
With two long strides, Luciano was standing above Nathaniel, his gun directed at Nathaniel’s brain.

For a moment, Luciano turned his head slightly to look at me, his eyes softening at the sound of my voice. But then, with a steely resolve, he returned his gaze to Nathaniel, his expression hardening with determination.
“If I want I could easily kill you and bury you in your own home and no one would come to know about it. But I will not do that because they and their would be no difference between you and me” Luciano spat “but that doesn’t mean I will leave you free. I will torture you to death and make sure that you beg me to kill you.”
Moving down his hand, Luciano pushed the gun in his back pocket.

Throw him in the basement, Luciano commanded, his voice firm and unwavering.
Without hesitation, his men sprang into action, moving forward to lift Nathaniel his arms. Despite his struggles, they hoisted him effortlessly, carrying him away like a sack of potatoes to face the consequences of his actions while Luciano came to me and helped me standing up. His body providing support for me to stand on my feet.
“Vanessa if you think you have made a right decision by choosing him over me than you are wrong!” Nathaniel spat, his voice filled with anger, desperation and pain “Get ready for another heartbreak.
Luciano’s men were continuously dragging Nathaniel back. But the last line that came out of his mouth left me stunned.
