Early in the morning, Carlos saw the news. Even though Sam had tried his best to deal with it, the news was too much for him to handle.

It was said that the mysterious head of the Lawson family did not indulge himself in love affairs, and he refused to show up in public. He was low–key, but very decisive and ruthless. Now, at the age of 27, he was already an outstanding man in Caurtine, which made people look up to him.

One party of the scandal was a popular actress, who was given the title of Sugar Pea. Apparently, she was kind and loved doing charity work. With both great acting skills and a good character, as well as the shows she acted in and her personality, she was well–loved by the public. On top of that, she was a big shot in the entertainment industry itself as well.

Meggie was a unique existence in the industry. Other female celebrities, or at least, some of them, would have scandals. Some were rumored to be sleeping with the directors, or having meals with producers, or getting involved with other popular male celebrities. However, Meggie did not have such news on her. The public had always thought that Meggie was supported by an influential party, and no one could afford to offend him. That was how they thought she could be in this industry without any trouble.

Now that the news of her going to Carlos‘ place was out, everyone felt enlightened.

It turned out that the man backing Meggie up was Carlos. That was why no one dared to do anything to her.

Now, all the live news, regardless of the entertainment or the economic section, was promoting their relationship.

“Rumors have it that the mysterious head of the Lawson family is having a secret girlfriend!”

“The secret relationship between the financial giant, Carlos, and the popular actress, Meggie, has been exposed!”

Every morning, Carlos had the habit of browsing the top economic news for the day. He had never read the entertainment section of the news, but now that the scandal had infested the economic section, it was difficult for him not to know about it.

He frowned deeply and was in a bad mood early in the morning.

Instantly, he called Sam to inquire about what was going on.

When Carlos found out that Edith had indeed been here, and she was stopped by Meggie to have a quick chat before she was sent away again, Carlos was furious because none of his people reported this matter to him. How daring of them?

If he had seen the little girl last night, she might not have been hungry.

At this moment, this was the only thing on his mind.

When the maid heard his cold and threatening words, she trembled all over and said, “Miss Huffam was afraid that I would interrupt you when you work,

In a foul mood, Carlos kicked the coffee table heavily. The table slid across the carpet with a muffled sound.

The sound cut through the silent air, and the whole living room was dawned in a strange atmosphere.

At this moment, Carlos‘ phone rang. It was a call from Meggie.

When he saw the caller’s name, he frowned slightly. For some reason, he felt a little disgusted.

However, he still picked it up.

Meggie said eagerly, “Carlos, have you seen the news? How could this have happened?”

Her tone was full of panic, as if she had just learned about this matter and immediately came to ask him.

Carlos‘ eyes narrowed as he spoke indifferently.

“I don’t know who leaked the news last night and allowed the media to have the opportunity to sprout all those nonsense!”

“Oh my God, who on earth is so evil?” Meggie paused for a moment and as if she had suddenly thought of something, she added excitedly, “Could it be the girl from last night?”

“What girl?” Carlos followed her line of thought.

On the other end of the line, Meggie heard how he spoke so indifferently and was unable to gauge his perspective on the matter. Carlos was brilliant, so she could not expose even the slightest bit of idea to him that she did this. Otherwise, she would be dead meat.

She had waited for so many years, and she finally had the chance to do this. She had to seize this opportunity.

She took a deep breath to suppress the uneasiness in her heart, regardless of whether he had guessed it was her.

She said, “Last night, Mr. Britton sent someone over out of the blue and asked you to teach her a lesson. At that time, you were busy. I saw that the girl was about the same age as me, and that she did not make a serious mistake. I didn’t want to disturb you when you were working, so I told her to go home. Meggie had investigated Edith last night and found out that she was actually Simon’s‘ newlywed wife.

“Even if Carlos had forgotten about my sister, he wouldn’t be interested in his nephew’s wife, would he? He needed everything to be perfect, so that’s impossible!” Meggie thought.

Therefore, Meggie did not care about Edith and threw all the blame on her.

After all, Edith was Simon’s wife. No matter how angry Carlos was, Meggie believed that he would harm his own family, right?

With that thought in mind, Meggie felt that her plan was flawless.

However, she missed one thing. She never would have thought that Edith was actually Carlos‘ wife, and not Simon’s!

After listening to Meggie’s exasperated words, Carlos said, “You don’t have to deal with this matter. I’ll deal with it myself. The company will deny the rumor, and you can hold a press conference to do it too if you have time. Anyhow, this matter ends here.”

“It… it ends just like this?” Meggie’s heart dropped when he heard how indifferent he was towards this matter.
