Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam -
Chapter 151
Chapter 151
“What did you dream of? Why are you so scared?”
“In my dream, I was trapped in a cave when people around pointed at me and threw stones. I tried my best to climb up, but I didn’t expect someone to throw stones at me from above. In the end… I woke up…”
“Do you remember what those people looked like?” he asked.
“No, I don’t know them.”
“Remember, maybe you will meet these people in real life. What will you do then when they agree outwardly but disagree inwardly and kick you when you are down?”
His deep and charming voice rendered her holding her breath in deep thought.
She thought, “What should I do if I am stuck with that dilemma?”
She was at a loss and looked at him blankly.
He reached out to stroke her head as if he was educating a child the truth bit by bit.
“An
eye
for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Save your mercy because they would never cherish your kindness, understand?”
His bewitching voice echoed in her heart.
She thought, “Why do I feel like you’ve experienced these kinds of things?”
“Did you have a similar incident before?”
“Yes. My world is far more complicated than you might think. Will you be afraid if I tell you?” He raised his eyebrows and asked.
Edith pouted. “Why should I be afraid? It’s just a dream, after all.”
“That’s good. If you can’t solve this kind of problem, don’t hide in my arms and cry.” His faint smile quickly faded away. He lay flat on the bed and added, “Go to sleep. I’ll protect you. No bad people will enter your dream.”
Assured by his words, she soon fell asleep and slept soundly without a nightmare.
At the sight of her flushed face, Carlos shook his head helplessly, thinking, “It’s so effortless to placate a girl. Am I her husband or her babysitter?”
He got up without complaint and gently carried her back to bed.
The next morning. Edith got up and was confused to replace Carlos had gone. The housekeeper said he had to go on a last–minute business trip and had no time to tell her.
The news left her a little upset.
She thought, “How harried was he to go on a business trip that he didn’t have time to tell me about‘?”
She left the villa in a sulk and took a taxi to work. It was a mess as soon as she arrived at the office.
It turned out that all design data in the computers in the design department had been deleted.
Some designers kept a copy on the internal servers, but some didn’t and lost all their work.
Everyone was waiting for the surveillance video and the one to blame for this mess.
Soon after, Emma said regretfully, “Last night, due to a power outage, the entire building’s security system was affected, and electronic surveillance cameras didn’t work. Perhaps, the designs have been stolen. The files you have kept can be saved as evidence. I will help you with your copyrights if similar products appear on the market. As for those who don’t have a backup, I’m afraid you will have to rush to make new ones, and it will be difficult to fight for your copyrights. If you don’t record it, it will be difficult to prove that this design is yours.”
These words made everyone wail.
Those who had lost their designs were bristling with anger.
Edith quickly checked her computer and found her draft had been deleted. But fortunately, she still had a backup.
Right at that moment, Emma called out to her.
“Edith, my office, please”
The words compelled her colleagues‘ attention.
A little confused, she still went over.
As soon as she left, their colleagues began to talk about her.
“I remember that she worked overtime last night!”
“Seems like she kept her design drafts intact. Do you think this is all her doing? She deliberately deleted all the other drafts to make her design stand out when we can’t catch up with the release of the new product!”

Chapter 151
“It’s possible. Otherwise, why did the boss call her in to talk?”
Everyone was gossiping maliciously
Emma got straight to the point when Edith entered the office. “Edith, did you have something to do with what happened last night?”
“Boss, are you suspecting me?” Edith asked in shock, her face a little pale.
Edith had never met these kinds of problems as a newcomer and was scared of being called into the office alone. However, greeted by Emma’s question, Edith was ladened with anxiety.
At the sight of Edith’s nervous expression, Emma quickly shook her head and said, “No, I’ve already learned about what happened from Robert in advance. Someone deliberately destroyed the switch last night and locked you in the office. He rescued you, so there’s no way you tampered with the computers. But I’m afraid your colleagues will think you’re responsible. Just tell them that you left before the accident. You must get rid of the suspicion first. I don’t want the office to be in a mess.”
“Carlos called me this morning and told me to take good care of you when he’s not around. Although I won’t show partiality for you, I will help you as much as possible.”
Her words left Edith in deep thought.
Edith thought, “Where on earth did he go?
Why would he ask someone to care for me as if he would be away for a long time?”
“Does he know about this?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Do you know where he went?”
“I don’t know. You don’t know either?” Emma asked in surprise.
This question rendered Edith uncomfortable.
Edith thought, “Is it reasonable for me to know nothing about his whereabouts?
He said he wanted to be with me, but now I don’t even know where he is.
It’s a little funny.”
Edith shook her head gently. Her expression was tinged with loneliness.
Emma would investigate the whole thing and tacitly asked Edith not to worry.
Edith came out and turned depressed due to Carlos. However, others thought she had been taught a lesson for her mistakes.
In this way, others‘ guesses were further confirmed.
Others figured that Emma couldn’t punish Edith, the culprit, because Carlos backed her.
Dissatisfied, Edith’s colleagues directly mocked her instead of gossiping about her behind her back.
Edith chose not to be with Summer and Sarah, fearing they would also be ostracized.
As a rookie in the workplace, Edith felt vicious competition in the workplace for the first time.
She finally realized that she would suffer from a deliberate frame–up as well.
Carlos disappeared for several days in a row, sending no message to Edith.
Edith couldn’t contact anyone, including Carlos, Sam, or her nominal husband.
The Lawson family suddenly disappeared.
