She took a deep breath and said sincerely, “Carlos, you should really take an IQ test. I seriously doubt your intelligence”

As she spoke, she started to feel uneasy and stopped mid–sentence. The expression on Carlos‘ face had turned sour, and she didn’t want to upset him any further.

She was nervous.

Carlos couldn’t sit still anymore and walked quickly towards her.

She was taken aback and instinctively took a few steps back, only to replace herself bumping into the sofa. Before she knew it, she lost her balance and fell backwards. Luckily, Carlos was quick to catch her.

Both of them fell to the sofa.

At this moment, everything felt just right.

Finally, he leaned in and gently kissed her, his lips meeting hers in a tender embrace.

The man struggled to control his hands, refraining from making any inappropriate movements.

As a mature man, he naturally knew about those things between men and women.

However, the young lady had recently left school and was still naive about the intricacies of romantic relationships. She only understood the concept of pure love.

They held hands, hugged, or kissed each other.

Edith was inexperienced and Carlos didn’t want to take advantage of her.

So, he wanted to leave the physical intimacy to their wedding night.

He loved her deeply, so he would rather wait instead of pressuring her into sex.

When it came to Edith, Carlos was meticulous and took things slowly instead of his usual straightforward approach.

Because business required him to be decisive, yet romantic relationship required him to be tender and loving.

They had a long life ahead of them, so if he pressured her, that would make Edith traumatized for life.

He was a thoughtful planner, he was playing the long game!

“Babe, I’m just a normal guy, and if I had any ulterior motives towards you, I wouldn’t have taken things so slow and steady like we’re dating. I don’t want to be too aggressive and make you uncomfortable, so let’s take it at your pace and make sure you feel safe. Don’t you trust me?”

Whenever she was with him, she enjoyed every second of it.

He wasn’t like Johann, who was old–fashioned in his thinking, believing that the first time should be saved for the wedding night. Carlos didn’t have such concept. The reason he was holding back was solely for her sake.

But she didn’t get him. Instead, she had been hesitating and doubting, questioning not only him but also herself.

After a brief silence, she spoke up. “Maybe I’ve always been compared to Vanessa since I was young, and people always said I wasn’t as good as her. So, I guess I started to believe it myself. And then Meggie and Susan said I reminded them of Natalie, so I thought you might have had other intentions, right?”

“You are you, irreplaceable. I think you’re the best and what I want the most,” the man said confidently, giving her a great deal of self–assurance.

Hearing this, Edith’s heart trembled.

Even Johann had not been so sure of her. However, Carlos was different.

He respected her, appreciated her strengths, and even allowed her to be herself.

He would take her to the amusement park, take care of her like a child, and spoil her willfully.

What was she hesitating about, with such a man by her side?

No matter what, she should really hold onto him tight!

She felt a sudden surge of courage and took a deep breath before bravely hooking her arms around him.

The man was caught off guard, he had no idea that she would make such a move.

With flushed cheeks, she sat up from the sofa and said, “I can’t take it anymore. I’m about to lose my breath and die.”

Carlos looked at her and thought, “It’s only been a few minutes, and you’re already out of breath? Do you need some air?”

“You silly, don’t you know how to catch your breath?”

“I don’t even know how to kiss, unlike you, the expert,” she quipped, rolling her eyes.

“Didn’t your ex–fiance teach you any of this?” asked Carlos excitedly.

When she heard this, her face became even redder.

It was because she and Johann had grown up together and knew each other since they were children, they were shy to try lots of things together.

Just holding hands required lots of courage.

Later on, she went abroad for her studies. With a long–distance relationship, they only saw each other once a year, and they became more distant.

Even kissing was limited to a quick peck on the forehead or cheek. The most intense they had gone was a kiss on the lips, which left them both feeling shy for the whole day.

Johann taught her how to love someone.

However, Carlos taught her how to love herself

They were completely different men. One was a puppy love.

The other one was a mature charismatic man that could teach her and nurture her.

He was mature and calm. He knew what kind of love and life she wanted.

She also felt at ease with him because of his maturity. Carlos‘ intentions were crystal clear; there was never any confusion between love and dislike.

Therefore, she was not worried that he would fall in love with two people at the same time like Johann.

However, would marrying him be the right choice?

She was only twenty years old this year. If she could live to eighty years old, she would have sixty more years in the future.

“Carlos, won’t you get tired of facing the same person for the next 60 years?” she asked curiously.
