Chapter 3
“Yeah, it’s your important day today. Why are you hanging out with us?” The others echoed in unison.
“If you want to leave, go ahead,” the man raised his eyebrows and said callously.
His cold and menacing stare swept through every corner of the room, making everyone’s hair stand on end.
Anyone who met his glare instantly felt the chill down their spine. They didn’t dare speak another word.
Just like that, the group of men wasted a day playing cards until midnight.
Later in the night, Robert had to leave due to another engagement and they had to disperse.
When the man left the bar, Ned was already standing outside waiting with the car at the door.
He stepped forward and greeted respectfully, “Mr. Lawson, I’m here on Rubby’s orders to pick you up.”
The man pursed his lips tightly in obvious unhappiness.
His handsome eyes were filled with a dense chill.
“If I don’t go, what will happen?” he uttered while narrowing his eyes slightly. His icy–cold words appeared a little indifferent and distant, with a faint tinge of viciousness.
“Rubby has instructed me to wait for you no matter what happens or how long you will take,” Ned replied.
“Carlos, go ahead! Why are you torturing Ned? Isn’t it better if you can settle the matter once and for all? We can always come out and have fun again another day!” Robert blurted.
“Settle once and for all.” An emotion fleeted across Carlos‘ face when he heard that.
He quickly regained his composure and finally agreed and got into the car.
Ned also heaved a sigh of relief. He looked at the other three men gratefully and turned to leave.
Soon, the car arrived at the villa. It was pitch–black inside..
Carlos went in alone, and Ned waited outside.
He swiftly walked to the master bedroom. There was no light inside, and he was too lazy to turn it on. He didn’t care what the woman looked like at all.
His heart had been dead for a long time. No one would be able to tug at his heart strings anymore.
He groped his way to the bedside. He lifted the quilt and laid himself on top mechanically.
It felt better than he had imagined.
A strange thought crossed his mind. He wanted to have a taste of her lips and see if they were desirable.
However, he had not touched any woman for many years already.
He frowned slightly and avoided Edith’s mouth.
This was the price of marrying him. She was nothing other than a device responsible for having his child.
All these happened while Edith was still sleeping.
Chapter 3
She dreamed of a furnace, and she was inside.
She struggled to open her eyes, but her eyelids weighed a ton. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open them.
She opened her mouth and called for help awkwardly.
“Johann… save me… save me…”
She cried, tears falling from the corners of her eyes and disappearing into her hair.
Just as Carlos was about to lose control, he suddenly heard her uttering a man’s name. His body could not help but tremble slightly.
“Does this woman have someone she loves?”
All the excitement left him instantly.
He frowned and left the bed. He was not interested in another man’s woman.
He left the villa, looking unkempt. Ned was surprised to see him. “Mr. Lawson is done? Isn’t it a little too fast? Is the rumor about him being impotent.
true?” he wondered to himself.
