Glenn also looked at his hand in disbelief.

He had lost face and was so angry that he slapped Edith without thinking.

However, Glenn’s stubborn pride didn’t allow him to admit his mistake.

He frowned and said coldly, “No matter what, she is your cousin. You should give in to her. Do you know how important this wedding is to the Meyer family? Stop messing around and get out of here.”

“The Davis family is important. Is the Lawson family not important?”

Edith sneered.

Of course, she understood why Glenn valued this wedding so much. It was because the benefits given by the Lawson family were only temporary. She was like a pawn that could make huge profits the moment it was used. Now, she had no value for

Glenn.

Simon was not the eldest son of the Lawson family. He had an elder brother. Furthermore, the current head of the Lawson family was not Simon’s father. Instead, it was Carlos, Simon’s youngest uncle. Simon was destined to lose power in the future.

Simon was just a playboy. He was addicted to having fun and sleeping around. He was hopeless. Glenn had never thought of pleasing the Lawson family. Even if he did so, he would not flatter a powerless person like Simon. Therefore, Edith was useless to Glenn after marrying Simon.

The Davis family was also a big family, well–known in Caurtine. The interests they could give Glenn would be long–lasting, so of course, Glenn had to fawn on them.

Edith knew exactly what Glenn was up to, but what was the point of knowing? What could she change?

She pointed out Glenn’s thoughts, which made him feel a little embarrassed.

Glenn clenched his fists and said unhappily. “What do you mean? I brought you up and gave you what Vanny had. Are you blaming me for being partial now?”

“Could you please tell me why you asked me to marry on Vanessa’s behalf when you knew that I was engaged to Johann? I was back, but you lied to Johann. You wanted him to marry your daughter rather than me, an outsider, right?”

Edith revealed Glenn’s intentions. He instantly felt embarrassed, and his face turned red with anger. Panting heavily, he raised his hand, wanting to slap Edith again.

Edith didn’t expect that Glenn would want to hit her again, so she had no time to dodge. The wind brought by Glenn’s hand was about to blow her check. Edith closed her eyes subconsciously and waited for the slap.

Yet the expected pain did not come. Instead, she heard Glenn’s scream.

Edith quickly opened her eyes and found that Glenn’s hand was caught.

She looked over and was surprised to see Carlos.

Glenn had never seen Carlos before, so Glenn naturally did not know who Carlos was. Seeing that Carlos was young, Glenn thought that Carlos was just a bold and ignorant young man. Glenn scolded, “Who are you to meddle in my family affairs?”

“Your family affairs? I’m afraid not, Carlos raised his eyebrows and said disdainfully.

His arrogant look used to be despised by Edith, but now when she looked at him, she suddenly felt that Carlos was so

handsome.

Edith thought, “Carlos stood up for me? Unbelievable!”

Hearing this, Glenn raised his eyebrows and said unhappily, “What do you mean? Do you think you can interfere in my family affairs? Let go of me, or I’ll call security!”

“You have gotten 200 million dollars from her marriage. And now, she owes you nothing. I am Simon’s uncle. We are of the same generation, right?” Carlos retorted.

Glenn’s eyes widened when he heard this. He pointed at Carlos in disbelief and said in a trembling voice, “You… Carlos?”
