Edith stared at Johann and Vanessa and said word by word, “Wish you a long and happy marriage. Don’t hurt anyone else. I’m really happy that you can torture each other. Vanessa, thank you for helping me. Johann, thank you for not marrying

me.”

Her words were sonorous and forceful, with unprecedented determination.

What did heartache feel like?

Edith couldn’t feel it anymore. She was desperate.

All she could do was keep smiling.

When Johann heard this, his heart trembled violently. He was too ashamed to ask Edith to return to him.

On the other hand, Vanessa was angry. Without thinking, she wanted to hit Edith. However, Carlos came forward.

He just shot a sharp glance at Vanessa, and she didn’t even dare to breathe.

“Do you want to bully my family member in front of me?”

The words “my family member” were particularly powerful.

Vanessa was so furious that she clenched her fists tightly, and her face turned pale. She thought, “Edith’s husband has always ignored her and never shown up to protect her. Why did this extremely powerful man suddenly appear and defend her?

Why was Edith so lucky to meet such a big shot?”

Vanessa was unwilling, but she could only suppress her anger.

Carlos swept his gaze indifferently over them. He looked cold and arrogant as if he was the king. His name was the embodiment of power, and no one dared to provoke Carlos. Even those top families were afraid of him.

He was very scary.

Carlos‘ methods were ruthless. He would fight with his opponents at any cost. No one could withstand it, and no one dared to do the business he had taken a fancy to unless he no longer wanted it.

They might dare to fall out with Simon, but no one dared to go against Carlos‘ wishes.

Vanessa could only watch Edith and Carlos leave, stomping her feet in anger.

She couldn’t accept it, thinking, “I won this competition and stole the man that Edith loves the most. I even made Edith marry a libertine. Yet why do I feel that I lost miserably?”

Vanessa glanced at the dejected Johann and immediately understood.

Even though she married Johann as she wished, Johann still loved Edith. Thus, Vanessa was not the winner.

Vanessa gritted her teeth. “Johann, we’re married. You shouldn’t think about Edith anymore.”

“Shut up. Since you wanted to be my wife so much, I gave you this position. Other than that, you won’t get anything. I will only love Edith from now on.”

Johann suddenly exploded. His pent–up anger finally couldn’t be suppressed and was completely released.

He shook off Vanessa’s hand and turned to leave, ignoring her shouting behind him.

Johann thought, “I can’t make mistakes again and again. This time, I have to become stronger and get back my beloved girl,

no matter what.”

Edith did not return to the banquet. Her original purpose was to destroy the wedding and let everyone see Vanessa’s true colors.

However, when Carlos stood up for Edith, Vanessa was exasperated, and Johann’s face was filled with guilt, Edith cooled

down.

Edith thought, “Since I’ve realized that Johann is not worthy of me, why should I continue to make trouble?

If I do so, it can only prove that I’m a pitiful woman whose fiancé was stolen by her cousin, right?

I attended the wedding on the Lawson family’s behalf. I have chosen to give up. Why should I make them upset?

If they are happy together, it will be good news for me. Only when these two scourges are together, the others would not be harmed.

Therefore, if I continue to make trouble, I will not feel satisfied. I will only make a fool of myself. It is not worth it to lose

face for such a man.”

Edith took a deep breath, looked at Carlos, and said sincerely, “Thank you for helping me, Uncle Carlos. I will definitely treat you to a meal some other day.”

“Isn’t it good to treat me now?” Carlos raised his eyebrows and said.

“Now?” Edith was stunned. “Are you going to leave?”
