Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam -
Chapter 81
Chapter 81
In the end, she sat steadily opposite Vanessa.
The moment Vanessa saw her, a vicious smile appeared on her face. She sneered and said, “What’s wrong? Are you here alone? Why isn’t your so–called boyfriend also attending this important event?”
“Vanessa, what do you want? If you want to play games, just come after me. Why are you being so sarcastic?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll come after you because of Carlos.” Vanessa smiled and called the waiter to order a cup of black coffee.
When the waiter asked Edith, Vanessa said harshly, “She’s not my guest. She’s a freeloader. Just bring my coffee and give her a glass of tap water.”
Hearing this, the waiter gave Edith a strange look.
Edith didn’t come here for coffee, so she wasn’t angry when she heard that.
If these words were enough to defeat her, Vanessa would have won long ago, and Edith wouldn’t have wasted her time arguing with Vanessa here.
Soon, the coffee was served. There was only a glass of lemon water in front of Edith. She was thirsty, so she took a sip.
Vanessa played with the glass and said with a smile, “My purpose is straightforward. I want Johann. That’s all.”
“Then you’ve got what you wanted,” Edith said coldly.
“I don’t just want him in the flesh. I want his heart!”
“Well… You shouldn’t be asking me about that, should you? Work hard yourself. Instead of wasting time on me, you should spend more time on Johann’s preferences.”
“Don’t worry. He’ll belong to me entirely when you disappear from our lives. I’m going to agree with you now. In the future, wherever Johann and I go, you must avoid showing up without me reminding you. Otherwise, the rumors will spread all over the place.”
“Don’t worry. You don’t have to tell me that. I’ll keep it in mind. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving. Such an agreement was exactly what Edith wanted. She didn’t want to have anything to do with Johann either.
It would do good for both of them when the bad romance ended. There was no need to linger.
Johann couldn’t let go, probably because he was unwilling to give up.
Seeing that Edith was hurrying to leave, Vanessa couldn’t help raising her eyebrows. “Why are you in such a rush? Aren’t you curious about why I hate you so much and fight with you for everything? Have you ever thought it’s not because of Johann but because of something else?”
Vanessa made it sound somewhat ambiguous, and her tone was filled with strong hatred when she asked the last question.
The question successfully stopped Edith from leaving.
Edith was also very curious about why Vanessa hated her so much. If it weren’t for Johann, what else could it be?
“Why?” Edith asked with a frown. She also wanted to know the reason.
When Vanessa heard this, there was a vicious glint in her eyes, wholly inconsistent with her gentle demeanor.
“Because of your mother. Do you know why my mother died? It was all your mother’s fault. My mother was mentally and physically exhausted when she was pregnant and suffered post–pregnancy depression. Your mother was the real murderer!*
Edith’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“You… What are you talking about? My mother and yours are biological sisters. They are twins. They married on the same day and got pregnant around the same time. You’re making things up!”
“Making things up? Your mother is a slut, and so are you! Do you know what sluts do? You people can never stop sleeping
around!”
Vanessa deliberately lowered her voice, not wanting the people around her to hear it, but it couldn’t suppress the hatred in
her tone.
Her hatred surged like a raging river.
Hearing this, Edith’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t help but frown and ask, “What do you mean?”
