Chapter 97

Her voice was sonorous and powerful, and she exuded such terrifying power.

Everyone in the booth was so scared that they couldn’t speak. Vanessa was so angry that her face turned red. Edith had held her chin tightly in her hand, and Vanessa couldn’t move at all.

Edith didn’t stop there. She had suffered so much. If it weren’t for Carlos‘ help, she would have bitten her tongue and committed suicide.

She was almost dead. How could she let it go so easily?

She increased the strength of her grip, and Vanessa struggled to pull her hand away. Vanessa’s nails dug deeply into Edith’s flesh, but Edith didn’t seem to feel the pain at all.

Vanessa couldn’t get rid of Edith’s hand at all.

Vanessa had been spoiled since she was a child, like a flower in a greenhouse. She had never done a day of hard work. However, it was different for Edith. She was just an adopted daughter who received financial aid from the Meyer family. She had to be cautious and live a hard life. She had to do everything by herself. During her four years studying abroad, she took care of everything herself, so how could Vanessa’s strength compare with hers?

“You… Let go of me… You’re hurting me.”

Vanessa hemmed and hawed in pain.

Edith said coldly. “You haven’t promised me that you won’t make trouble for me in the future!”

“In your dreams…”

“Is that so?” Edith asked coldly. Just as she was about to teach Vanessa a lesson, a strong force suddenly came from behind her.

She was yanked backward. Before she could see who it was, she was slapped hard on the cheek.

The slap was very loud and powerful. Her face was tilted to one side and became red and swollen as one watched.

The corner of her mouth burned with pain, and even a trace of blood oozed out.

She stared blankly at the bright red drop on the ground and turned to look at the person in disbelief.

The person who slapped her was none other than Johann.

Johann also looked at his trembling hand. He didn’t expect he would hit Edith in a moment of desperation!

He panicked and wanted to grab Edith’s hand to apologize.

“Edith… I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you. I only saw someone bullying Vanny. I didn’t expect it to be you…”

Before he could touch Edith, she avoided his hand with a frown. She looked disgusted as if she had seen a fly.

She looked at him coldly. “We’ve known each other for 18 years and have been in a relationship once, haven’t we? You’re telling me you can’t recognize me from behind.”

“I… I was too angry. After all, Vanny is my wife! Besides, it was kind of your fault. You’re her cousin. No man can stand you bullying her in public!”

Johann tried his best to defend himself.

Vanessa also started acting. She stepped forward and cried, grabbing his sleeve tightly.

Johann, you’re finally here. If you hadn’t come, I would have been beaten to death by Edith!”

When Johann heard this, he couldn’t help but frown slightly. After all, Vanessa was his wife then, and everything she did represented his dignity. Edith had gone too far when she did that in public!

As he thought like this, the guilt of slapping Edith faded a lot.

Edith couldn’t help but laugh when she heard the couple echo each other as if they were performing a duet.

That laughter was filled with grief, ridicule, and madness!

“Do you know what your wife did to me?”

“What could Vanny do to you? Edith, don’t be unreasonable, okay? Let’s talk outside.”

He grabbed Edith’s hand and tried to take her away, but she shook him off.

Edith rolled up her sleeve, revealing the bright red whip mark, and said coldly. “This is what your good wife did to me!”
