Chapter 104

Cora's POV

"Collin, I am not ready to take them home. I only have their beds made up and the changing tables ready. My baby shower was supposed to be next weekend and I was going to see what I would get before I made any purchases. I don't know what to do; we will need baby wipes, diapers, baby powder, baby shampoo, baby tub, I am just not prepared for them to come home, and I am starting to panic", I told him and tried to stay calm. I am a planner and I feel better when I know what is going on and how things will go. I was only going to spend my money on what I didn't get from my family and friends.

"It will be OK, Cora, you know we can bring it to you as soon as you get home. Both mom and I have got your stuff. Iris, Livi, Nicolas, Dalton, Mateo and Ella, Franco, and Eric, even the guys at the firehouse have gotten your stuff. I will let them know when you get home and as soon as you are up to it, we can all get it over. We have your back and I think that you will be surprised at what we have done", Ava tells us while she is still lying on the couch, texting on her phone.

"Thank you, Ava, for reminding me I was just panicking because I can't go out and do it myself. I feel fine, but they want me to stay to make sure there are no problems, and I like how the nurses give me tips every time they come. I just panicked because I had no diapers or wipes, as that is the usual gift given, and you go through a lot of them, and we will be going through double with the twins. I just don't want to mess anything up for them, I want them to have what they need to be taken care of properly. I want to be a good mother to them", I told her.

"Cora, you are going to be a great mom. You just delivered late last night, and you are already excelling at it. You know how to breasts with twins, so one doesn't get bigger than the other, you are getting them into position by yourself already. You are already so protective and nurturing and were while you were pregnant too. You are more concerned about their well-being than yours. Give yourself a break, things are about to be hectic enough around here without overthinking or putting added pressure on yourself. Love them, bathe them, clothe them, change their diaper regularly, and you will have this down pat. You have got this momma", Ava tells me and smiles over at me.

Collin put his arm around me and said, "Cora, you are already an amazing mom. Stop putting this pressure on yourself and relax a little. We already have enough going on with the court case coming up. You will need to stay calm and just take things one day at a time. We will get through this together" Collin tells me and pulls me into his side with his good arm and kisses the top of my head. "I asked Nicolas to stop and grab me some clothes on his way here. I will use your shower while they are here checking on the babies. I can help you shower too, baby" Collin tells me and then makes me laugh by wiggling his eyebrows. He knows we can't have s*x, but his teasing me makes me laugh and my stressful moment passes.

I heard a knock on the door and called out for them to come in. The room is full of noise when my parents, and his parents, enter with flowers and balloons, which they promptly put down and go to pick up the babies. Ava sits up and excuses herself to go take a shower in my bathroom and get dressed for the day. Collin needs help with one of his arms being bandaged and not able to move properly, and I realize I may very well have to help him get his hair and body washed.

After an hour, my dad and Alderidge go to get coffees for everyone, while I feed the babies. I get a small coffee too, as I can have one now, just not a large one. I have missed coffee for the last 5 months. The babies are now pros at this at only 12 hours old and they drink more each and every time I feed them. They have now been burped, changed, and super content now as they are full and ready to be passed around again.

Ava mentions my stress at not being ready for the babies to come home due to the diaper situation, and the clothes not ready or washed yet. Marlowe tells me, "Do not worry Cora, I will bring them each an outfit that is already washed for them to go home tomorrow. We can bring the Tahoe and bring all their stuff over tomorrow". All their stuff? How much is that? What did Marlowe and Aldridge buy that they needed to bring in the SUV?

"I should be released from the hospital tomorrow, but I will ask my doctor when she comes by to check on me today to make sure. I am hoping to be able to leave around noon tomorrow", I told them.

They all leave before it comes time for me to feed the babies again, and the room settles down to being quiet again as Collin sits next to me and uses his good arm to balance Adam for me and I cradle Abi in my left arm as I changed their positions from the last feeding. Ava is smiling over at us and takes a stealthy picture, as the babies have my breasts covered and you can't see anything revealing from her angle. I hear my phone ping and I nod at her that I will look at it when I am done feeding them. Abi finishes first, as usual, and Ava comes over to get her so she can burp her for me while Adam finishes. Collin hands me my phone and when I look at the picture, it takes my breath away. Collin's expression of love is clear to see in the picture. He is a proud father, and he loves all three of us. It is a wonderful picture of him looking down adoringly at me feeding the babies, and I make it my wallpaper right then, and save it to my phone.

At 2 pm our group shows up; Nicolas and Livi, Dalton and Iris, Franco and Eric, Mateo and Ella, and Jacob and Adam show up to check on us. Everyone takes turns making cute little sounds at them and admiring how cute they are. Livi asked what we named them, and I let Collin tell them. We introduced baby Abi first, and then baby Adam, and I saw Adam's eyebrows shoot up as he looked at both of us. We filled everyone in on what had happened, with Ava starting to tear up, even though she knew already. Everyone was silent for a moment to take that information in, and baby Adam was passed over to look at his namesake. Baby Adam took that opportunity to look his namesake in his eyes with a serious expression on his face, and then the moment was gone when a fart sounded from baby Adam's diaper, and we all laughed, knowing what was so serious to baby Adam a moment ago.

"I am going to let the nurse take this one," Ava told us, and we all laughed a little more.

I showed Iris, Livi, and Ella the picture that Ava took, while Ava was talking to Jacob on the couch and they all said that they were so happy for us, and then Livi added, "And I am happy that he got his head out of his a$$". Livi was always direct with her words. We all nodded in response to her comment, with me the most thankful of all.

I heard Collin telling Dalton to contact his realtor friend because he needed to get his apartment on the market. He said he never wanted to go back there and would just go back one time to get his clothes and personal items out of it, and that he would sell it fully furnished because he wanted nothing to do with it ever again. I was wondering where he was going to live when Nicolas asked that question.

"I am going to live with Cora and our babies" Collin replied back. I looked over at him in surprise and said, "I will have to ask my parents, I can't just do that, Collin. It isn't my house to just invite people to live in".

"Baby, I already asked your parents earlier when you went to use the restroom. My mom and dad had said I could stay with them while you and I look for a house for us, but I want to be with you and our babies. Your parents were fine with it. I am off for the next two months for us to all bond, and I am hoping that my sling will be off in a week or two so I can hold them both at the same time, as long as I don't have any permanent damage to my arm", Collin told me.

I didn't know if this was going to go well or not, but I do know that I love him and am going to give this a chance to work for us all. My doctor came in and everyone, except Collin, stepped into the hallway while the doctor checked me out. Everything was looking good, so the doctor was going to let me go home tomorrow. She checked on the babies and commented on how cute they already were, and then looked at us and said, "They have very good genetics" and smiled at us both before leaving the room. Everyone poured back into the room until it was time for the babies to be fed again. Collin stepped out with the guys to go down to get something to eat from the cafeteria and grab me something to snack on too, before he came back up, as the hospital food wasn't very tasty.

Ava helped me get the babies into position and I got them attached quicker than usual and the babies ate while we all talked. Iris, Livi, and Ella were all very excited about Collin's change and told me that they could see a huge difference in him from last year. They went on to say that they thought that I was a really positive influence on him and that they were so happy for us both.

Livi told me that Maddie's lawyer, who was a flashy lawyer and took it because of the publicity it would garner, had already put in for an insanity plea. She is not insane; she is just mean and vindictive.

"Nicolas is better than I thought", Livi tells us and then blushes, before she continues, "He had Collin install a camera in his living room with a remote. Maddie is on record saying that she knows what she is doing is wrong, but that she is doing it for financial gain. She is on record saying this several times. That shows right there that she knows right from wrong, and she cannot plead out for insanity. I think once her lawyer sees all that we actually have on her, he will quit. She has no money, so she would end up getting a court-ordered attorney. All they can do is try to drag it out, but she will be in prison while she tries to get around it. I have seen the evidence and Nicolas is very good, she won't be out of prison for a very long time" and then bumps Iris in the shoulder for going "OOOHHHH" when she said Nicolas was very good the second time. The guys come back from the cafeteria, and everyone pairs back up, and I am so happy looking around the room at everyone. Collin brought me back some hot fries and ketchup, and I was happy. Nicolas told me that Collin charmed the lady behind the counter into making fresh fries for him to bring to me, and I smiled and shook my head at him, but I appreciated getting the fresh fries. Each couple is very happy, and I saw that Dalton had Iris sitting on his lap, and Nicolas had put Livi on his lap, and when Collin spoke up and said, "You know that there is room on the couch, right, for them to have their own seat".

Nicolas immediately said, "We are both very comfortable, thank you. You mind your own business" and started rubbing Livi's back in an up and down motion, she snuggled in closer to him, and then laid her head on his shoulder, and grinned at me. Dalton nodded in agreement, and Iris winked at me, before bending over to give Dalton a kiss.
