Collins POV

I couldn't help myself. I needed to see Cora, but seeing her so sad just got me more upset. I miss her and it has just been over 24 hours, but it feels like a month to me.

Maddie told me last night that she didn't just want us back together, she wanted us to get married. I told her I needed time when I spoke to her on my phone, and she went crazy with me. I had my brother and Nicolas both recording the conversation last night on their cell phones, and they got the incoming number and that it was saved by her name in the call. Michael and Nicolas both told me that as long as I knew it was being recorded, it was legal to record her as far as the laws go in New York City. I had her talking for at least 10 minutes while they listened to us talk, and I got her to say this towards the end. "You ARE going to get me a ring, Collin. I don't care what you want to do. I will give you 30 days, Collin, and then we will be engaged, and yes, we are going to be having s*x again. As a matter of fact, we can have s*x in your office again. I will leave the door unlocked just to see if your little Cora will come in again, but I bet she won't. She was literally stunned when she came in the last time. I can wait for a little while, but you and I will be having s*x again and soon, we will be a normal couple. You are going to do what I ask you to do, or you and your family are going to be ruined, and very publicly. Your company won't survive it. Most of your clients are very conservative and won't like what you are on video doing. So, you need to think long and hard about what you want, Collin. Because I have thought long and hard about it, and you either pick me, by deciding to marry me. Or, you can have Cora, and watch while your family business is completely destroyed, and we can both watch as it crumbles and falls. It really is quite simple, and totally your choice. I will also need a whole new wardrobe to go with my new position as your soon-to-be wife. I know you will want me to look beautiful for you, baby!" Maddie said to me, and I was so stunned I couldn't reply to her for about a minute. She is crazy. I can't believe that I didn't see it sooner. She is now on tape trying to extort me, so that is a good start. I had called Thomas Grady, my investigator, like dad, had told me too. He used to work as a detective for New York before he went to the private sector, and he still has connections. He already went into the police station with me today to make a report. Then I showed him Cora and her home when she came back from brunch. I am glad that Cora is eating. I remember how badly she got over losing Michael, and she will be crushed when she finally figures out what is going on with me. My sister, Ava, stopped speaking to me last night when she found out that Maddie and I were getting back together again. She expected other news, and I bet Cora had told her that we were together now earlier in the day, and then I said I was back with Maddie. That is going to make Ava even madder at me. She was really very angry, and Michael said he would talk to her, but I told him to wait. That we would sort it all out together after Maggie is no longer a threat to anyone. I will be playing along with her until this has been taken care of. I will not allow her to hurt Cora. My mother is furious and also taking it out on dad as well because he isn't condemning me for going back to Maddie. Nicolas had already reached out to his friend in the FBI, and they will both be coming into my office at 10 am tomorrow for me to make my report and also to see about getting Maddie's cell phone tapped as well so they can prove it was her sending the calls and texts. It will help in court. We need to get her on multiple counts on this.

I sighed and started my car and drove to drop Thomas back off at his vehicle. Thomas is going to be looking into Cora and making sure that she is safe, as I really don't trust Maddie, she has shown me that she is not balanced. I am looking forward to at least getting to see her tomorrow in the office. I know it will be hard, but Cora is really tough, and she has gone through hard with me before. I will tell her what happened with Maddie when we get her arrested and taken care of and out of our lives. If Cora loves me, then she will be able to forgive me for what happened. I didn't do this deliberately. I would never risk our love or my family's business.

I get to the office 10 minutes early so I can quickly talk to Cora and tell her not to give up on me, no matter what she hears. I stride out of the elevator and Cora isn't there. Catherine is, and she looks mad. This cannot be good for me. I hear another ping of the elevator arriving and see Maddie come wandering out and give Catherine a look before she asks, "Where did the little mouse go?"

"If you are referring to Cora, she took another job. She won't be back" Catherine tells Maddie, but then looks at me. How could she have another job so fast? That was impossible. Who is she working for?

I walk into my office and open my blinds. Maddie walks right in behind me and shuts them. I looked at her with an arched eyebrow, questioning why she would shut them.

"It makes it a more intimate setting, baby," Maddie said, before sitting down on the couch and getting on her phone.

I texted Nicolas and told him that Maddie was there and not going to leave and he said that he would handle it. At ten, I heard a knock on my door, and I called out "Come in". Catherine steps in to announce Nicolas with his friend's name not mentioned. The friend is in a nice Armani suit and enters behind Nicolas, and I could not tell that he was an FBI Agent.

"Hey Maddie, could you step out for like 10 to 15 minutes, my friend is wanting to get some investments done and I was going to pick Collin's brain, really quick. You can have him back in a little while if you want to. I can pay for some coffees for us all downstairs since you are being nice to let us borrow Collin". Nicolas gets $40 out of his wallet and they both tell her what they want, but we all know that she won't be bringing them any coffee back with her, it is beneath her. But Nicolas wanted to get rid of her and he just bought us at least 20 minutes, so we got to work. I gave my sworn statement to the Agent that I only knew as Jack and showed him my phone and allowed them to tap it. A tap will also be put onto Maddie's phone so they can also track her movements, and all her incoming and outgoing, texts and phone calls. I stepped to my door and told Catherine to be sure to come and knock on my door to announce Maddie when she returned, with Catherine giving me a weird expression, but nodding in agreement.

I told them that I had gone to the police station yesterday and filed a report with them as well. The Agent told me that the Sexploitation, blackmail, and extortion charges would be coming from the FBI and that I could also explore other charges with the police for her taking pictures of me and filming me without my consent. I am going to pursue both federal and state charges on this and try to get her the legal limit for every single one of the charges.

We get done and I walk them to the door. I heard a knock and I opened the door to let them out into Catherine's area. Maddie was standing there behind Catherine wanting to come in, so I held the door open further so she could come into the office. "Thanks for the help, Collin, I will see if your suggestions pan out for me," Jack tells me.

"Yes, thanks for the help, Collin, I appreciate you helping my friend," Nicolas said, then nodded at Maddie before walking away with the Agent.

"Did you not get them a coffee with Nicolas' money, Maddie?" I asked her.

"Nicolas and his friend can get some coffee on their way out, Collin, it is in the lobby, they will pass right by it. It wouldn't be a problem for Nicolas, he makes a lot of money, plus his friend had an Armani suit on, he isn't hurting for money either" Maddie said as she plopped back down on the couch and started pulling fashion magazines out of her purse. I see where Nicolas' money went now. I see the big picture now. I wish I had seen it earlier. Maddie is a user, a taker, and a manipulator. Cora is a giver and cares for others. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Well, at least Maddie didn't suspect anything, and it was solely based on the Armani suit he wore to my office.

I prayed this is over quickly, but Jack warned me that they had to get a pile of evidence in cases like these. I don't know why, but you have to show several occasions of it happening, and to get her out of my life I am willing to do it, but at what cost? I know this is my T fault. But I cannot help but wonder if Cora is going to take me back after we get this sorted out or not. Cora has a big heart, but if I have crushed it by doing what Maddie wants me to, will I be able to get to let her see why I HAD to do this while we get the charges up and running against Maddie. I don't want her getting out in 10 years. I want her to get 100 years for all her charges. I never want to worry about Maddie coming after Cora, or me again. I want Cora and my future children safe from Maddie, so to do that I will play the game.
