Chapter 70

Collins POV

I am hearing my stuff being thrown around my living room. I came out of my room to see what in the hell Maddie was doing in there. Two of my lamps have been thrown and broken and she is now throwing all the decorations that she can pick up around in her fit of "What the hell are you doing, Maddie?" I asked her.

"Your stupid slut is messing everything up for me," Maddie said, and then threw the remote that she had in her hand across the room. "What are you talking about Maddie?" I asked her, truly confused at what she was saying.

"Mateo, his fiancé, and Cora are all having a press conference after the fashion show that was covered by two stations and had a big turnout. Mateo read off a statement from his lawyer that said that they were going to sue me for defamation and slander and that Cora was suing me for that too, as well as assault and the assault of her father" Maddie told me, and I had to turn so she wouldn't see the smile that came to my face.

"I haven't heard anything about this at all," I tell her, and she motions to the TV and tells me, "It is going on now, live. I worked too hard at this for them to just turn it all back around on me" Maddie told me.

"I turned towards the TV in time to hear a reporter ask Cora, "if she still had feelings for me" and I held my breath to hear what she said, with my heart breaking in the next minute as she finished speaking. She is moving on without me. This is all Maddie's fault. Cora got her heartbroken because of what Maddie did. Well, and of course, I had a part in it, but it was Maddie's greed that basically caused this. If only I had listened to my mom when she told me to cut Maddie loose, and now look. It is a complete mess. I have to sit down as the wind has been knocked completely out of me and I feel like I have been punched super hard. I cannot believe how my life has changed from me being the happiest that I have ever been in my life when I was coming back from Paris, to now, where my life is truly a train wreck and I don't want to live it anymore if Cora isn't in it.

To hell with Maddie and her threats, I need to meet right now with my father and the guys, because I truly need this to be over with right now, to hell with the cost to the company. If I have to, I will let her have 20 years and we can revisit it when Maddie gets out. Because I will be damned if I allow Cora to go out and date another man. She is mine. I will not share her, because she belongs to me.

"I am going out," I told Maddie and moved to the door, but she probably didn't hear me, as I was hearing glasses hit the floor in the kitchen. She had better clean it up because I am not paying someone to do it. She needs to learn that her life isn't going to be the one that she thinks she signed up for.

When I got to the car, I texted Michael, Nicolas, and Dalton and told them to meet me at mom and dad's house at 330, as it is 245 right now, and I drove to their house. My mind is going a thousand miles an hour and I don't know what to do. I need help and I feel like I am going to break down soon. I don't know how to fix this, and I need it to be fixed. I pull up at mom and dad's house and I see Michael pulling in behind me. I go up and hug him, because I really need some comfort now, as I have single-handedly ruined my life because I was being a greedy bastard. Mom came out as she saw me and Michael in the driveway, and she was coming to check on us. I saw her coming and went to her to hug her too and I tear up. I have ruined everything, and I see no way to fix it. I didn't let them fall, but mom knew how upset I was and held me tight until I felt better. We go into the house, and Michael and I head to dad's office, while we wait for Nicolas and Dalton.

Dad was on the phone and so we waited until he was off to greet him. Nicolas and Dalton knocked on the door before entering and greeting everyone.

"We need to replace a way to get this done. I am ok with Maddie just getting 20 years. We can come back and revisit it at that point, but I need her gone, out of my life, I cannot take it anymore", I told them and started to get upset again. "We were just there after the show and saw the press conference. They are gunning for Maddie, and Cora's friend Livi told me to tell you not to try to stop with your money, to let her have to pay for it all on her own", Nicolas told me. "She doesn't have any money, that is why she is blackmailing me, and sponging off of me. She doesn't have anything, she has burned bridges, and she is at the end of her savings now", I told them.

"Well, from what we just heard, she will never have any money again. As in answer to the rumors that she started by sending those reporters who ended up attacking Cora, no one in their right mind will ever hire her again. She has made burning bridges an art form now, and Livi is good. I would hire her for my firm, but she wouldn't do it, as she is loyal to Cora and would be staying on her team as she gave me a warning as well today". Nicolas stopped speaking as Dalton had hit him with his elbow.

"What did she warn you about?" I asked him, and he looked a little nervous and looked towards my dad.

"We are going to have to tell him Nicolas, he has rights as well, and I knew she didn't want him to know, but he is right. We need to get this stopped, and right now. This has been too much for her and lives are at stake if it gets too much more out of hand, and Collin needs to be prepared to act. I am going to bring your mother in on this, as she may have a perspective that we haven't considered yet. Plus, she suspects what is going on, and I got a big surprise the other day as I found out something that was being kept from me, by your mother, because she was angry at me for not including her in this. Let me call her in here and we will work on this problem together", Dad said and called mom on her cell phone to come to his office.

We all heard a knock on the door and watched mom enter. She looks around the room at all the serious faces and said, "Oh, you are going to tell me what is going on now?"

"Yes, please sit down, this is going to take a little bit," Dad says, and she takes a seat to listen to what all has been happening.

"I knew it, I freaking knew it. I told you to cut that horrible girl loose, that she couldn't be trusted, and now look at where we are. I could have lost my grand babies over the actions of that stupid girl" my mother said, and then put her hand to her mouth. "What did you just say, mom?" I asked her carefully.

I saw Nicolas, Dalton, and Michael all get up from their seats, and move towards the door, to keep me from leaving, but the way I am feeling, they will not be able to stop me.

"Are you telling me that Cora is pregnant with my baby? Wait did you say, babies?" I asked her again and I saw my parents look at each other and then look back at me.

"Yes, we found out that Cora was pregnant after she went to the hospital after Maddie sent those reporters to her house and she got attacked. She didn't know either and she was stunned as well. So, we need to get this over and done with so you can try to win Cora back. She is very upset, and I don't know if you will have an easy road ahead of you. She feels like you and Maddie set this up to prey on her, and then got back together again after you got back. She feels betrayed and hurt, and I can see why she feels like that. You have been nothing but ugly to her, over and over, and because she loved you, she took it. But there comes a point where you fall out of love when it becomes too costly a price. She will not let Maddie have access to the children, so if you want to be with her, you need this to end quickly. I know none of you want a scandal for business. But we need to replace a way to push Maddie for her to get a big reaction so that she takes a big risk. You said that she was destroying your apartment because she was angry. Maybe she needs to replace out that Cora is pregnant with your children now" Mom said to us.

"I will not risk Cora's life or the life of my children for any reason, mom," I told her.

"Honey, no one wants the babies to be OK more than me. I have been praying for grandchildren for years now, and I love Cora, I want nothing to happen to her. No, her phone is tapped, right?" mom asked us.

"Yes, it is, outgoing and incoming calls and texts," I tell her and Nicolas nods in agreement.

I will speak to Cora, she needs to know what is happening as well, just like you told me. Let me go talk to Ava and see if she will bring Cora here, or Thomas could, or he could bring them both. We all need to be on the same page right now. Maddie had pulled the strings long enough. We need to start pulling some too. We don't have to let your FBI friend know that we are letting Maddie know that Cora is pregnant. Just give him a tip to start listening in, as Maddie somehow found out Cora was pregnant and might try to hurt her" mom said as she got up with her phone and, exited the room, making the calls. I look over at Nicolas and Dalton and ask them "When did you replace out Cora was pregnant?"

"We just found out after the fashion show today, Collin, we didn't know she was pregnant an hour ago," Nicolas told me.

"Yes, I felt her baby bump when she hugged us and but when I went to touch her stomach to make sure it was her and not clothing or something, Thomas stopped me," Dalton said to me.

"Yes, as soon as I found out that Cora was pregnant with my grandbabies, I made sure that anytime she left Ava's apartment that Thomas was with her. We can get some of his friends to help us with her security if your mom is really planning to let Maddie know that Cora is pregnant. That really will set her off. We will not gamble on your children, Collin. They are my grandchildren and I already love them. Do you want to know what the twins are?" My dad said to me and then smiled at me.

"Yes, I do, you already know?" I asked.

"Yes, you will have a boy and a girl, Collin," my dad told me.

I take a deep breath and try to calm my nerves. I am going to be a father. I am not ready. How is Cora feeling? I guess she is ok since she did the show today. How did no one notice that she was 5 months pregnant with twins? I then remember seeing her on the TV and I never noticed that she was pregnant either, but again I wasn't looking for her to be pregnant. I will need a bigger place for us and my children. I need to help Cora as I know now that she was helping her parents with the house payments, and had student debt, and now our children are coming. I start making plans for my future and pray that Cora gives me an opportunity to be in hers.
