Falling For My Playboy Boss -
Chapter 80
Cora's POV
Thomas and I get to Eurazeo for the training, and I stop by Security to see if I need a badge made up. I saw Gabriel coming from my left and glanced over at him. He already has lanyards made up for both me and Thomas and two NDA forms for each of us as well too, as he knows Thomas will be going where I go. We signed the forms and followed Gabriel to a conference room on the second floor, where I saw 4 men and 1 woman in the room. They are all looking at me with interest and I see the woman make a comment before we cross the main part of the room, and all the men stop looking at my face and look at my pregnant stomach. So, I see we have all been introduced, and I know who the problem child is probably going to be from the start. I try not to roll my eyes, as she is clearly a few years older than me, and probably doesn't want to learn from someone she considers to be her junior.
"Gabriel, I was wondering if you would mind sitting in for at least the first 10 minutes as I was going to make a suggestion to them all about what I wanted to do with the training," I told Gabriel.
"Sure, as a matter of fact, when I could, I was going to come and watch the training myself to learn as well as my schedule allows," Gabriel told me, and then walked in first and held the door for me and Thomas to enter. I went to stand next to Gabriel at the table and Thomas went and found a seat near where I would sit at the head of the table.
"I would like to introduce Cora Bowers from Lauder Financial in New York City. Cora does an exceptional job with her accounts and single-handedly takes care of the toughest cases by herself with innovative and creative thinking. She looks outside of the box to go above and beyond to make sure her clients are happy and satisfied with how their investments are handled. Cora, these are my best people, and they will train the others how you train them. I would like you all to pay attention to what Cora tells you. She is very good at her job even though she is young. I want you all to give her the respect that she is due by coming here as a favor to me, to assist us with learning our craft better. Cora, I will start on the left. These are Morgan Laurent, Paul Dupont, Andre Garnier, Claude Martin, and Camille Monet", Gabriel said to me.
Morgan was an attractive young man, around my age, with a slim build, dark hair and blue eyes, and a ready smile. Paul was around 30 and appeared to be easy-going and friendly. His brown eyes twinkled in amusement at me and he had an easy smile. He had brown hair as well and was in good shape. Andre was cocky, he was an attractive male and he was aware of it. His black hair was styled perfectly and his grey eyes had both light and dark grey in them. He had a strong jaw and was giving me flirty looks already, even though he knew I was pregnant. He was an obvious player, and I wasn't interested. Claude was next and he appeared to be taking this the most seriously. He seemed to be around 28 and had a notebook and pens to take notes from me. He was obviously the one who would be getting the most out of this training and was looking intently at me. He had blonde hair and deep blue eyes and obviously took care of himself. Camille was the last person at the table with her bleached platinum blonde hair and blue eyes. She was very attractive. She had a good figure and looked to be around 32 years old. She was already acting dismissive of me and obviously flirting with Andre before she noticed us walking up. Three of the four are watching me smiling. Andre is checking me out and Camille is on her phone to show me that she is not going to be listening to what I say at all during this training, and I already know that my work is going to be cut out for me.
"Hello, everyone, please feel free to call me Cora. I am excited to be here as I love talking about finance. This is my first time training anyone, so if you have questions about why I am doing this a certain way, or what I am doing, please feel free to ask. I am excited to be here as I love replaceing creative solutions for clients that aren't cookie-cutter and are looking for something specific, even if they themselves don't know what it is that they are after or want just yet. I wanted to use these first four days together learning, and then next week I was going to have you each schedule your most difficult client needed to be assigned and I will try to assist you in helping you get them into the right investment for them. Do any of you have questions for me?" I asked them.
"Are we supposed to meet our clients up here? Or at their homes?" Claude asked me.
"I do not go to my client's homes; I meet them at a restaurant for us to discuss business. I usually do lunch, as I don't want to mix finance when drinks are involved. I want everything I do to be above board, and not come back on me in any way. I don't want them to forget what choices they made or which investments they decided on during our meetings.
"I don't know what we could possibly learn from you, what are you 21 years old? Camille asks me and smirks at me.
"I will soon be 25. I assure you I have an MBA and am an excellent Accounts Manager. I respect and listen to my clients. But if you are not willing to learn, there really is no purpose in you being here. This only works if you care about learning to improve how you interact with your clients, and making their investments grow", I told her with an arched eyebrow.
"All of my clients are satisfied with their interactions with me" Camille replied and rolled her eyes. I hear one of the men mumble something to the man sitting to his left and they both smile about it; I am assuming her methods for her sales may not be the best. "How much are their investments earning them? Who is your best client? How much is their money earning them?" I asked Camille.
"I am sorry, that is privileged information, over your access level here, so I won't be answering that question", Camille advised me.
"Actually, it isn't. I signed an NDA. I would be interested in what your best client is earning. Please go get their folder and let me look at it, or your hardest case that you would like help with. I am here to help. I would suggest you take the opportunity to learn from me while I am here. I will only be here this week and next week, so let's not waste any more time, or you can just leave", I told Camille.
"I don't need help from someone who is younger than me, plus I don't know or trust you. You could try to take clients away from me, so I won't be showing you any of my client's information", Camille says to me and leans back into her chair, smiling at me. "Your call. I can only make you stronger. You can leave, I won't keep you here Camille", I told her with a smile on my face.
"No, I can stay, you never know you may say something that I don't already know," Camille said to me. I see Gabriel give her a hard look, and she realizes that everything she was saying to me, her big boss heard. It didn't make her look good.
As I said, I would like to teach and walk you through my process, so when we meet up with your clients you can take the lead and conduct the process yourself. I will only interject if I feel like it needs to be asked and you will have that information for your next client when you see how it ends up helping you get your client into an investment or opportunity that they truly love. That is how you make more money. When they love what you did for them, they WILL refer you to others. So have faith and learn the process. Your profit margins can always be better, which increases the money your company makes and gets you even more clients. It works for me and now I, even being one of the newest account managers, am also considered to be one of the best account managers they have there right now. Don't just go for the easy or obvious answers, you need to delve in by asking leading questions, that get you and your client where you need to be. You will only end up being more successful in the end because of it", I told the group. I took my light jacket off and sat in my chair at the head of the table and started the training. Gabriel stayed in there for the first hour and I saw he was nodding approvingly as I spoke. He had to leave to conduct business, but he came back about 10 minutes before our lunch break to listen again. I noticed that Morgan and Paul were also taking the training seriously now because, after our first 15-minute bathroom break, I noticed that when they returned, they also had notebooks and pens with them and asked me a few follow-up questions before the rest of the group returned. Andre and Camille were my only problem children. The rest of the men actually wanted to learn. Gabriel ate lunch with me, Thomas, and Marc, and Marc was very surprised by my stomach. I shrugged and told him that "A lot can change in 6 months" and continued to eat. Lunch was pleasant and Thomas and I headed back to the room. I saw Camille with her back to the door and talking to Andre. I heard her say, "I heard she got knocked up by her boss when I called my friend who lives in New York. They didn't have a name, but she probably doesn't even know who the father is. I bet she sleeps with all her clients".
"You would be wrong Camille, I know who my babies' father is, and it is NONE of your business. If you put more effort into learning and doing your job, I am sure your numbers would be higher", I told her as she gasped in surprise and swung around towards me.
