Chapter 91

Cora's POV

I texted Mateo to see if he could meet us at the Lauder's home tomorrow at noon. He asked if Ella could come with him, and I told him that it was fine. Mateo also told me that he would be getting my measurements for my maid of honor dress, and I smiled because their wedding was coming soon, and I was really looking forward to seeing them get married. They are so cute together and I am so glad that I kind of pushed them to date, and got them to know each other better because they truly are perfect for each other. I went to the kitchen and saw Ava smiling at her phone and asked her who she was texting, and I already knew it was Jacob, one of the firemen from my "fan" club. Ava blushed and told me "Jacob". I grin and tell her how cute he is as I grab a bottle of water from the fridge.

I sat down next to her and asked, "Do you think that Collin would like to come to my checkup this Wednesday? They will be doing another ultrasound and he can see the babies. I was going to ask him tomorrow when we meet at your parent's house". "I think he would love that. I know mom has mentioned that he has been really upset about missing out on so many things about the pregnancy. I think that he wanted to go to all of the appointments but couldn't because of Maddie. I can let him go this time", Ava said to me.

"I don't know how he will get away from her to be able to go, but he has a few days to figure it out. I will mention it to him tomorrow at noon. Then I headed off to bed to grab some extra sleep tonight, as I was exhausted from the trip.

I woke up at 8 am and I felt really good today. Ava and I made breakfast and at 1130 Thomas picked us up to take us to Ava's parent's house. I was excited about getting to see Collin again, and I was also excited to hear what the plan was. Collin seemed like he thought it would work, and I hoped it would too. We went inside and I smelled food and headed to the kitchen. I saw Marlowe had cooked lunch for everyone and I brewed a cup of tea, as I couldn't have coffee. Marlowe motioned to a barstool for me to sit down while I waited for the hot water to boil.

Collin comes into the kitchen and heads straight for me and kisses the top of my head. I wanted to go ahead and ask him before we got busy, so I said, "Collin, I have my next ultrasound this Wednesday. Would you like to go with me to see the babies?" "Yes, I don't know how I will get away from Maddie, but I will tell her I have a meeting and then just sneak out. Text me the time and place and I will be there. I would love to see my babies", Collin tells me.

"Cora, would you be OK if I came as well? Ava has gone to all of them, and I would like to see them too", Marlowe said to me.

"Sure, Marlowe. I am happy for you to come too. I will text you the time and place as well", I told her and she came up to hug me and said, "Thanks Cora, I appreciate you letting me come. I missed out on getting to do this with Reed, I am really excited about getting to see my grandchildren".

Michael came in with Sadie and Reed and I saw the joy of seeing him all over Marlowe's face and I knew how happy she would be when she could finally hold our babies in her arms. My parents are excited, but they hadn't been dreaming of grandbabies yet. Marlowe helped Reed onto the barstool next to me and asked him what he would like to snack on from the veggie tray.

Reed makes a face and says, "I would rather have a cookie".

"I am sure you would, and you can have one after you eat lunch. Here, try one of these carrot sticks in the dip I made; it tastes really good", Marlowe told him. I reach over and grab my own carrot stick, break it in half and dip it in the ranch and eat it. Reed watched me doubtfully, but since I ate it with a yummy sound and didn't keel over, he decided to try one. He ate his and looked at me proudly and I nodded in approval at him. He ate three carrot sticks and Sadie came up and told him how proud she was of him for wanting to grow up and be big and strong like his father by eating his vegetables. I smiled at her and she leaned over and hugged my shoulder and said, "You are a natural at this. You are going to be a great mom" before going back over to Michael's side and into the hug. We waited until everyone got there, and we decided to eat before we started talking. Some stayed inside in the dining room or breakfast table, and some went outside to the patio because it was a beautiful day. I went outside and ate with Collin, Ava, Thomas, Mateo, and Ella under the umbrella at the wrought iron table.

We all went to the office and Collin pulled me onto his lap, and Michael did the same to Sadie. Marlowe looked like she was about to explode with happiness over her view of us and she went over and sat down on Alderidge's lap, as there were more of us in there than usual. Mateo patted his knee for Ella to know to come and sit on him and she came over and sat down on his lap and leaned over and gave him a kiss.

"I wish I had a girl on my lap," Dalton said, causing everyone to smile.

"I need to get one for my lap too, Dalton. We need to work on that" Nicolas said. I agree, I love them both and they are good men. I will have to start keeping an eye out for them. I actually think that Livi would be perfect for Nicolas. I saw him checking her out the day I got my hair done when we saw them at the Pizzeria. Maybe when we do the babies' room we can see if they want to come over, as Iris is really cute and if she and Dalton got some time together, who knows what could happen. I was already going to be pushing Jacob and Ava some more. I might as well go for it for all of them.

Collin is looking at me smiling and I know that he is seeing my wheels turning with plotting. Well, it worked for Mateo and Ella. Why not try again for my other friends? You never know.

Nicolas tells the group what he came up with as the only option that he could come up with for Maddie to come after Collin, and not Cora, and mentioned that Mateo would not have to do anything other than measure her and speak about what she wanted in her dress. We didn't know yet if he would have to draw up something for her approval at the time or not, but Collin said that he would be glad to pay Mateo for his time and talent to do it, as well as paying for the stress that they both went through for all that Maddie did, and the accusations that she made. Mateo and Ella were nodding along with Nicolas as he told them what the plan was, and Mateo agreed to help us out with our plan. He told Collin that he could measure Maddie at the end of April or at the beginning of May when he gets back from his honeymoon and that he would be glad to even do a design with Ella for Maddie's wedding dress. Mateo made me smile when he said that he was going to draw up her dream dress. One that she was going to fall so in love with, that it would crush her to lose it. Then when Collin tells her that he changed his mind and didn't want to marry her, that should be the straw that broke the camel's back and drive her over the edge.

We will set her to be measured in the last week of April. Then have her replace out in the middle of May that she won't be marrying Collin, so she can react and attack Collin, and then be arrested by the FBI for attacking Collin. Maddie doesn't know where I am staying so she can't get to me anyway. She should be gone by the time we do the summer fashion show on the 3rd weekend in May. It was a well-thought-out plan that we all thought would work. I would like her to be wrapped up by then because I wanted Collin with me when I gave birth to the twins. I wanted him in there to see them be born and to comfort me.

I also didn't want to have to worry about Maddie coming after me or the babies. I was glad Collin wanted her focus to be on him, as from what I had heard, she had really lost her calm, and is angry all the time now. She yelled at him for 2 hours last night and told him that he had better not just disappear on her again. She is really stressed out after we had our press conference in February. I hope that this will work. I don't know what Maddie will do and I pray that Collin doesn't get hurt. I know that he and Nicolas will have it all planned out for when they drop the hammer on Maddie, and where. All I know is that it will be in a public place and, hopefully, this will all be over quickly.

Everyone got up to leave and I mentioned to Dalton and Nicolas that we would be getting the babies' room ready next weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. I told them, "I had to go with a few others to plan it out. I just wanted to see if you guys could come and help me too. I am providing beer and pizza, and my girlfriends will be there to do the deep cleaning after the room gets cleared. It won't be too hard because I have some of the local firemen coming over to help with the heavy stuff to get it to the attic. The girls are going to clean as they clear it out. Then we will paint and put the baby beds together and we will be done". I smiled at them, my most charming smile because I thought that they might like Iris and Livi. We would never know if I didn't try to get them together. "Sure, Cora. I will be glad to come and help", Dalton tells me and smiles back at me.

"I will be there to Cora. I may not be able to put the beds together, as I have never tried to do that before, but I can take the heavy stuff and paint". Nicolas tells me and smiles.

"Great! I will text you this week on which day it will be. Thank you both so much. I really appreciate the help", I told them and hugged them both goodbye.

I hear a throat clear behind me and I turn around to see Collin, who is sad to see me go. After Wednesday, we won't see each other for a while. I gave him a smile and tilted my head up to give him a kiss goodbye. I know I will see him again this Wednesday, but it already feels like we are back to not being able to see each other again for a while, and it is hard. I love him and miss him, and every night I know that Maddie is throwing herself at him to try to catch him in a weak moment. I hope he is strong enough to resist her.
